If the HD is properly attached to the system, check if the HD is compatible with Linux/Unix and your mobo. Sometimes, mobo and other components maybe interfering with the HDs ability to connect/communicate in Linux/Unix environments.
Im installing linux mint on a external SDD to dual boot windows and linux. However every time linux gets installed no matter what I do it only uses 2gb out of my 1tb for linux. Meaning linux works fine but has no room for downloading anything
I need help, while installing Ubuntu it appears to be the following message. "The installer needs to commit changes to partition tables, but cannot do so because partitions on the following mount point cloud not be unmounted /cdrom Please close any applications using these mount point Would you like the installer to try to unmount these partitions again" Thank you very much.
what is in the video is not what you need most likely you are trying install ubuntu on worng partition (like the usb) try to install it on sda or else partition you got i guess you solve this problem yet but still
You will most likely have to re-create both partitions if the two are on the same hard drive. Keep in mind that mean you will lose the data in the working partition as well. If the not working one is separate one from the working one, then you can simply try to re-create the not working unit. Sometimes when you have two partitions on the same physical drive, you have to rebuild all partitions when things go wrong.
Sorry I just saw your message. How may I help you? I can only help you with general IT questions unfortunately as I have limited time allocated to UA-cam and Social Media.
🐧When installing packages in different Linux distros, please use the appropriate command. Here is a quick reference guide:
$ sudo apt-get install {PAKAGE_NAME_HERE} - [On Debian/Ubuntu & Mint]
$ sudo dnf install {PAKAGE_NAME_HERE} - [On CentOS/RHEL/Fedora and Rocky Linux/AlmaLinux]
$ pacman -S {PAKAGE_NAME_HERE} - [On Arch Linux]
$ emerge sys-apps/{PAKAGE_NAME_HERE} - [On Gentoo]
$ sudo dnf install {PAKAGE_NAME_HERE} - [On Fedora]
$ sudo zypper install {PAKAGE_NAME_HERE} - [On openSUSE]
Thanks, this was really helpful, much appreciated
