    I've seen two Swedish interviews of Alicia so far, but they differ so much from American ones! When personal and professional questions are mixed up, it is so interesting to listen to! American televison is focused on entertaining I guess, that's why we won't see such interviews there - really deep and sincere.

      Dance_with_me sorry for answering late but the interviewer is norweigan, the talkshow is norweigan/ swedish but Alicia is swedish. We usually understand eachother pretty well in nordic

      It's funny. Swedish sounds lovely. Norwegian sounds pretty good, but more clunky and "weird" than swedish. Danish sounds absolutely terribly. And those three languages are basically variations of the same language. I am danish, BTW.

      @@TheRealBlueSwan I feel you, Danish brother. I was born in Slovenia and we, for the most part, speak all the balcan languages. Yet, they don't understand us. I think, personally, the Swedes are the most boring people, the Danes are very creative and have the best movies and shows. The best ever.

    For all of you wondering why her eyes are teared up. We can see her eyes tearing up when she starts talking about auditions. So we can guess she is very genuine about how hard it was being on auditions and sending taped and never getting responses. And later they are talking about her mom being sick, which understandably is a sensitive subject. Although I do not blame Skavlan for bringing it up. Most of his interviews are very deep and sincere.

    As an American, I guess I haven’t had enough exposure to the Nordic languages, but I’ve studied a lot of German. I have to use the subtitles, obviously, but it’s actually pretty striking how similar the rhythm, pacing and diction is in Norwegian and Swedish compared to English. It almost feels like being a non-native speaker hearing English? I really love it. Dutch and Frisian also share that. The vowels and the vocabulary are just vastly different.

    8:53.... Alicia's mother reminds me of my father. He was hospitalized just 2 weeks before my departure to Italy for my studies, last year. His condition was not good (rare and aggressive cancer) and in spite of this he wanted me to go to Italy and proceed with my master studies. True love is universal I guess.

      Trasslet87 So many words are different, tho. But Norwegian has a lot of different dialects, too, that takes a while to get used to, especially if you are young.I am from south west of Norway, and the first time we went to visit my second cousins quite deep into no man's land in the middle of the country, it took me about a day to understand anything they were saying. Just like when I visited Denmark for the first time. And I understand Swedish, but swedes do not understand what I am saying. Sooo, yeah. Dialects are weird.

      The interviewer in Skavlan talks very easily understood Norwegian which we Swedes can understand. Most of the Swedish people don't understand normal Norwegian.

    • @jonasandersson3684
      @jonasandersson3684 6 років тому +9

      @@melvinjooh I would say that most Swedish people DO understand normal Norwegian, as long as it is that kind of Norwegian that is talked by Skavlan. I would consider that simplier Norwegian that Skavlan is talking to be the normal/standard Norwegian. Depending on the dialect I would say that 60-98% is understandable, and Skavlans dialect would be the highest percentage. Most of the dialects would fit in the 90-98% range. It's very rare for me to come across a Norwegian dialect that is only understandable to 60-89%.

    how many languages does that interviewer speak? i saw the interview with the skam people where he was obviously speaking norwegian to them but alicia is swedish so what? do you scandinavians mostly speak all the languages?

    • @karllindgren5363
      @karllindgren5363 6 років тому +1

      itsflowerside Well, the thing is that swedish and norwegian are quite similar, we (from Sweden) understand each other even if there’s 2 different languages. Someone from Sweden will understand a person from Norway even if that person not speak norwegian... and the same for norwegians. Maybe I am wrong but I think both swedish and norwegian were the same language in the beginning, and later grown apart from each other.

    • @Selenite11
      @Selenite11 5 років тому

      Karl Lindgren Swedish and Norvegian are different languages, you understand each other only because you are neighbourghing countries and are exposed to each others languages and cultures while growing up. It’s the same with Spanish/Italian, Slavic languages etc. If you’re a foreigner you can immediately tell Norweigan and Swedish are not the same at all even though they are similar.

      Scandinavians can to varying degree understand Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. Danish and Norwegian is the closest when you look at written language, but Swedish and Norwegian tends to be easier to understand when it comes to talking. The Danish pronunciation can be a bit hard, but I can understand if they speak slowly.

    Age gap is weird for the Tarzan film. I assume Alicia is the female lead opposite Alexander Skarsgaard's Tarzan character. She's 29 and he's 40. Age gap is too weird. In the one before this one with Christophe Lambert and Andie MacDowell, they were one year apart in age, which made more sense. these old Hollywood execs need to stop trying to push this "older man" nonsense on the public. It's not attractive, just weird.

      They were talking about the fact that Skarsgård and her have the same trainer. She was trying to get fit for tomb raider, and she joked and said that that's (the picture of Skarsgård) is what she going to look like. On the other hand it's not weird having a nearly 30 year old woman play along side a 40 year old man. That age different isn't weird because the woman is all grown up in that case.

      She's all over the world, pretty sure upkeep of a tan isn't a problem for a Oscar awarded actress these days:) Her traits are Swedish but hair and eyes not as blonde and blue/green as most Swedes. But not all Swedes are blonde, blue eyed. Just overwhelmingly many. Her parents look very Swedish/Scandinavian, and her surname is Swedish. Wiki says Swe/Fin which isn't an uncommon ancestry, since FInland was eastern Sweden for a bit over 600 years.
