I understand, I am on intermittent fasting, at the moment, I had same problem that you described, I took care of this problem by planning my meals, also I found out that by nurturing myself creative flow would not be broken, as long I stay focused. Changing food eating habits takes time. I have one of those apps that you need to log in all the food in grams helps me monitor what I eat, when I eat and how much I eat, how many calories am I eating. It took lot of work and effort to learn how to eat properly and to nurture my body.I am not perfect, I think you are amazing smart person and you will find balance.
Protein shakes within arm’s reach or run and make a smoothie. That’s what I do to get me through a set amount of time after I realize I’m hungry. Usually no more than 2 hours after the smoothie step, im able to walk away and make food. I also set a timer for my cook/eat time so I have an external reminder to get back to work.
My friend who makes vids struggles with that. They end up having lots of microwave meals that they check the nutrition of, that is also not too expensive. They normally have curry meals and embellish them with mixed bags of lettuce, onions, carrots, etc. and they would force themself to have a solid meal of that, and then maybe have biscuits or something heavy on fibre to snack on in-between. ALSO having a "water bladder" (like for hill walking and such) next to the bed in a container, and having the suction bit in their mouth to encourage regular drinking to fill themselves up. They say it's not the "healthiest", but maybe it can give you some ideas?
Simple. Marry me and I'll do all of the cooking for you. Kidding aside. This is why I prepare meals ahead of time. Ideally things I can just throw in the oven and forget about until they're ready. Granted, I'm a bit too Japanese with it sometimes. Which means I just throw it all into 1 pot. Also granted, that taste great to me and is also traditionally what both my Asian and Europeans lines did with their food too. Anyway, I don't know what your goals are with food. So, can't really suggest much. Would just keep in mind the brain requires more energy than any other part of your body. I don't mean in general. I mean in heavy use. Lastly, that zone or flow you're talking about is shared by most people. If it's causing you problems that you view as legitimate problems, it might be worth getting checked out. Mainly because you could be talking about an issue I have. That being ADHD. That zone for us that get it is different than the shared zone most people have. We literally won't do anything except what we're doing. Sometimes forgetting we even need to do those other things like eat or even sleep. Not everyone with ADHD is like this, and nothing you said makes me think you have ADHD. You just described the more commonly shared version of it. Flow State is likely the proper term for what you're talking about in psychology, though to be clearer it is in terms of Positive Psychology proper.
