around 1940, My Grandfather's family was in Lahore as he was DCDA in Defense Accounts Department in British Regime. only few Tamil families lived there. (One Mr. Rangamani was my mother's neighbour - He was then known as Manogar - specialist in Stage dramas on Puranas) My mom learned this brinjal rasavaangi from One Mrs. Meenatchi Mami of Vaththalagundu. My mom used to prepare this till 90 years. A tastier recipe it is. I learned this from my mom and after my marriage my wife learned it. But the difference is we used both Bengal gram and Toor Dal in equal amounts (i.e., each 150 ml) All our relatives and friends used to appreciate our Rasavangi.

We used to boil kathirikkai in tamarind water allow for 10 mts to get off tamarind vasanai and only powder of those ingredients added and finally put roasted coconut. This is our grand maa 's preparation.
