Good luck with the new channel. I really love some of your creative photos. Its not about taking a photo, but making a photo. I look forward to future videos
Lovely video.. selfishly I’m really pleased you are looking to reach an audience this way.. after being first introduced to your work via the video you did with Nigel and subsequently following you on Insta I have been inspired by your style.. so look forward to following your channel
Wow, these images are really stunning and unique, Rachel! Thank you for creating them. Also thanks to Becky and Kon for introducing you. I can hardly wait to see more of your breathtaking shots! Cheers
Just saw your live sessions with Grays of Westminster. I thought I recognized you and it was from Nigel Danson channel. Your work is incredible. I love how you don't follow the "rules". Your compositions are unique. Look forward to seeing more.
Lovely first video Rachel. And from someone who comes across as being so natural and self-deprecating it has been a real pleasure to see you feature in one or two videos this year. I normally can't watch zoom interviews as either the presenters of the person being interviewed can't string more than a couple of sentences together, but the Grays interview was really captivating. These days with so many photographers out there, it is really hard to produce something different, but your style is unique and extremely captivating. My only criticism of this video is that you aren't looking into the camera and addressing the viewer, but looking somewhere into the distance. To an old fogey like me it doesn't seem right. P.ease in future videos look into the camera. Anyway many congratulations on your winning entry in the Wildlife Photography of the Year competition. I'm sure there will be many more winning photos over the next few years.
The last line, How can you protect something You don't love? An adorable video. I have photographed for seven decades. Using from Kodak Instamatic to large format and panoramic, the best I have used ever is the Nikon Z 9 and Z 8. My Son and Grandson are now better known photographers than I am. Nice Polar Bear shots.
Absolutely stunning images, and wonderful use of colour (or lack of it). And yes, the green eyes of a Shag* is something utterly captivating. *stop sniggering at the back.
Thank you so much for sharing your love of and passion for wildlife photography. Your creative eye is breathtaking and unique. I look forward to seeing your content and insights as you continue this wonderful journey:)
What a lovely video, and the pictures are so beautiful! I just finished the badgers video, which has inspired me to get out there and try the autocapture on the Z9. The Gray's podcast was fun, not only are you a splendid photographer, but a wonderful storyteller also. Looking forward to your future work! Cheers from the US 🙂
oh nice... your the chick who did that video with nigel danson!! ive been following your insta since that video... amazing work ... welcome to youtube!
Congratulations to your youtube channel and to win the Wildlife Photographer of the Year with this beautiful image. I am following your work for quite a while now and it was just two days before nhm_wpy when I showed your images to a friend with the words: look at this stunning work and remember her name, she's one of the most talented and passionate wildlife photographers I know. I am looking forward to more inspiring content!
I didn't realise you had your own UA-cam channel until I watched Dan Willis on UA-cam today. So just subscribed. Always loved your photos, (my favs were the badgers in bluebells but your recent polar bear shots have become my new 'Wow' shots. I'm tying to learn to improve my editing at the moment and wondered if you use mostly Lightroom, mostly Photoshop, a combo of both or a different package? May I also ask if you self taught yourself or got taught by others? It's an area I need to work on so wondered what your background, learning curve looks like :)
Hi @zebeddy ! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment, I'm so pleased to hear you mention my beautiful badgers, they're often forgotten about. To answer your questions: I use Lightroom Classic only - I haven't a clue how the others work! I am self-taught, everything I know now has been developed through trial and error. I didn't attend college or university, and I'm certainly not interested in photography itself as an art or technique so there's been no reading or research. I figured out what I needed to do technically, and now I just go out into the field and point my lens at whatever my eye picks up on. If I feel that I have my insurance shots, I'll experiment with different shutter speeds and angles etc. One thing I absolutely don't do is follow rules, which is why most of my work is very "over or under exposed" and ratios don't exist! I find that photography guided by passion will always deliver the most effective and satisfying results. Don't try to copy anyone else, you'll never be happy. Feel free to send me a message via my website contact form if you'd like to chat in more detail!
@@RachelBigsby Firstly, sincere apologies for completely missing your reply. For some reason I missed the notification so just assumed you had been really busy recently. Secondly, thank you for such a detailed reply. I do really appreciate it and it heartens me to hear what you say about being self taught and only using Lightroom. That gives me some hope for myself :P I'm also so happy to hear you go on feel and passion rather than by some fascination with the technicality of photography. I'm trying to work on confidence behind the camera at the mo, (I get hugely intimidated when there are other photographers around me) and am off to Bempton Cliffs in May which will be a massive thing for me as usually my wife encourages me to get the camera out and then I'm completely absorbed. This time she isn't coming with me so standing next to someone else with a camera will be tough. Basically, what I'm waffling to say is when I hear top quality photographers like yourself are self taught, it gives me confidence and encouragement to be able to stand next to other people with cameras and just enjoy the hobby :)
Thank you! I am wearing Revolution Race in this video, however, I wouldn't recommend the jacket for use in the field. This is just my "smart dress" for on screen appearances that don't involve wind, rain or seabird guano!
I know you have had a great start. But do try and stay the positive person you are, One thing for sure you will fine some not so nice people out there, Just stay strong and know how good you are. Keep well, keep safe and enjoy photography @@RachelBigsby
What a great channel introduction. Your portfolio really has some stunning images and it's quite interesting to see your take on some of the same subjects as I've seen Morten Hilmer shoot over on his channel. Can't wait to see what's next.
