A friend of mine was also born in China but got adopted and raised by French Canadian parents. She’s also a vegetarian, even though her parents are not. But in her case, she doesn’t see herself as Chinese beyond her physical appearance, and doesn’t want to meet her biological parents, go to China, or learn about chinese culture more than any other culture. She likes chinese food, but prefer corean/japanese. I also have a chinese friend who grew up with Chinese parents, and he could’nt understand why she wasn’t interested by her culture. To which she replied : « this is not my culture, my parents are the people who raised me, and my culture is from here, where i grew up ». I guess it depends on the person when it comes to whether or not they wanna learn about the country they were born in. It’s a personal choice and there’s no right or wrong way to do it i think ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Being from Hawaii, our society is multicultural with the heaviest emphasis on Japanese and Chinese food. I would choose either over a burger, pizza, or even a steak.

I don’t like most meats, so I prefer eating vegetarian foods. Chicken is the only meat I like though.
Also mom is vegetarian, and I grew up with her cooking
