Happy someone brought this up online, because I get tired of "oh no, i have 4c hair" rhetoric! I have 4c hair, and it literally is not that big a deal lol. I wear styles that compliment my natural texture, and if and when I add extra hair, I get hair to match mine, not the other way around. The example I use when talking about this topic is: Would it make sense for someone who has 1b hair to get up every morning and try to make tight curls to wear a high puff? Going completely out of your way like that is why it would be hard, but 4c is beautiful and I do my best to openly embrace it. Catch me outside with my cute, sophisticated, work appropriate, birthday appropriate, wedding ready, date ready, kinky beautiful tightly coiled hair. Lol, miss me with that texturism!😘

True!! I've done everything imaginable to my hair. When I cut it and wore it natural, it was the easiest to maintain. Many BW want their hair to look a certain way, and when they cannot get or maintain the look they want, they complain.

When I learned that my hair literally doesn’t want to be sleek straight showing length but instead showing volume I was able to go past my “growth plateau” after have cutting it into a pixie cut because I felt that was the only way I was gonna be able to wear my hair out “presentable” for places like the work place as an example. I almost went as far to put a relaxer, but something told me not to. From cutting my hair I was able to relearn what it wants and overall found out that my hair was so long and beautiful before with no need of cutting it. That there was nothing wrong with it at all. That I didn’t need to cut my hair at all. That, no, I didn’t need a trim “because of my ends.” I had this salon experience that made me think my ends were unhealthy because they were unable to manage my curls for a press, but what’s funny was I was able to do my hair just fine straightening it at home. When I cut my hair and realized my ends are the same and just was curly I told myself that I can do my hair myself from then on. So just remember our hair is meant to be in an afro or showing volume not sleek down just to show off length. If you really wanna show length learn cornrow styles. You will begin to love and learn braiding your natural hair whether it’s half cornrow in a cool design and lower half in individual braids or wearing in mini/medium twist. Add some accessories maybe beads at the end or learn some wrapping styles if you’re into that, watch your hair grow being left alone just keeping up with it being moisturized, and you may never wanna go back.

They’re not ready. They love the ‘woe is me, I can’t do anything with my hair’ narrative. Gives them the excuse to cover it up or break it off.

It’s very easy! I love the fact I can wash it, condition it and use a blow dryer or air dry it. I dont use edge control either (my edges are curly and they lay down flat after some water is on it. ) ❤❤❤

That’s honestly laziness. Every other race gets up, washes their hair, blow dries it and styles it. And they do that every few days. They don’t just walk out the house with their hair doing whatever it wants unless it’s a special circumstance. But black women think they should be able to just walk out the house the same way they woke up. SMH it’s just lazy

If you're not aiming to wear puffs and afros all the time, then yes its hard to work with type 4 hair if you want a real hairstyle.

So styling your natural hair means you don’t have natural hair? This is just dumb. There’s nothing wrong with styling your natural hair. I don’t want to wear an Afro every single day. It gets matted down. I’m not talking about slicked back styled, but cute styles that help keep your hair from getting tangled/matted or keep you from having to manipulate it every day. There’s also nothing wrong with wanting to stretch your curls.

Other ethnic groups and races of people can have their real hair styled or unstyled and it will almost always be considered done. It's not the same for us.The point is there is nothing wrong with not styling the hair because it is hair.Nobody said that styling your hair means you don't have natural hair.Sadly because of internalized hatred most people think and only accept the opposite.

Like who wants to wear afros all the time. Wearing a real hairstyle and looking good as a woman isn't bad. Natural hair isn't versatile and the styles are childish as hell.

BS. It takes time energy and effort. And this poof is unhealthy for your hair. Stretched is the best.

I have to say though...I went back to blue magic a couple of months ago and my hair has had a growth boost since. I dont like the smell or consistency but all these modern products are not doing nothing much for my 4 c hair. It's blue magic or my own butter.

ah yes black people the only race that isn’t allowed to do different styles without getting criticized. At the end of the day I’m gonna do what styles compliment my face and make me feel pretty I’m not living for nobody! People think their opinions matter soooo much and it’s like no they don’t… lol stop telling people what they can and can’t do to their hair. White women, Asian women all women style their natural hair everyday manipulate their hair everyday and I’m sure they complain too make a video about how they don’t like their natural hair.

It is hard to manage and that’s okay to admit, it’s called being honest with one self but I still prefer my natural hair over relaxed hair, I wish I never ever even relaxed my hair cause it wasn’t necessary but anyway, natural hair is no picnic, its a major pain in my a** sometimes, sometimes it downright pisses me off and if I could change the texture to something more manageable, I would and that’s just me being honest but with that said, I still prefer my natural hair, get yourself some patience, the right products to manage it and learn how to take care of it and it’ll be okay and don’t forget protective styles If you need a break from it once in a while
