Laura, I worked at a restaurant where we used all the gourd type flowers like that. We made a crab stuffing and breaded them, fried them up, then drizzled some ros'e va vodka sauce over them.

Stuffed zucchini flower fritters are really popular in Vietnamese cuisine! I had no idea it's also popular in Italy! Thank you so much :D They are wonderful!

My Italian grandparents were great cooks and grew all their own vegetables. I was in awe of the size of homegrown EVERYTHING! Naturally, I love all veggies today.
I never had these, but I'm very familiar with them. My Mom had them often and said there was nothing sweeter, tastier, or better.
I haven't watched the video yet...... yummy, tfs!🙋

I make these with pumpkin flower. for batter I use chickpea flour, rice flour, salt, egg and water for extra crispiness. I don't use stuffing though.

It's funny I never remove the central part/stem, I find that is the sweetest part of the flower! I only wash them, check for insects, and pick at the green parts on the outside of the flower... that's how my Nonna always did ☺😂🙂😋😋😋

Laura, while we were in Greece they served the flowers filled with rice and what looked like tiny pieces of red and green peppers. Tasted so delicious and wanted to make them when we got back home...but no one had the flowers. Even some of the farms don't sell them. Your explanation of the male and female plant was spot on!!
