@@freshprinceofnightcity Well I don't know if you have any local game stores but I would check there first. As for online the best places are usually coolstuffinc.com, trollandtoad.com, and of course eBay. I would highly recommend checking out hcrealms.com go to the units section and just search any character you like. That way you can see every figure ever made of them and narrow down a list of what to look for. Hope that helps! And welcome to this awesome game!
@@HeroclixHeadquarters sweet, thank you. I'll check those sites out. Thank you for welcoming me and im watching videos about it right now as far as the rules of the game.
A friendly reminder: Telekenisis is an ability that often goes overlooked, but can be vital. Leadership is also an incredibly valuable ability, especially if you don’t have a ton of Willpower or Indominable.
As a long time player myself I recommend picking your favorite keyword and build from there. Like for example The Avengers have a lot of great support pieces, secondary and primary attackers for example a squad consisting of Cap, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther and a Hulk there you go.
I honestly use overwatch as inspiration for my team. Where I have at least 1 "tank" damage dealers, and supports. Usually most of my points go to the tank and I use the tank as a distraction and to create distance from my damage dealers and supports. Much like overwatch.
My main powers I look for in a team is; (Flight) Movement: 1) Running Shot 2) Charge 3) Stealth 4) Flurry 5) Hypersonic Speed! Attack: 1) Penetrating Physic Blast 2) Blades Claws and Fangs 3) Telekinesis 4) Pulse Wave 5) Energy Explosion / Steal Energy! Defense: 1) Invincible 2) Impervious 3) Super Senses 4) Mastermind / Regeneration 5) Energy Shield Deflection / Close Combat Reflexes! Damage: 1) Exploit Weakness 2) Range Combat Expert / Close Combat Expert 3) Outwit 4) Probability Control 5) Perplex / Enhancement / Empower! I look for Fliers, who has stealth, running shot, physic blast, invulnerability or better, who does 3 or more damage with range combat expert! Who can carry someone who can use stealth, charge, flurry and exploit weakness / close combat! If you can match them up with stealth, telekinesis, outwit and probability control…you’ll be golden! I like to have two of each, two fliers two chargers! I like running a whole stealthy team! Who can use steal energy or regeneration later in their dials! Black powers, keeps you stealthy and healthy! Traited abilities are awesome and leadership & willpower is a plus and a must! Batman team ability, wildcard team ability, objects and resources really helps with my team building! Looking for clix that complement each other, and enhance each other’s abilities and play! If your whole team has physic blast and exploit weakness, you really don’t need outwit, but it’s nice to have one or two!
I found and played Heroclix pretty close to the very beginning. Around 2010 I dropped playing it and have recently decided to pick it up again. I checked out this video to see what's changed. And interestingly enough, all of this advice is basically the same as it was 10+ years ago... I'm not sure if that's good or bad. 🤔
Well most of the basics still hold true, though the rules did just get a major update, first in 2017, and again just this year with the release of wonder woman 80th. So its actually a little simpler now but at the same time there's some very complex mechanics due to the power creep over the years.
@@HeroclixHeadquarters yeah I feel like it's a meme team, infinite broods. Just have 5 brood queens on field for a casual play or a event. I've always wanted to build one but I have only one brood and one brood queen, gotta order more
Super helpful! As a new player I have been playing 200 point games with like 3 characters max, this way its easier for me to keep track of abilities and learn all my figures
That's a great way to start learning! I usually recommend doing something like that, as well as only trying to learn a couple powers at a time and just ignoring the other ones until you can get the hang of them. Since trying to learn every power at once can be difficult.
I think what I like to do most is to find a special character or couple characters that do something I like. Then I build the rest of the team around them. It can end up being any of these kinds of teams.
@@roryzaugg8351 Yeah I've been thinking a lot about him too, first choice is obviously nightbringer ring. But another cool option is the rare invisible woman, since she gives all adjacent friendly characters that share a keyword with her, stealth and improved targeting hindering. I'll do a whole video about him soon but I have managed to test him out against my friend Spencer from Meta Monday and it was mean lol. Without even giving him stealth! Just teaming him with other good avengers.
@@HeroclixHeadquarters I was thinking of putting him with the SR The Thing and SR Ghost Rider for the 19 defense with ESD for everyone around. Then the rare Franklin could protect him from outwit by sharing power cosmic. Thing and Ghost Rider could protect lots of stuff from big ranges. Except for Annihilus, of course. Invisible Woman would be great to watch out for that. And she could also have the FF sideline to adjust as needed.
Noob question: Exploit Weakness/Penetrating Psychic blast = penetrating, so the only power that reduces is Invincible correct? So if an opposing character has Invul or Impervious, they just take the penetrating correct? They don't reduce pen? Might be basic question, but my group seems to think you can reduce any and all damage, even though Invincible clearly states "can reduce penetrating damage".
Yeah I GOTTA write these down.I have a habbit of making a team just so i can play some old set clixes or some team that i havent played yet.I usually notice the flaws when the game starts and then i am Fucked. SOME had been good though at times or the clixes are just good on their own.One example is a Team with KC Green lantern From WF set,LE Koriand`r and WF Jimmy Olsen on his lower point value i think. My idea was to use Kori and Old man GL as main attackers and Jimmy to Boost them up..BUT he cant Boost old man GL since he is KC Or Kori when i use her Outsiders TA.
Yeah those are good figures! And I also have the same problem with just wanting to use a bunch of figures I haven't got the chance to use yet, but I go with it knowing what my teams weaknesses are beforehand so I try to play around that as best I can. And if you're lucky, sometimes you can find some really cool combos you might not have thought of otherwise. For example the other day I played a team full of a bunch of random FF characters I haven't played yet, now one thing I'm definitely going to use again is to play the old legacy card human torch with earth x thing so he can just carry him around and keep him defended to a 19, which he really needs cause his defense is terrible for 120 points lol.

Ok time for dumb noob questions. In a 300 point game you can only use 3 costed actions per turn correct? So if you had 5 characters you could only move 3 of them on a turn? Any help is appreciated
Yep, you got it right. That's why leadership is good because it gives you another action for the turn. And you can also use characters with flight, the carry ability, or even giant/colossal size to carry around your other characters so you can move more of your team into position without taking as many actions.
@@HeroclixHeadquarters thanks for the info!. Im sure il have plenty more questions. The rulebook wording isnt the easiest read i ever saw lol. So anyone who has flight can carry an adjacent friendly character?
