Meiji Jingu Shrine is a shrine located in Tokyo.
Meiji Jingu Shrine was built in 1920 to enshrine Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken.
Within its precincts, there is a beautiful forest called the "100-year forest.''
This "100-year forest'' has approximately 100,000 donated trees from all over the Japan.
It was built in the 1920s through the labor and service of approximately 110,000 young men.
This is an artificially created forest.
They have worked hard to plant trees and build the approach to the shrine, and have continued to protect the Meiji Jingu Shrine forest.
This forest beautifully colors the grounds of the shrine and brings peace and relaxation to visitors.
