there was an episode of the newer twilight zone that was exactly like this. it had john cho playing the best presidential PR guy ever and he gets this little kid, who was sweet and lovable, elected president, but then once he's in power the kid turns into trump and becomes a power tripping, tantruming, spoiled brat that was tanking the country in order to benefit himself.
The one hotel encounter was not just brief, but rapey. He invited her to dinner. There was no dinner. She needed to go to the washroom and wanted to leave. He stood between her and the door. He told her that her career and future depended on her doing what he wanted sexually.
The gross part about him saying she needed him to get out of the trailer park.

It will never happen to a Republican, and less likely to happen as a Democrat. I'm pretty sure Democrats or enough would have voted to convict Obama had he blackmailed a foreign leader in 2012, or staged an insurrection. Republicans proved they won't. If it were any worse, they would have succeeded and we wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

It will give Biden immunity to do what he wants, including imprisoning or killing his opponent. Then, if Republicans try holding him accountable with impeachment and conviction in congress, he just nips them in the bud as well. SCOTUS can be removed and replaced and who is going to do anything about it? The new Supreme Court will just allow it.

Dude, we couldn't even get trump disqualified with the 14th amendment that is CLEAR in its wording that no trial, Supreme court, or court conviction is neccesary to disqualify. The thing about Executive Orders: even if Congress allows them to stand (because the purview of such orders is more limited than most Americans seem to realize) , they expire when that Administration ends, so any such action is always temporary - unless Congress acts to make them Law.

I think it nails a few particulars about the character of cult members. I think what it really came down to is the patriarchy of America and the fact that women don't count unless you need our vote.

The Thomas deal was bad enough that it was the first time that I remember people saying that they did not want him on the Court. At the time I worked in an office of all women. Our manager brought a tv into the office so we could follow the hearing. Not one of us supported his appointment. Not even the women who identified as Rep voters.

I live on the wrong side of the tracks in the richest county of a very, very red state. So everybody around here, from the working poor to the disgustingly rich, vote Republican. And since Biden and the Democrats seem to be using their usual election strategy of doing everything they can to snatch a lose from the hand of victory, the one thing that makes me feel better about this election, is how many Republicans I'm hearing say they won't vote for Biden, but they can't bring themselves to vote for Trump either. I'm saying a whole bunch, maybe most, of them are saying they're not going to vote at all, not even down ballot, they're going to sit this one out.
