Step 1 read the instructions! 😀 You made some massive mistakes and that's probably why it didn't work. Firstly do NOT remove the wheel from your car, and second do NOT remove the nail from the tyre! You are supposed to pump the liquid in (preferably with the puncture at the TOP which is the exact opposite to what you did). And if you're able to get to the target pressure within 10 mins of pumping, you then disconnect the compressor and IMMEDIATELY you need to then drive the car no more than 80km/h for about 10 mins to help spread the liquid inside which makes it form a seal around the foreign object. You then stop again and reattach the compressor, and attempt to inflate to your normal tyre pressure. If you're able to do this, you are good to go driving for max 80km, at max speed 80km/h which should be enough to get you to a tyre repair shop. Now... something to note this will not work for sidewall punctures. Your nail here is in the borderline area, so there's no saying for sure it will work in the case, but please read and understand the instructions first.
Good point Ben. Instructions can be helpful. I think I was able to make it work as well as it could. It held air for a weekend. The thing I was trying to determine is whether it would FIX a tire with a puncture or merely get you somewhere that you could replace it.
Yeah a reasonable question. The Instructions say it isn't a permanent repair, its meant to get you to some where for new tyres only. Max range 200km at a max speed of 80km. IMHO it's a very poor alternative to a spare tyre... Thankfully many manufacturers are going back to packing a spare or space saver wheel
Yeah it’s really meant to replace a spare in the sense that it’s temporary. Although I’ve found that the $7 slime brand tire plug kits from the grocery store work great as a permanent repair even though they say that’s also temporary. Your hole was not in a repairable area of the tire though. Did you ever find out if you have to buy a whole new pump or if you can just get a new bottle of goo?
I bought a new bottle of slime-esque stuff that has its own applicator. If I leave the orange plug screwed on the compressor it will inflate the tire if need be.
All the steps that you followed were wrong, that's reason it did not work. Sealant was expired long back ...

Ha. You did pretty much everything wrong here.
Will that pump work as an inflator without the goo?
I think it could be pretty easily modified to work as an emergency. Inflator
Hi Matthew, can you tell how did you managed to remove that sealant bottle from the inflator? I used that sealant bottle and it is not coming out.
It is the ultimate of waste. It is a one-time use. You have to buy a new pump with the new bottle of sealant.

usually noone will fix the hole that close to the edge. they say itd dangerous
you need to rotate the wheel so the wheel is balanced. otherwise all that weight will sit down and you don't want it.
Myabe you should have left the nail in the tire and then used it, might have worked then; but then again it is expired.
Toyota has a similar setup and it does work.
