Jumping Bull - THE UNWANTED SEQUEL

NOT AGAIN!!!!!! WHY, Big Tex, WHY?!?!
We worked very hard to bring Big Tex to Railhead Ranch. We watched him for months, sent our Bull-O-Gram to his owner down the road, and struck a deal to purchase and bring him to our pasture. We are hoping he does not fall to the same fate as Mack, our 2,000 lb beefmaster bull who had a hard time staying home. After three strikes, Mack was out, opening the door for a new herd sire. Big Tex now has the first strike on his record.
Most ranchers have experienced problems with jumping bulls who choose not to stay home. I, personally, have never seen a bull jump only once. Once they start... In coming episodes, you will fortification efforts with electric wire and fence improvements.
In short, yes.... Lady and I came home and found Big Tex with the cows next door. Oddly, he seemed more interested in conflict with the bull than chasing the cows, but came to a whistle. You will have to watch the video, but I was absolutely shocked at how we brought Big Tex back across. If he keeps this up, he'll lose his reputation as a bad hombre.... He's more like a puppy dog these days.

In the second half, we feed hay in our New Holland Workmaster 75. It is the end of September and we've been feeding weekly since mid-July. I am seeing life in the ground, but it may be too late in the season for any noteworthy growth. I have a feeling hay prices will break records this Winter. Hopefully our ryegrass will come up this year. At least Big Tex is still home and has not jumped again. Always a silver lining....
