The Assyrians ruled for approximately 1,300 years - from about 2000 B.C. to 612/10 BC - in northern Mesopotamia an ancient landscape between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. A clear reference to the existence of the Assyrians, on the other hand, can already be found in the Old Testament (1st Book of Moses 2:14).
