I'm a high school teacher in California. One of my very sweet students told me she had a Black Stallion Mare. I responded with a smile "Wow! That's very rare!"
Funny 😁 I love horses but not a member - funny I do know most. Didn't know the hand thing fractions. Truth never thought important having only heard xx.5 😁 🤔 Wonder if anything like dogs? I had a Dobie 1/4" under max height. Won every ConFORMation class entered but the (previous) owner/handler sweated it each time, sooo close. 😎
For a non English speaker this was quite confusing.. especially in the end with the measuring. I mean... Why do I need it always so complicated 😭😂😂 I would also count to ten, just because I have no idea what a hand and what inches are. You could tell me your horse is 15.1 and I would be like "Yeah, nice.. I have no idea how much that is" (I just looked it up, it's around 155 cm 😂)
A hand is four inches, roughly the width of a hand from pinky joint to index finger joint on average, which is why they use 14.1 or .2 or .3 but nothing higher, as it then is another 4 inches and would be 15.0
When spelling, i think conform=to mold into the shape of something. Confirm=to verify. Glad to know i havent even made these mistakes, i think they're mostly common sense!! Kinda like too, to, two and their, there, they're!
I saw a comment on another video that confirmed the ignorance of a self-proclaimed "expert". The commenter stated that their horse was 15.6 hands. Sometimes the comments are funnier than the videos. :)
hahahaha this is my favorite video so far of yours....15-5.... hahaha and the filly-colt ? lol we do use the word colt as a general term for all horses under 3 male or female then if specifically singling out we will say filly, gelding or stud colt and i think people some times just make up new terms and thats okay still funny though thanks for sharing

The term hands for measuring horses has been used since ancient times, in many different cultures.

Love it!

Watch out for autocorrect. It will turn conformation into confirmation.

Maybe the "fillycolt" is pc newspeak for the genderfluid young equine ;)
Thank you, thank you, thank you, hopefully someone will see this who needs this information. Also you are very tactful!
