Man, it's funny watching these videos in October 2024. I love the friendship you two have, I have a friend like that myself :) Known since babies! We are both only a couple years from 30 now. Time flies.
When my weekly Thursday reminder goes off at 1:59pm MST, I get pretty damn excited to see you fellas. I'm not entirely certain what cut of beef that was, but I was drooling by the end. Great video, guys!
If you’re so scared of scratching the guard when you’re sharpening it, put a few layers of painters tape on it and peel it off when you’re done 👌🏻 If I ever bought one of those, it would be used regularly
The time lapse shot of the fire burning down then stopping on martenn’s hanging foot was freaking awesome. It’s super impressive to see how far the cinematography has come in these videos.
Take that tenderloin (Cover it with olive oil, Montreal steak seasoning, pan sear it) and put it in a smoker with some mesquite hardwood for about two and a half hours at 225 degrees and you got perfection my Dutch Brothers!!!!
As I watch your video I can’t help but think of Maarten’s beautiful mother. I can imagine it would be hard to just keep going and doing the same thing. You want to the world to stop turning just to show that she existed and was wonderful. I can’t even imagine losing mine but I know one day it will come. My thoughts are with you guys and just know halfway around the world here in Phoenix, Arizona, USA that I care. ❤️
I saw Rockstead DON like Mikkie B has was for sale this week. I really like it. 67 HrC! Then I remembered that I wanted Falkniven Northern Lights NL5 Indun in cowry x.for MUCH longer Well surprise; surprise, DBK does a follow up video on it! That's really fantastic timing!!! You two friends have such deep wells of profound humanity. No matter what you do or do not. No matter where life takes us, I'll remember you and all the fun I had watching your videos and trying the knives. Also the ones I skipped after starting to get one. I love the music too! Thank you for the video today!
Do a video on the Glock Field Knife guys, please. It's cheap but some folks absolutely love it, some hate it. Has some undeniable history that's for sure.
I can really see a difference in you guys. I'm sorry yous are going through this. I can't wait till yous are feeling back to normal. All the best to you both.
Dear Sir, as one of the numbered dbk knife owners in kickstarter and captive fan of yours, please receive my condolences from Somalia... And please also put up your zipper, in the last scene some little bird was about to escape...
Don t say sorry for the video... u can make a video on whatever u want couse is not about the video its about u guys u're the stars!!!!! Thank u for all love from Italy 🇮🇹🤙
The jacket that mikkie is wearing looks so cool I used to have one that looked like it but I lost it Also I’m so used to seeing you guys in the forest that It was a bit weird seeing you guys in town
I have the plain old vg10wolfram and love it was expensive enough but if I had this cowry x version I wouldn’t dare use it. So FairPlay for having the balls 👍
When are you guys going to do a review of a Winkler Knifes, especially the Winkler Belt Knife and the Field Knife? Winkler made the knives and tomahawks for the movie “Last of the Mohicans” movies. Great knives made in classic early American designs.
...and relief. You're totally right on price and being too pretty making you baby knives a bit. It's why I've switched to micarta instead of wood and inlays on any BRK I get, it's cheaper, you still get the same blade and I'm more inclined to use it as a tool.
I couldn’t find a review and destruction test on the bushcraft black on your channel. A vs. battle with the pathfinder and the black would be interesting to see.
You guys have some fun videos to watch. You know... I wonder why you don't test out Buck Knives. And for me in the bush I use my knife for everything and I know I have a good one if I can shave a week beard off. Not a Sunday best but at least give me a fresh face. It seems to me ease of food prep. Setting up camp. Taking apart animals (pigs and deer) a good hot shave, and not worrying about my knife poking through the sheath if I fall are most important. To me the 110 is still the best. Fits all of my realistic requirements. I would love to see a video about the 110... mostly for the humor you guys bring to your take on the knives. And honestly it would be fun to see you shoot the 110 out of curiosity.
Hey Cormac, thank you so much for your kind words!. I actually had a buck 110 but traded it along the way. The build quality was amazing but I didn't like the edge retention on it.
@@DutchBushcraftKnives hahaha cool. you know they make them in sv30 now. And the shaving may be cool to add to your testing. Right on... still funny stuff!
Great video DBK-guys. Super nice al-rounder-type knife in overall design and qualities. For me - yes - too much $$$. That said, I'd wager it's great in hand; and perhaps it retains much of its value even as a user when well taken care of. As pointed out... the sheath is also a great looking design. I think it is highly relevant content for you guys to have, share, assess, and use this kind of knife === no matter the price tag. Good stuff DBK!!!
Sweating my butt off here in Arkansas with heat indexes of 110 F or 43 C to see you two in jackets. I miss Heidelberg Germany at times like this. Yeah nope can't afford this knife, (my wife would uhm throw a fit) but luckily I get to use knives daily if I want and Arkansas has great ownership and carry laws. Personally any Fallkniven would find a place here. Closest I have is an SRK in VG10 and a Trailmaster in VG1 both by cold steel and I love em. Great seeing that one again, it is a beauty!
@@bobjohnson1633 Actually when younger the wife and I talked of moving to Montana. It is beautiful. However it is a bit nicer here in the winter months with temos in the 50's and up to 70.
I enjoy the cooking videos a lot, I hope you guys continue making them from time to time. All my best to you during this tough time Maarten, DBK army stands with you.
I collect swords (as well as knives), but they must be real swords with sharp edges/points as appropriate. Therefore, they could have combat effectiveness, but I’m quadriplegic. I can barely lift them, let alone swing them. Even a collector needs authenticity in their collection. Then again, I EDC my Rockstead folders!
You guys make this hobby worth it. Keep posting all that useful amusing content and I hope whatever is going on you continue to stay in high spirits. Later fellas.
Hanger steak is what we call that cut here in Canada. The butcher told me it's the muscle from a female dairy cow that holds the milk sack and udders up. For real outdoor work with knives that baton and get shot with steroid soaked pellet rifles, I'm all about straight, simple 1095 carbon steel. 👍 😃
Well, well, well the gentlboys are back with a cozy story about the impact of high quality sweet stinky while playing with sharp sticks. Careful boys, no falling down while running with expensive metals in your hand 🖐. Who brought the donuts ?
Thoughts on the Bark River Puukko? Also, any chance you can do a video going over different blade shapes and their pros and cons; specifically the Nessmuk, the Kephart, the Puukko, and the Aurora? Thanks! I've seen EVERY video you've put out (yes, even the very first ones w/o intros that don't show Maartin's beautiful face)! Thanks for the laughs and knowledge!
I can't see myself paying that much for a knife. Fortunately, I live down the road from one of the best bladesmiths to ever be on Forged in Fire, and I'm currently finishing designs on my own knife. It will still be expensive, but only about half the cost of that one.
a few months back actually. I thought this week sounded better as well! We're not quite happy yet with these as they're often effected by bad connection.
I saw that rusty old oil drum behind you both and hoped you'd go for it with the knife Lynn Thompson/Cold steel "style" 🤣 I get the expensive knife thing, but as a user/tool you'll get pretty much the same performance for a lot less money. That type of money will also get you a knife from a world class maker, but if you've the money and it makes you happy then that's what matters I guess.
In Zac in the wild's latest video he mentioned you guys were working on a video together for the benchmade puukko but the project was scrapped. When can we hope to see a collaboration between you guys!?
Old video but… honestly guys. This knife belongs only with a certain type of people and you’ve mentioned a few. Collectors that put it on a shelf to be admired. Crazy rich people that can buy these like it was Mora 511s’. Then there is an extremely small group just like you. You have the means to buy it, you have the respect for what it is, but most importantly you also know how to restore a used edge to better than factory levels… and with that said, I think it’s a damn shame it doesn’t get used more. This knife was made to be used, and I couldn’t think of any better users than you! So do us all a favour and stop dreaming of your dream knife and start putting it to use. Would this channel exist if you had put that first Fällkniven A1 in a cabinet because it was too fine to get dirty?
Thanks for the video. In your first video about this knife you treated the handle with wax or something. Could you describe how you did it? Thanks from Claus / Heavy Metal Expeditions
I love your guys energy when testing or just having fun but it was so refreshing to have a nice calm video of just two friends having fun.
Well done guys, tough times indeed but great to see you pushing forward…

Keep up the good work guys. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you and your families. Your videos make all of us here smile so Thank you.
Yesterday I shot a video of my Rockstead knives two years on as EDC carries. It’ll be out on 18 June. Don’t waste expensive knives, use them!
2nd time back for a car repair. In the waiting room. Thankfully your familiar faces were there in a nice video to take some of the stress off. 👍

i paid 38 euro for mine....was fantastic for that price, had it almost ten years until i broke it by batonning with the back of an axe after a while.
Things are getting back to normal, Micky strugging to start a fire, LOVE IT!
Enjoy yourselves guys and friendship is awesome. Lost my best childhood to adulthood friend awhile back. It’s weird Richie isn’t here anymore.
always excited when you guys post.
I like your DBK knife in Elmax better and the price is also better.
Bcs of you two, I bought on the same day NL5 & Bushcrafter Folklore Magnacut-which will arrive in Jan 2023.

Probably not an accident.

SUP GUYS 😉👍🏻
Miike is car jacking AGAIN!
Wait until those mushrooms kick in 😉👍🏻
