Something about the orbea orca aero bike always drew me in, I love the lines on the bike and also the color options of the bike.... I think they did a great job on this High end aero bike
What I appreciate most about Orbea is how much you can customize the bikes when you buy. Custom paint colors, crank length and gearing, seatpost offset and so on. Wish more companies would do this
yea thi sis what companies should do for sure the only thing is that when you start customizing it throws a wrench in the wait times and makes it much longer usually
Their costumization options are great and overall they are a great company, my bikefitter is actually an Orbea dealer. The storage box makes it look too much like an E-bike for my liking. If you like puristic climbing bikes they are also the right company for you.
yea Iknow they have massive bike boxes but they come out pretty much ready to build just add water lol, but yea the customizing is nice but i heard it throws a wrench into the wait times
I've been riding this frameset for 2 years and I would guess that you could easily upgrade the spec to be "weight competitive" to any other brand with any allegedly top end brand with an aero specific bike in its range, but that's not its purpose. I'm running 30mm tyres and I've had so many club mates asking me if I think the gap between frame and tyres like @ 5:55 -6:30 here is safe.... all I can say to them and you is that I've had zero issues to date, after thousands of miles on mixed surfaces and seasons. Based on what is the current standard for "seeing aero", I've always been a bit puzzled why the Orca Aero doesn't get mentioned more often than it does, so massive Kudos to Grant for this video. All I can say is Orbea absolutely nailed it with this frame and they didn't get near enough credit compared to the so called "big brands" when it was launched IMHO. Beyond that, all I can offer further is that this is the most comfortable bike I own currently, which is something I was absolutely not expecting when I bought it.
thats awesome!!! yea I think orbea killed it with the aero frame design, they made everything about this bike set for high speeds and also kept it comfortable while doing so, doesnt feel as rigid as most aero bikes
yea it is heavy out the box for sure but i weighed it with water bottle and storage system, rival is a tankish group system but it is bomb proof there are easy ways to remove the weight from this bike, but I mean for an aero bike once at those speeds that the bike is designed for it is not a big deal
I wish the regular Orca took all these aero principles (mainly the dropped seatstays + flat TT) but just combined them with lighter tube profiles. That seems to be the path to "one bike to rule them all".
I have this bike with Shimano Ultegra Di2. In size 55 its about 8.2kg with pedals and the aero bottle + storage and mount. Its a rocketship on group rides and rolling terrain. The big surprise was how comfortable it is. It doesn't rattle your filling like previous aerobikes I've ridden have. I added 62mm Bontrager Aeolus RSL wheels.
I ride DH bikes but this really caught my attention, the rear cassette being 10 and pretty small cluster screams fast! I totally love the lines of the bike it's one to put up on the wall in your living room like a trophy hahahaa Little bit of white, Mint, tang orange and matte black would be my livery color selection.
Just got this bike from my racing team. Have only ridden it for a couple of rides, did not race with it yet. Positive points: + Being able to choose crank, handlebar and stem. Also big range of options such as 36cm bar and 165mm stem. + 32mm tyre clearance. Not the best, but could be worse. + Switchable offset (0mm or -2.5mm) of seat post. Negative points: - Weight: without the box and with pedals mine is 8.4 kg with ultegra di2. Even for an aero bike that is insanely heavy, especially considering the (only) 45mm deep wheels. - Handlebar design is poor. Cables are sticking out on bottem, it does not look aero. - The computer mount (that it comes with) sits very high. Looks very poorly designed. All things considered I think this bike is okay because of the easy maintenance, but I would not recommend it for racing. For 6.5k there are better options out there that are more aero, weigh less and give better performance in general.
yea I think if i owned this bike I swap to an integrated bar and stem right away, and also try to get the weight down with lighter wheels in the future
I'm curious about your opinion on Oquo handlebar. In my opinion, it is little bit flexy, which fine from my perspective (I think it adds comfort and I am not sprinting very often). What's you view on this?
I have no rode the bike except around the block the one thing i will say is i noticed how comfy the bike feels usually aero bikes feel very rigid but this bike seemed to handle the road very well maybe this is due the more compliant bar, tbu sometimes companies build this in to the package to allow that comfort like bmc, I will get to ride it soon and see how it handles for sprints and my weight.
I would take a Canyon Aeroad over this. I bought an Aeroad Disc in 2017 with Di2, but sold it in 2020 as I was no longer riding it. Still love them though 👍
yea aero bike weighed stock out the box with aero water bottle and storage system installed on bike, remove that stuff it is in the 18lbs for sure and it is full aero
Perfect example of why industry is failing....no name wheels, bar..super heavy with RVAL for 6500? only only 30 mm tires? old design and old group...and the spotlight is the water bottle? We have a huge difference of opinion that " they did a great job on this high end bike"
the wheels are there own brands wheels just like other companies are doing, so they just released last year and also the rival groupset on any bike is heavy and makes the bike weigh alot but the rival group is bomb proof it works well and can take the miles of any rider, you can get 32 tires on there but they say 30 but it has room for it, the bike itself rides amazing and also is very comfortbale for an aero bike not rigid like most, i think this bike is a great build I think they are dropping the price of the bike next year to be competitve but this was the price of rival ubilds with crabon wheels across the board and the industry
Great value. In Europe either Orca Aero or Foil RC Pro are pretty cheap for what you get back, mind the stock availability. With different handlebars, carbon cranks and 353 NSW it gets sub 7Kg (w\Out storage ofc) Thx for the video GC!
Bro for 2k I have much better bike than that 7.630 with pedals not even carbon wheels and heavy shifters calipers and seat post how are you feeling that Mt 2k>it's much better than that orbea
lmao I know i already got so many comments about it, but I wieghed it with aero bottle and also aero fuel cell, without that it would be 18lbs for sure and also the bike is like you said a full aero bike with rival group set, all full rival builds are tankish but they are just that they are bomb proof and workm, you can easilly remove weight on this bike

What are your thoughts on the Koga Kinsei Pro? I am really curious 👀

Frame looks great for sure but overall expensive & heavy for what it is.

@ indeed. Again the lines are great. Just a bit expensive. Probably cheaper in Europe as a matter of fact
3-4k will be more sense but 6,5k for this? no way
damn that is pretty cheap, lets say you removed the carbon wheels then yea but I mean the group alone is 1600 and the wheels are 1600 and then frame
Obviously sick bike. Looks super aero but tour magazine tested it slower than tarmac sl7 and even without the storage is still heavier.

hahahah yea the bike is meant for speed for sure
Awesome bike and color
Thank you, I love it too!

Daaaamn, 9kg

19 LB? Is this 1983?
Wich size would you reccomend for 179cm height and 82 inseam?
go medium I think 53
I would take a Canyon Aeroad over this.

not for me I dont like the aeroad system or how they feel while riding the feel brittle to me, but these are all preferences
19 pounds! Heavy! $6500!
yea aero bike weighed stock out the box with aero water bottle and storage system installed on bike, remove that stuff it is in the 18lbs for sure and it is full aero
can bike companies start selling bikes with no wheels.. can get so much better for so much less buying own wheels as you know.. sick frame
lmao you can buy a frame
19 pounds ? 😮
Perfect example of why industry is failing....no name wheels, bar..super heavy with RVAL for 6500? only only 30 mm tires? old design and old group...and the spotlight is the water bottle? We have a huge difference of opinion that " they did a great job on this high end bike"

thats aweomse yea you can buiold these up pretty light, if this was my bike I would for sure have a series to make this thing light on it
Falath Evo>Orca Aero
My friend bought an ex demo sram red top of the range with metron wheels for £3800 sterling.Yes a fast bike but a tad heavy....
holy shit that is a crazy deal for sure
Crazy heavy and SRAM rival for a crazy price. Flop
sram rival is always a tank but such a workhorse of a group there is a ton of ways to remove weight from this bike pretty easilly
Bro for 2k I have much better bike than that 7.630 with pedals not even carbon wheels and heavy shifters calipers and seat post how are you feeling that Mt 2k>it's much better than that orbea
ooooof, these are the range of these bike brands out here, I think they are lowering the price this coming year to like 5500
@GCPerformance18 what the heck it's wrong with bike industry
"It is so heavy!!!" squad incoming, guys, nobody cares about weight anymore. BTW this is AERO bike, not climbing bike.
lmao I know i already got so many comments about it, but I wieghed it with aero bottle and also aero fuel cell, without that it would be 18lbs for sure and also the bike is like you said a full aero bike with rival group set, all full rival builds are tankish but they are just that they are bomb proof and workm, you can easilly remove weight on this bike
No Glove, no Love..
