I wore this out on genesis, part 3 was my favorite, I loved getting the chain and just play the whole race while hold down the button to swing the chain. Then no one could touch you that chain was hell. Cops where a little tougher to take out but when your good you just boot that jerk into an oncoming car and that's it for the copper. I used to love the big jump on the Hawaii level, if an opponent was unlucky enough to be beside me after I'd hit the big jump, right at the highest point when your in the air a swift kick would send them crashing to the ground below never to catch up again, man that game was fun but in a beat"em up type of way
Ooooooo the memories, never thought I’d see the day when I would be online talking about this game. Internet was just starting back then, some had it and most didn’t, nobody really gave a shit about it and life was good.
played this on the PC back in the day. My mom was mad because the save game menu was in the bathroom of the bar and there were condoms in the toilet. I tried not to save when she was around.
This is the first video game I ever remember playing, as a five or six year old on my tech-savvy uncle's Windows 95 rig. It went on to become the first game installed on my own computer when we finally got one several years later, and it never ceased to be totally fucking awesome.
Great review for a great game. I forgot that all the licensed music doesn't play while racing. The music was one of the best parts of the game. I remember buying this for Playstation when it came out, and hoping that a new version of Skitchin would be coming out after. Sadly, that never happened. Skitchin was probably my favorite for Sega Gensis. Dunno why, but I always enjoyed it more than the Road Rash games, even though they were all phenomenal as well.
I loved this game on PC back in the day. It had its own unique charm with the silly character designs and the "beat the hell out of your opponents" attitude.
I remember the day my brother came into my room and gave me this game. I must have been 5-6 years old and I was so happy! The game really was my childhood for many years. I loved it!
I'm going to get this game. I like the 3Dish 2D graphics, I like the cheezy cinematics, I like the GTA Racing type of gameplay! Thank you for reviewing this game!!!
I have bough a sega saturn just mainly for this game,I have played the shit out of it, when it came out and missed those good times, they should make a new version of Road Rash based on this one but better with more tracks more cut scenes and kick ass music and updated graphics :)
Dug this out tonight after finding it and remembering this review, and discovered an easy way to win alot of races, You get a massive speed boost if you successfully kick other racers (L2 button) Even on the worst bikes you get a massive speed boost.
Oh, I hope you guys get a chance to review RR: Jailbreak. That one does some of the things on the wishlist that this one could not. Like real music while in the game and split screen, duel player. Plus, it's just a whole lot more fun.
its no regular music in this game because the playstation has to stream the mapdata because the maps are so big and require more ram than whats available.
@mailxxman I am in the list of comments. Oh there was a game developer that shut down that was making a remake of this too bad they never got the chance
Everyday after school as a child.. This was my childhood.
Me too. this game give me hours of play
Same stranger. Same .

That intro, that is what motorcycles are to me. Now, at age 30, I still ride a 90's era supersport; ROADRASH - BIKES, BABES AND BEER!

This and Road Rash 2 for Sega Genesis were the 2 best one's.

Is the Sega CD port the only one that features redbook audio (i.e. Soundgarden) WHILE you race?
Damn so many memories playing this with my cousin as a kid ;(
I have the PC Version, the PS-Version looks nice.
Road Rash JAIL BREAK for the original PS is also a great RR Game, especially in 2player-coop-mode
I used to play this at my neighbours house as kid.
This game was my childhood
I still own this game. Still a lot of fun today.
I think I found a game that I played in the long time but forgotten about the name.
I played the demo without even knowing that it was a demo.
Did not know english very well back when I was a kid, lol.
Best soundtrack specially Jessie by paw still have this in my song list after all this time plus rusty cage retro classic
i think the theme to this road rash felt better than the sequel roadrash 3d.
Please PSN release this in the PS1 classics!
SOUNDGARDEN! I"M GONNA SHAKE MY RUSTY CAGE!
The Sega CD has the licensed music during gameplay too.
Oh my god this game got me hooooked! Always playing this with my cousins

@mailxxman I am in the list of comments.

The Road Rash series needs a reboot.

Have it on Saturn, love this game...
If you dig Road Rash you should check out Road Redemption on Kickstarter.
i loved this game but i am still pissed at activision for shutting down bizarre creations because bizarre were working on a new road rash game
you guys should review road rash 3d. YES it is a different one
Oooooo childhood....
@cornchippers He has already done it. He reviewed it for the 3DO
@LiveToby
that is also the reason why there isnt a 2 player mode.
I like Soundgarden :( Well, at least 2 of their albums. Not their newer stuff.
