      All things once considered lame that I am now appreciating more being older.

      Same. But I don’t see how everyone thinks those old school tricks are easier than just Ollie tricks. I get bashed with the board so much more with the old stuff lol

    • @Inexpressable
      @Inexpressable 6 місяців тому +2

      @@RamManNo1 yeah for real. i think maybe they see the grab as an easy 'cheat' but its just as hard to get the board where you want with your hands as your feet.
      i also dont care if people dont think the tricks are trendy or look cool, i do what feels fun.

    The pop and catch with the caveman is actually a really useful thing to learn for cruising if you aren't comfy with ollieing up curbs yet. You can just do that to get up obstacles

    Thanks, you have given me a few good ideas to teach my 8yo daughter.
    A heap of no complies in a block as new things to mix things up and keep things fresh should be good, i like the way that you teach, its got some structure, easy to digest. .
    Im a shocking teacher as i was just given a board and sent to work it out myself but this 🔝 covering many simple variations might be a game changer but it dosent help when my 8 yo dosent listen to me anyways ... lol , wish me luck.
    Ill show her this.
    Ive already got her doing a sail flip as a little stezzy way just to get on the board and she loves that, think she will like to add the sail flip no comply in to a little flat ground run as she has already got that sail flip down to start then we can go from there.
    Weather here is supposed to be dry tomorrow... 🤞
    🌧Its winter here in Australia🌧
    Thanks again.

    Explaining how to do that pop up and catch a little better would have been a nice addition. Im having issues with the pop up/catch when trying some no comply tricks.

    • @james_scotland

      The thing with many no comply tricks is that you don't actually pop as such, it's a tough mentality to get through when you're used to popping everything rather than just scooping your foot through, especially with tricks like an impossible.

    • @kevskatesNM73
      @kevskatesNM73 6 місяців тому +1

      @@viracocha03 ONE BIG thing that helped me when I was learning fastplants and beanplants was to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS set up as if I was doing the trick even at red lights just stopping and popping the board into my hand, getting on the bus, popping out of a bowl or halfpipe, etc. just even when you are stopping in any situation: instead of braking with your foot, or just stepping off, really try to pop the board into your hand and plant (whichever) foot according to the trick you are learning.

    • @kevskatesNM73
      @kevskatesNM73 6 місяців тому +1

      @@viracocha03 for me for example, in the late 90s I was REALLY obsessed with learning fastplants on bank walls and over skatepark hips…that’s kind of like an opposite foot boneless, with a backside rotation (at least the ones I was messing with)…the frontside way I think we called “slob plants.” Since I couldn’t early grab those tricks (or beanplants), what I would TRY to do all the time, just skating to the bus, or skating to school etc..if I had to stop at a crosswalk or something, I would actually use it to practice the correct “pop and grab.” Never really paid attention to how I popped the board into my hand or came out of a bowl when my run was over until I started doing this. So think of a trick like that you are working on…and next time you need to stop on your skateboard…go ahead and do the FIRST part of whatever trick. Like “ok red light” I would pop the board up, let my back foot slip off and keep my front foot on the bolts while grabbing with my front hand. So then at the skatepark, “all” I would need to do is add the backside 180 rotation and then jump back on my board.

      @@james_scotland True, it's like a pop-scoop motion. Popping doesn't lif the board that much. I notice with no comply tricks, it helps to be "light footed" and not ride stiff or in other words be flexible all the time.

    even though a fs no comply 180 is the easiest, it's bloody hard! i struggle to make them look smooth, whereas i can do a bs no comply 360 kinda smooth.
    just a regular, straight no comply is one of the hardest. you have to fling it with your inner thigh.

    • @kevskatesNM73
      @kevskatesNM73 6 місяців тому

      @@Inexpressable 😂 THAT is the first one I learned over parking blocks and up curbs…my inner thigh and inner knee would be raw and bleeding from the grip tape. What’s funny is that I think the shove it no comply is easier because learning the fs 180…I HATED that feeling of rolling fakie one footed…which is why you have to do them fast and jump back on with both feet.

    • @Inexpressable
      @Inexpressable 6 місяців тому

      @@kevskatesNM73 you might be right actually with the shove it no comply being easier, i kinda forgot that trick existed. and yeah i definitely gotta jump back on both feet. i can get it quite far though! like 3 feet lol.
      but my favourite for sure is a no comply flip up a curb. you do it with your toes so that part hits it and it flips the other way.
      or just slapping the tail straight up with no flip and getting on it. i can do it backside, too. with my foot to the left instead of right. super fun.
      i can do an early grab jump up a curb too. feels stupid, probably looks stupid, but its fun.

    Really great tutorial. Never seen the vast majority of these permutations of the no comply. I grew up watching Ray Barbie way back in the day and he was super heavy into no complies, but never saw him do most of these variations. Btw, you're a wonderful teacher; keep it going.

      Front180 were the first trick I had down even before Ollies. Do whatever comes natural and build from there. Look at your progress as a summation of everything you have learned and not how much time it took to get there.
