I'm in Mazatlán. Weather 8 months of the year is fantastic. Even during rainy season it's hot and sunny. We do have an issue with flooding, but keep that in mind when you buy a place, and don't buy one where flooding is an issue. I tell people the other four months in Mazatlán is like Houston in Summer. Hot. Humid. Sweat. But with a very swimmable ocean, beach palapas, and someone to bring you margaritas (or beer) and food! Weather was the #1 reason I moved here from Seattle. 60 years of overcast & drizzle finally got to me! ;) With clothing, on the other hand - if you're shorter then you can shop almost everywhere! No kids departments!

Thank you for the time, creativity, work and humor you put into this video. It was the most helpful one I've watched to understand what to expect weather-wise in Ajijic. You are also the first to tell me about the mosquitoes - ugh! I am a 75-yr-old widow who has outlived all my close family members, even my son, and almost all my friends. I'm looking for a place to spend my remaining years economically, since I have no one to look after me, should I need it. I see there are a few assisted living facilities in Ajijic, which would be my back up, if I don't die as planned (in my sleep after a wild night partying with dear friends). I have two physical limitations: 1) reduced lung capacity. I feel sleepy after a couple of hours at 5,000 feet elevation. I'm currently looking into an out-of-pocket purchase of a portable oxygen concentrator as the solution, since Medicare won't cover it. That would hopefully allow me to make an exploratory visit to Ajijic. 2) intolerance of heat (I pass out). I currently live in Chico, in northern California, land of many wildfires (I can't cope with the smoke) and too high summer temperatures (over 100F for weeks). I keep flip flopping on whether Ajijic is the right place for me; I think the only way to know is to go.

Id definitely recommend trying it out... Maybe with a visit to see how things go. But I can guarantee the community of foreigners here are amazing. I've never known a person to be lonely... thats for sure. Best of luck and thank you so much for your kind words. We worked hard on this video and it means the world to know it helps people. If you get to Ajijic... I sure hope we run into ya!

@@TrulyRemarkableLifeThe production value was high. You obviously spent a lot of hours cutting and splicing (digitally, of course). That extra effort really paid off from this viewer's perspective. I left you a little something to grab a taco. 🙂 P.S. You almost have us convinced that Ajijic is where we want to retire.

@@Progressive_James You nailed it on the head. I was up till 3am putting finishing touches on the video. 🤪 It means the world to me today that it made a difference. Thank you SO MUCH for the tacos!
I would never try to "convince" anyone to move here... we all have different needs.. but I hope we are helping you make a decision that's right for you. We love Ajijic and just try to show the reality. - craig

@@Progressive_JamesHola KJ y Craig! Hola James! Go there if you haven't already. It's a great place to visit or use as a home base if you enjoy traveling with a close airport in Guadalajara. It's much smaller than most people think, it has a less than 12,000* population where more than 80% of them are gringos. The hilly cobble stone streets could be tough if you are older or out of shape and you can't swim in the lake because of the pollution that gets worse after it rains. BTW-*11,500+- For a comparison the average foot ball stadium holds 60,000 to 70,000 spectators, or less than four times the amount of people living in Ajijic year round.....Mucha suerte desde Ensenada!

Great video!!! This is our 3rd year snow birding it here. I have been SO surprised how cold it has been(arrived 1st of January) compared to the last few years. I did NOT bring warm clothes and will not make that mistake again. Now it is beginning to warm up, so all will be well. I have friends bringing me down a cashmere sweater but by the time I get it, I know it will be WAY too hot to wear! Go figure!!! Again, great video! Hope to spend the entire year here soon and really look forward to the rainy season. Everyone I talk to, just like you two, have said it is the very best time to be here. You guys are great! Love what you share. Thanks so much…
