I personally love learning from your content, thanks for putting such effort into it.
I am a Health Lawyer who assists doctors when they face various claims, complaints, and investigations. I am confident that your ability to explain complex things in simple ways and your calming bedside manner will serve you well (and avoid you needing the regular assistance of someone like me!).
I would love to see a video on how you handle complications and reassuring patients who suffer unexpected outcomes.

Love the content, great presentation here of what the morning of surgery looks like. I love your approach to patient education, and to UA-cam education as well! So happy to see a creator focusing on legit content. Thank you for keeping it real…so real it takes me back to my residency days when I used to do these too. Hope the case went well!

I will be starting an MD program this fall, and I just wanted to let you know that your videos were a big inspiration for me as a non-traditional. I am trying not to be biased before matriculation, but I want to pursue a career as an orthopedic spine surgeon given my exposure to that field over the years, and your videos over the years have also been a part of my decision to pursue that passion. Thanks for the quality work, and I can't wait to see the next part!

Doc, just wanted to say thanks for all of the incredible content. I’ve been watching you for years, and you are a true inspiration.
Like you, I’m a veteran. I was a military medic in fact. Well, I just found out on Monday that I’ve been accepted into medical school!
Thanks again for everything you are doing for your patients and our education. Keep it up!

I have tremendous respect that your content has shown both ends of the spectrum, where not too long ago you made the video about possibly leaving medicine and keeping it real with how you were feeling, to now giving positive updates and progressively advancing your videos. Congratulations on everything thus far and keep up the great work.

I will be in that operating room on August 31, 2023. I watched this 4 part video and found it to be very informative. I look forward to getting this done and prayerfully this will diminish much of my pain. The sciatica and lower back pain is debilitating and has made walking difficult. Thank you Dr Webb! Can't wait to get this done and over with.

I can honestly say that patients appreciate it when surgeons take the time to educate and answer questions. Helps to see the surgeon and anesthesiologist right before the surgery. ;)

As a MRI tech its awesome to be able to see the process of this anterior fusion and why its done. I scan many patients with fusions and it helps me also see what the patients go threw. Thanks for this amazing content! . If I had the time or if I could go back , becoming a surgeon would be on top of my list .

Hello Dr. Webb. I just graduated with my BA in Psyc and my dream is to literally be an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. I simply don't have the courses I needed in undergrad and I can't get into debt in medical school. Right now I'm tryna find a way to get a job maybe to pay for like a pre-med post-bac then head to military medical school, idk yet lol. But really I have been watching you for years, I love your videos. Amazing work , amazing journey. You really are my favorite youtuber and doctor and I hope and pray that one day I'll be doing what your doing. Have a great day!!

For a guy who plays contact sports, although qualified for a disc replacement, is the fusion on the l5-s1 a better way to go? And does it make a more significant difference putting posterior screws than just the regular ones from the anterior fusion?

Hi Dr. Webb! Would love to know the difference between neuro spine surgery and orthopedic spine surgery. And are there any operations you do that requires a neuro spine surgeon?

  • @vzeller

Hey Doctor! I know an ALIF only gets about 90 percent of the disc because of the frontal approach. What happens to that remaining bit of disc? Can't it still be compressed on the nerve? Will it eventually erode/absorb?

I assume that a vascular surgeon does the anterior exposure. Because of the potential for serious blood loss from major vessels, is it typical to use a Cordis +/- an art line in these cases? What is a typical estimated blood loss? And are cell savers used typically? Having been in the OR for over 1,000

Sorry, over 1,000 surgeries-mostly gen surgery trauma, cardiac, and neuro (brain) surgeries, I have not yet seen an ALIF. Do you typically monitor SSEP?
