- In this video Mark Donovan of homeadditionpl... reviews the product "Wet & Forget Outdoor with Rapid Application". The beauty of this product is that it attaches directly to a water hose and is capable of shooting a jet stream 30 feet in length. Mark shows in this video how he used the product to reach the peak of his roof, even from two stories up on a ladder. Mark also shows the results of applying Wet & Forget Outdoors on his roof several years ago. The results show that Wet & Forget Outdoors indeed eliminates moss, mold and mildew from roofs.

Great video. Great product, the first time I used it, had 3” of healthy moss on the roof. A friend bought it over and he applied it as directed (don’t wet the roof first, spray it till it starts to drip, don’t scrub or rinse off, and not right before it rains. Let it dry well before it gets wet so it can be absorbed the first time). It said we might have to do another application but it was fall, we figured we see what happens and readdress come spring. In a few weeks, he’s driving down the road, we’d had decent fall rains. And he slams on brakes, and is like have you looked at your roof! I’m like no - the Moss was gone. Completely and totally gone! No bits and pieces left..clean as a whistle. I have been a believer ever since. And I have used a lot of other things, don’t be tempted to use a knock off because it cheaper. The active ingredient might be the same, but the proprietary ingredients and ways it’s mixed is definitely different because non work like it. There is an organic biological product you can use for Moss if you choose but for mildew, algae, Moss, etc - this stuff is the bomb.
It’s the same stuff (Alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride 9.9%) used in antibacterial cleaners, for hospitals, etc where they can’t use bleach. But besides not ruining your clothes, or the toxicity to your skin, respiratory and eyes- it can be used on so many surfaces and not harm them or you if used properly. Please go check their website and see their other products before you buy. Use it on roofs, siding, brick, wood, RVs, concrete, etc. www.wetandforget.com
I use a product called Physan20 (not Phyton27 that’s copper and toxic, nor 35- totally different products) for my orchids, pots, greenhouse, cutting tools, other plants, seeds, - it’s the same active ingredient but different strength but it’s a viruscide, bactericide, algaecide, etc. Use the mixed up solution on my hands to get rid of harmful pathogens, etc., dip orchid seedlings straight from the flask, clean bark and media, 100s of uses for all kinds of horticultural and agricultural use from plants to greenhouse to shed, barn, and I even use it to scrub the kitchen and bathroom floors. No toxic smell, really no smell at all other than a light pleasant one. The formula for dipping hands is also used for smokers so they don’t transfer tobacco mosaics virus from the tobacco to tomatoes, cymbidiums. And other plants that are susceptible. It’s helpful to use as a shoe dip so as not to transfer bacteria, virus from outside into say a kennel with new puppies and on and on. Don’t dispose of the solution in waterways/drains, it is toxic to fish but not to birds so you can clean bird baths but rinse well. I use it in my rain barrel for watering but I don’t mix it with fertilizer, etc. I don’t know that it hurts anything but one knocks out the other and it might not work as well. You can use for fish ponds, fountains but you must rinse well, let dry before refilling and putting them back in the water. It doesn’t hurt the grass etc mixed at the proper solution. Please go check their website and see their other products before you buy. You just have to read, and use the proper strength when mixing and for the specified amount of time - no more or less. Too long, might do harm, too little and might not work as expected. READ DIRECTIONS. Their website is Physan.com. DO NOT USE WET AND FORGET FOR THE SAME PURPOSES AS PHYSAN 20 due to proprietary ingredients in W&F etc.
The active ingredient in both products is used in food processing plants, hospitals, all types of commercial cleaning, and in many household products.
But one thing I will warn you - 1) you will use a lot more product this way (same for lawn care type products too) 2) everyone’s pressure whether municipality or well will be different. If on municipality, and early morning or late afternoon. Pressure drops when everyone comes home and starts washing cars, clothes, watering, Thus what happens is the amount of water mixing into the Wet and Forget (which hasn’t a regulator, etc) will be constantly changing and will be inconsistent. Sometimes you get too much water amd you might notice it didn’t work as well as the last time you used. Or it’s the exact opposite but your bottle is emptied and you haven’t covered a fraction of the area you normally do. Send a note to the company, and ask them what is the desired water pressure when using the bottle. The most consistent manner and least expensive is with a tank sprayer either hand or the kind that gets pulled around by your lawn tractor/mower, ATV, etc. and they have long range sprayer attachments like they use to spray large gardens, orchards, semis trucks, or even large houses, or churches, castles, commercial size buildings , etc. It will be a lot more economical. But in the meantime, if you just need to do it to keep you off slippery, unsafe roofs, spend the extra money and plan on buying more product. But use a hand 2-3 gallon tank sprayer for lower areas. Look for one with an extendable type sprayer assembly. Something like this one which happens to be battery operated. www.dramm.com/html/main.isx?sub=496
If you have a large property and a mower, etc with a hitch - buy a pull along tank sprayer, large battery will be connected on the tank trailer. You will never regret theses because you can use on the house, garden shrubs, trees, lawn, driveway, you name it (from cleaners, liquid fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, etc). And you can use so many other pull along accessories too with a hitch enabled mower, ATV, small tractor, etc.
A friend was using a lawn product, using a similar bottle type and kept saying something about they didn’t have very good product quality control - 1) it didn’t always work as well, and 2) she kept running out, it said it was suppose to do 1/2 an acre and she wasn’t getting 1/10 of an acre done. She mentioned to me about her water pressure inside the house - sometimes she almost got none, other times it was okay. But she would talk about how the weeds sometimes looked great like they had been fed instead of killed. Turns out after a plumbing event and talking to the plumbers, they found out how much the pressure was changing throughout the day and week. It happens everywhere even on a well - not because of other people’s use but due to your own. Think about it you want to water your flowers and your wife is washing a load of clothes and at the same time your teenage daughter with waist length hair is taking a shower. Guess what happens to your outside spigot? And as the washer cycles water end and out, the pressure changes too. At my house, it was I’m going to take a shower, don’t put the washer on or otherwise be running lots of water. I’m sure with a larger pump this can be solved. You ever noticed hotels even on municipality water, always has great pressure.
And keep in mind just because it says 4 gallons doesn’t mean you have to fill up 4 gallons. Look at their other products, or look at horticultural, agricultural, commercial cleaning or painting supply companies to see what they have.
Something I was watching him do that’s a no no at least for most houses.
DO NOT SHOOT UP INTO YOUR SOFFIT... YOU ARE SHOOTING WATER UP INTO YOUR ATTIC. IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE ME, DO IT, FINISH THE JOB, IMMEDIATELY GO UP THERE AND LOOK AT THE SOFFITS. IF YOU HAVE INSULATION CLOSE OR EVEN ACCIDENTALLY INSULATIONS GOTTEN OVER IN THE SOFFIT AREA - IT WILL BE WET TOO. IT NEVER RAINS UPSIDE DOWN SO THESE SREAS AREN’T DESIGNED TO GET WET THERE. THERE SHOULD BE GOOD SIZE SCREENED HOLES UNDER THE COVERING THAT HAS LITTLE SLITS. This is what ventilates your attic and causes the pull of fresh in and makes the hot stale air go out the gable end vents, or the ridge vents, or roof whirlybird, etc. Now if your attic has been completely sealed and made into a conditioned space and you have mechanical ventilation system in the attic - fine. Rain up all you want. Don’t ask me how I know this ... it’s not pretty especially when you do it every month for years getting rid of cobwebs, bird and wasp nests, etc.
Not great on my metal roof
I used an alternative product = Wash Safe's 'Roof Safe' to remove moss. Safe for plants and animals because it's hydrogen based. Doesn't have an applicator like Wet&Forget, but I used one application (even used it in the late fall) and it worked, and it was thick, old moss on there for years.
Ty get vid! Don’t forget to wear eye protection and gloves. If you get it in your eyes it could make you go blind.
I used this and had the faucet at about half strength. After about three minutes the nozzle came flying out of the Wet and Forget canister. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, I put it back on and lowered the water pressure, but it came flying out of the canister again. Useless
Just wanted to add, I contacted Wet and Forget and they sent me a new bottle by UPS, arrived in less than a week. They stand behind their product
@@brianmcglynn8865, this is happening to me, too!
I tried that stuff and could only get it to spray 15 feet at best. Then on my second attempt the black plastic nozzle shot out. If I was in tall grass or anything like that I would have never found the nozzle again. I am not referring to the part the hose attaches to but the tip that the liquid sprays out of. I wonder if they make a tip that sprays further. Not the same blue tip that attaches to the one that shoots out across your yard so you will never find it ever again but the black one the liquid comes out of but modified some for better spray distance. I don't like high places and really don't like ladders much either. I wonder if those are the same reasons everyone else who buys this stuff. The building I want to use it on has a rather steep roof and I don't want to go up there. The other reason people like these products is that they don't like scrubbing. I get rust stains from our water and those are nearly impossible to just scrub away so you can see why I don't like scrubbing either.
Same happened to me, I found it and replaced it but it kept shooting out, very disappointing. not sure I can trust it again
Make sure your getting 60psi OF water pressure from your water source. There alot of variables, the diameter of the hose the length of the hose is the hose leaking, and most of all the water pressure coming from the source all plays a part.
Can you use the bottle again to mix from a bottle of concentrate? What is the mix ratio compared to mixing from bottle of concentrate?
I do not believe so.
@@HomeAdditionPlus Why? Does the sprayer part not remove from the bottle?
@@2wrdr I don't think they want you to reuse the application bottle, possibly for safety reasons.
@@HomeAdditionPlus Actually, I just found where they sell refills. All you do is move the sprayer to the refill bottle and you are ready to go.
So it works...Spraying it on works. How about doing it's job by making the mold disappear? Lol
Thanks for giving me some hope. My roof is like yours was. I've been thinking I'll have to come up with 13,000 for a new roof. I'll try this instead. I'm in central Ohio where all it ever does is rain (or ice/snow). The roof is almost always wet. Thanks again.
I was just looking at my roof where I applied this a few years back. There is ZERO mold or mildew or moss on those shingles still, thanks to Wet & Forget.
@@HomeAdditionPlus Wow. Thanks so much. That's what I've got to do for sure, no way out.
It will shoot out according to you water pressure.. that simple
I have been researching options for clearing moss on my house, and this is the information I have been looking for. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video I have to get that I have just the stuff that you mix together and also I like to picture of the lake
Why won't Amazon ship that product to my California address? What's in it?
Not sure, but haven't heard any other state preventing it from being shipped to.
I just purchased some at Costco in California
If the moss on my roof is fairly thick, if I regularly apply this to my roof will the moss die eventually?
Yes, it will eventually come off after two or three treatments and many months. I helped the process along by using a soft broom to remove the heavy dead/dying moss after letting the Wet and Forget application have time to work, e.g. 3 to 4 weeks per each application.
Yes IT Will . With time . IT all so depends on. Did you apply it on a hot day or an overcast day how much dwell time was there before of operators and how much rain you get all those plays in to How long its going to take . It’s a process and it will work after six months if you noticed no difference or very little, repeat the process early in the morning before the sun comes out or in the evening to maximize the dwelltime
Great video wow nice Haus Lakefront love it
Why so f^^^^^ expensive?
Gotta pay to play, bucko.
Thank you for making this helpful video.
Comprehensive and helpful. Thanks!
@HomeAdditionPlus Was there an update video on that green moss you showed us from this video? I had a search for it on your channel but can only find the older 7 year video. Also was your roof Asphalt Roofing Shingles? Many thanks! Glad I found your channel, lots of useful information here!👍
Yes I did do a follow-up on this video. And yes, all these years later no return on moss. It also helped after I removed some of the trees that were blocking the sun.
Thanks for the reviews. I just got a letter from my insurance company telling me if I don't fix it in 1 month (It's January and covered in snow) that they would drop my policy. I can't use this product until it's 55F it looks like. *sigh* it's always something ;)
Give Roof Maxx a call. They are insurance approved and can extend the life of your asphalt shingles.
Thank you.can I get this product in India
Thank you very helpful video
How do you know when your container is empty.? Thanks.
Are you joking lol?
When using on deck how long before you can put furniture back on deck
I would think as soon as it is dry, or within 24 hours.
Great video. Thank you
Does it clean windows as well?
According to other You Tuber, it works on windows too.
Great vid!
Just used it on vinyl siding.. worked awesome.. much better than anything else I used.. I sprayed full on high area and brushed on the area I could reach with a telescopic Oike and brush.. the house never looked cleaner.
Did you post a video of the reults?
Yes I did. Do a search for it on my youtube channel.

Hi, how many bottles did it take to do the roof of your house?
A bottle does approximately 3,000 square feet, so just do the math for your roof. Total square area of your roof divided by 3,000.
