I moved to Glasgow around 10 yrs of age...1963...soon after the boy across the road got killed accidentally, Kennedy was assiinated, I got kicked in the guts the first day of my new school ...and after these awakenings, ...that wake up call to a big city...my life just got better, I became captain of my school football team...Eastbank Primary, then the same, at the Academy. ..never too good in school . But knew it would get worked out in time. Left Glasgow at 24.. to Canada...had to make a life, had a rocky road for a few years, but you have little choice in a new country ..sink or get yer head out of yer ar++, and keep moving forward. I'm 72 in June this year.. spend my winters in California, Arizona and Nevada.. the ups and downs, that rocky start...that is endured, that was Glasgow in me...telling to get on with it....these photos bring tears to my eyes many times.. because I grew up there ...I was given chances, saw stuff I shouldn't have at such a young age...but.. got on with it...Glasgow, the people, the hardships, the talent, the laughter at ourselves. . .. the memories. 2 years ago I went back for my 70th with my partner. Not the partner I left with...this one's from London...like me...an immigrant.. Both of us loved our visit, and each other's original cities of growing up.. Thank you for these weekly journeys in time.. .. So much is seen for me in my years there....and how it was, and still is.
    Glasgow s miles better...

I used to buy my Wee Red Book in the Central Station and when I visited from England I loved and was very emotional when my train pulled into Ceantral Station.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Running out of superlatives for this page. Thanks again for the amazing memories. I remember the old departure boards in Central Station and went to see " Where Eagles Dare. " at the Coliseum in the 60's.😁😁

Thanks Colin. That 1958 Cathcart rd photo was great. It was very local to me. There was still a funeral directors on that corner 64 years later, but gone now. My aunt lived 3 closes away in Albert rd.

Same for me, had a friend that lived in the close next to the undertakers.
      Fond memories.

There used to be an old air raid shelter in the back courts. I recently saw an estate agents video for one of the flats and you could still make it out the hump where they covered it over with soil and re-turfed.

Thanks for another great collection. I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of Big Rachel from Partick Cross.

Unfortunately the photo of the Prefabricated Railway Station, Queens Park is in London, not Glasgow.

I always said if I had the choice I would like to go into the future but now take me back any day, why have we let our once great country be destroyed.

@@Dss322 I think the past would be a far better option.
