Would never have bought it for ourselves but our kid has a hard time of grasping proper brushing techniques. It might not be meant for the average adult but this is great for teaching kids it seems. Thanks for the review!
I wish the base was a little larger. It tips over easily. Like you I found the button difficult especially as are hands are wet. Kudos to the package design but I'm sure it adds to the cost of the brush.
This is the best toothbrush in it’s class for an inexpensive smart tooth app option the app is so simple compared to the sonicare and I have the diamond clean the prestige the Oral-B genius brush this app is pretty user-friendly great brush for the price point, of course nowhere in comparison in cleaning capability as the before mentioned. Thanks for your reviews. I am a certified registered dental hygienist so I like to try different brushes. I’m picking up the Oral-B iO soon
No issue with you disagreeing Xavier. Everyone has different opinions and slightly different use cases. Sure it is correct that it is as easy as just popping on the stand. But what if you spend a lot of time travelling and don't want to take the charger with you?
So is hum a Sonic or oscillating toothbrush? Also on these reviews I would like to see the brush head partially submerged into water and turn on the toothbrush because the more water they repel is an indication of how powerful the toothbrush is. Thanks a lot!
It is a sonic toothbrush, the bristles move side to side in a sweeping motion like a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. Thanks for the suggestion on what to include in future videos. We have actually considered this. Whilst not impossible to do, the truth of the matter is to capture this motion in the detail we would really want requires camera equipment, lighting and setups we can't currently justify both in terms of expense and time. We can record such clips with our current equipment, but the movement is not captured as well as we would like, because our cameras are not able to shoot a slow enough frame rate.
Thank you for your videos, they are very informative and helped me a lot in choosing my electric toothbrush. Could you make a video on gum balms, are they really effective or are they just a waste of money?
Pleased to read you have found our content helpful. Thanks too for the suggestion on gum balms. This is not something we have been asked about before. I would have to refer this to one of dentists. Based on not having been asked about this before, I don't think they are that popular or useful. I may be wrong. Do you have any particular ones you are considering.
@@ElectricTeeth Thank you for your answer, I live in France so I am not sure if brands are the same, but there are a few popular brands like “weleda” and “ chicco ” on Amazon. I am considering buying weleda’s one and would like to know if it’s effective for gum bleeding issues.
I don't think I am going to be able to get a confirmation on this for you quickly. These are not commonplace in the UK. I think the our in-house dentists would want to know what you are hoping to achieve by using such. It would appear you want this to help prevent bleeding of the gums. Whilst these may help with some of the bleeding, it is most important to know the cause of the bleeding. For example there are some mouthwashes that are often recommended due to their ingredients, they help with inflammation and bleeding, but they are a tool, rather than a cure. They are designed to assist with the process of treating the cause. This video might be helpful: ua-cam.com/video/P-V5BZ1iUA0/v-deo.html
In short both are very good. Personally, I prefer the oscillating-rotating of Oral-B, and the clinical evidence does support this as being the better option. That said, more research is needed. In reality, it is more important to worry about the routine and technique than sonic or oscillating-rotating in my opinion.
I am afraid we have not looked at this one yet Bryan to make any detailed comment. Initial reaction is that you can probably get a similarly featured model for less money. Battery life might be the compromise, but brands like Fairywill might be a worthwhile alternative to consider.
Both good options. Definitely prefer the cleaning action of the Pro 1000, but it is not smart like the hum. If you really want to master your oral care routine and brush better without spending a fortune, the hum has you covered.
We don't have a video review, only a text review here: www.electricteeth.com/uk/colgate-connect-e1-review/ The E1 is different, and it is my opinion that the hum is the better of the 2 models.
@@ElectricTeeth I am new to electric toothbrushes and o do not know which are good. I want the best electric tooth brush that will do the job which would you recommend?
Jair. It is about picking one and just using it. That will have more beneficial impact than worrying about a particular brand or model. As per other comments recommendations can change based on budgets, location etc. Clinically Oral-B is slightly better, based on the data available. But that doesn't mean it is necessarily the best. So for example in the USA the Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4100 is my main recommendation, whereas in the UK it is the Oral-B Pro 2 2500.
As a Dental Hygienist and as a person who never had a cavity now 30 yrs old I believe this is just an expensive way to brush. Nobody mentions floss. When. You don't floss you are already missing 40% of your cleaning. How hard is brushing your teeth really? Take your time to brush Gently with an extra soft toothbrush and apply flossing to your regimen and you'll be ok. Take it from someone who never had a cavity and never needed a dental cleaning.
Not everyone has perfectly straight teeth. You can have messed up teeth due to genetics and/or lack of dental insurance, even if you brush daily. So it’s not people being lazy.
I've been using this brush for eight days, which I got the battery one on Amazon for $18 with a AAA battery charger and 8 pack for $15, and I think you're looking at this toothbrush the wrong way. The smart-app capabilities, which are entirely optional, are what makes this an invaluable toothbrush for many people. For starters, the journal and reward system provide adequate incentives to maintain good, daily dental hygiene. You can even log in mouthwash and floss frequencies per day. Second, the feedback is beneficial on building proper technique as when you use the toothbrush in offline mode (no app) you may clean your whole mouth but you may be holding the toothbrush at the wrong angle for the best results. This is where the guided brushes come into play as they will respond in real-time whether you're at the right angle and if you're maintaining a good pace. Third, and this is a big one, you can turn notifications on the app for when you should brush your teeth in case you forget, which is a big help for people who have a lot on their mind.
Erm.... I don't know if you know this information from the author of "Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye", Dr. Ellie Phillips, This is one of her videos... ua-cam.com/video/813BMgPSRYk/v-deo.htmlsi=1TYfjuTMMx7xDLZw

Thank you! This is exactly the kind of review I was looking for!🙌 I appreciate how thorough you are
You are so welcome!
2021 dental health is my new top priority, (because of the masks), hum, snow teeth whitener, etc, 😄
so the results???

Cool I got the oral b 5000 that is the most expensive tooth brush at Target. But I wish Target offered Hum.
Target sells Hum
Thank you for the help.

two ways of seeing it 👍
I just picked one of these up on markdown for $9.99!
That is an insane price!

What do you think is the best technique in electric toothbrushes the sonic vibration or the one that Spin like oral B

@@ElectricTeeth thanks for answering ,i really appreciate that
Sooooo.... costs less in money, but costs in data from spying on the user's intimate details. Data that is way more valuable.
13 dollars at bath and beyond. Go !
Wow, that's an amazing price.
I like this bc of the speed settings where the high top brands don’t offer that!!!
mine like turns on, but it won't vibrate? I need help
What do you mean? Do the bristles not move?
@@ElectricTeeth yea
Get in contact with Colgate. Would appear to be faulty.
Hi, what's the name of the app? i've heard is not available in some countries, so i wanna test it before purchase, Thank you!
It is called 'Hum by Colgate' - it is correct it is not available in all countries.
I tend to brush in the shower. Would this be ok with this brush as long as i'm not submerging it in standing water?
It 'should' be fine.
@@ElectricTeeth great, thank you! Just ordered a couple today for $39 each. Great deal going on if anyone needs one

Yes possibly at some point Bryan. There are lots of products we would like to test & review, but we are somewhat limited by time & rseources.
Which would you recommend, the oral b pro 1000 or the Hum?
Hum it’s so good and helps clean teath and anti cavaties
Both good options. Definitely prefer the cleaning action of the Pro 1000, but it is not smart like the hum. If you really want to master your oral care routine and brush better without spending a fortune, the hum has you covered.
In general would you recommend this over the 4100?
I generally prefer the Sonicare 4100 over this. But, if you want smart features then this packs a real punch for the price.
Man I’m second guessing this it was a gift but it’s not trackin any of the offline brushing I do
Came to get off. I’m thinkin I’m back
Meijers carries hum.
Do you have a review of the Colgate E1 toothbrush? Is that the same as this one?

70.00 lmao its on amazon for 25.00 right now only the purple color tho
Where that hum button?
What do you mean Steven?

Yes it does.
I was staring at your teeth for the whole video.

Another toothbrush review without showing how to replace the head. Useless. Too technical for a dentist.
The heads just pull off and push back on. 👍
Why the fuck do you have to show upclose of brushing your teeth I just want to know if I should get this on sale for $20 or a non smart one for $10
