Apparently diamonds spawn more the farther southwest you go and spawn less the farther northeast you go from spawn. It's probably the reason you couldn't find many diamonds.
That probably explains why heading towards sunset yielded far more diamonds later in the game around day 85, was this just for infdev that diamonds spawned this way?
@Nikos. from what I know the bug existed until beta 1.4_01. I don't know when it was patched out exactly. You can google a map from a 1.4_01 world that shows the diamond distribution.
Infdev isn't the oldest version available, It's not even the oldest version with survival. That would be 0.24. Infdev is notable because it was the first version that added infinite terrain, hence the name, Infinite Development. Before that you have InDev, and the aforementioned 0.24. I think surviving in InDev could make for an interesting video, but much more before that and the amount of things to do in the game drops drastically, I think you'd find it really difficult to do a 100 days video passed InDev. Edit: Regarding the minecarts needing gravity to go, there was a bug you could take advantage of that worked sort of like a primitive version of a powered rail, it was called a boost track and was pioneered by AlmtyBob. Though looking back in his video he was on Alpha 1.0.17 and not InfDev, so I don't know if it would work.
In the past, and I mean beta 1.7.3 ofc... I decided to build a massive underground hole... Why? Because I can. I noticed that using my Diamond pickaxe for that wasn't the best idea... And stone made it take a very long time. So- Gold it was... Since enchantments weren't a thing back then; ... Best legit 3 days I've wasted in my life.
And Diamonds were RAAAAARE- Nowadays you're almost guaranteed to get at least 1 diamond per chunk... Not exactly sure how rare it was... but I can guarantee that you could be so unlucky that there's not a single diamond in a 10 chunk radius around you.
I think mining gameplay can be more fun. Inspired by the classic games about mines. Frequently occurring random lava blocks. Natural exploding blocks. A block similar to SCP-409 (if upgraded, it will infect several blocks that it touches, and they will begin to cause damage). Very large deposits of ore, covered from above with blocks of ore, and from the inside with blocks of material (if it touches the air, it is replaced by stone). A disposable spawner. A revived block monster that gathers into something like a snake from the game snake, which tries to strangle the player inside the block by twisting around the player. These are just ideas that came to mind while watching this video.
I miss the old launcher, every update would include "Removed Herobrine" it really added to the belief of the myth when I was younger. Fun fact: As far as i know, diamonds were in fact just this rare. I started playing in beta and diamonds were a bitch to find but less of a bitch than infdev, so no this wasn't a bug as far as i know, it was a "feature." XD
I miss diamonds being rare, they're so easy to find in the cave update, although some have said in Infdev there is a diamond generation bug for certain parts of the world
I can tell you why diamonds were so inconsistent! In infdev, there was a bug where the spawn rate for diamonds would be different depending on what quadrant you were in. The northeast quadrant had less diamonds, the southwest quadrant had more diamonds, and the northwest/southeast quadrants had a mid amount. So if the cave is close to 0,0; you might've been getting dryspells when you happened to go to the northeast quadrant, and more diamonds in the southwest quadrant.

There are several versions of the game in each of the following development cycles, which precede infdev: pre-classic, classic, and indev. The survival tests began in Classic so those would be the earliest playable survival versions of the game, and the end of indev saw a world much like infdev but with limited world size
Funfact: spawners choud be broken in minecraft infdev with any pick and when you place them back they actually spawn pigs which means, infinite food, which is really OP espacially in minecraft infdev ( you dont even need grass in this version for them to spawn)
I know that sometimes it's boring and bland, but it had it's charm back in those days. I was a kid when it came out, but I loved every single minute of it.
I survived 2 years of 2014 minecraft, and I gotta say
I'm impressed with the work I did when I finally decided to put on the recent edition, half of my builds were covered in this random ahh mountain. My underground builds disappeared 😂
Feels like I'm watching Patrick Bateman play Minecraft, the voice and random monotone sadism is uncanny.
Bro i had to say, i love old versions, they was simple and you actually need to play to evolve in the game, the old Infraestructure and the Simple Building Style is so better than the actual
Need 200 days of it man
"Minecraft at this stage of game development was very barebones and basic" -🤓☝️
I am a Sigma Chad and I play old minecraft everyday and it's better because I said so🗿
*_irony_*
... this isn't even an example of irony 😂😂😂
@@Nikos. Just playin' around 🤙
@@snowmaske lol me too mate 😂
That was so comfy to watch. Nice job!!
Awesome! Thanks and glad you enjoyed it!
This is one of my favorite 100 days ive seen the old versions of Minecraft really intrest me because i wasnt able to play them when they first came out
Now do INDEV (Pre-indev)
6:13 yeah? How’s it running? Incredible what platforms Microsoft has extended support for in modern times.
this made me remember so many things i forgot about the older versions. Like how you didnt draw a arrow with a bow, or how hard it was to get a full dia set. I remember even in beta versions someon with 2 or more full dia set probally cheated or really didnt have a life.
A lot of “differences” between infdev and alpha that you mentioned, aren’t different. They’re literally the same 👍
Love your Let’s Play. It’s heartwarming seeing how similar everyone seems to play MC
i llove playing infdev actually. i love to load into my infdev world and play like its 2009
it's very nostalgic
Question would you ever do 100 days minecraft 1.7.3 or beta?
Fun fact: As far as i know, diamonds were in fact just this rare.
I started playing in beta and diamonds were a bitch to find but less of a bitch than infdev, so no this wasn't a bug as far as i know, it was a "feature."
XD
I miss diamonds being rare, they're so easy to find in the cave update, although some have said in Infdev there is a diamond generation bug for certain parts of the world
"most pointless structure i've ever made"
literally has a point
Instant click 😅
I can tell you why diamonds were so inconsistent! In infdev, there was a bug where the spawn rate for diamonds would be different depending on what quadrant you were in. The northeast quadrant had less diamonds, the southwest quadrant had more diamonds, and the northwest/southeast quadrants had a mid amount. So if the cave is close to 0,0; you might've been getting dryspells when you happened to go to the northeast quadrant, and more diamonds in the southwest quadrant.
nostalgia is real 😪
i want more videos like these but if i search for infdev videos your is the only one lol. you should continue this world into newer versions
I'm trying to get an Indev version produced, planning on continuing this series
