I'm going to sell my daughters MK2 in some weeks, but nevertheless good to know how relatively easy some things are to be fixed. Maybe it's more or less similar at my MK3...? Thanks again a lot for your efforts & Greetings from GER! 🙂🤜🤛
Keep struggling with mine as only a pump on the floor for your foot, going to north Yorkshire to a show on Saturday with transit, have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend
Thank you so much! You heleped me a lot :) It was almost completely the same with a facelifted version of MK2. The only difference was this plastic screws - there was only one, quite troublesome though. Greetings!
Another good clear video. I'd liked to have seen the removal of those two black plastic fixings as they can be fiddly (and a stand under the car as well as the scissor jack, not just a wheel). Something I've found is that if the washer fluid is months old (or possibly the washer concentrate but I don't know) then you can get a snot-like translucent material floating in the bottle that can get to the washer jets and block them beyond pinning out, probably only apply to your £100 Micra in your fleet. But this might be like the intermittent fuse and intermittent new brake light bulb filament and only happen to me it seems.
Hi Nta16. Interesting comment as always. Thank you. Perhaps it’s worth making a separate video that explains how to remove those plastic screws. They often just spin. Ours did!
@@CarSpyTV I find a lot of those types of fixings can be single use but there are so many different sorts and sizes and of course often they will all go back in and work - except one or two of course.
@CarSpyTV Those plastic things look like screws but they are infact plastic scivits which you just pull out. Ther usually a one time fit so you'll have to replace with a new one. They usually have a raw plug effect when pushing home😊
Great video. I need to diagnose and fix why my wife’s washer jets aren’t working on her MK2 focus. I can hear the pump working but only the occasional dribble comes feebly out of the jets. Does anyone know if there might be a blocked filter or a build up of sludge in the bottle? I guess stripping it down and taking a look will answer that, just wondered if anyone had any experience of my problem too?
Thanks. Glad you like the video. As you suggest, there are a few potential causes such as blocked jets, blocked pipes, leaky pipes, weak pump, etc. If it was my car, I'd check the easiest option first, i.e. blocked jets. The following video might help. See: ua-cam.com/video/DL2GMIkcqXw/v-deo.html
Smart arse comment first; When you press the washer/wipe switch on the wand,if the wiper works, then the switch is ok.second dumb comment, I cant seem to get the filler spout to line up and reconnect with the tank,so when I fill with water,as it reaches the the spout point it leaks! Is there a way of wiggling the tank so it makes proper water tight connection with the spout, many thanks.
It’s tricky to know what’s going on without seeing the car in person. However, my thoughts are: 1. Loosen the bolts so the tank can move slightly, then line up the filler pipe. 2. See if there’s anything in the way that stops the tank (or filler pipe) sitting in the right spot. Also, I once had a leak from the filler pipe where it entered the tank. I added a thin layer of gaffer tape and that fixed it.
Seriously??? Is it just me or is all this dismantling absolutely ridiculous for something so minor as a screen washer pump? Ford needs to get their act together. Very useful video by the way.
Mine's working just fine, but just the curiosity of how it's all fitted in there and how it functions was enough to watch the entire vid. You're doing amazing work, as in-depth as needed, great in-sight on the details you focus on, even placing the bolts in a pattern that helps you. Keep up the great work! :)
In my experience, there’s more likely to be a problem with the pump than the wiring. To clarify, you need to simultaneously operate the switch to take a reading with the multimeter.
Thanks mate, there’s a lot of weight above your head, chock the body with a few bricks,on a hot day tarmac can give way. Just my neurosis it fans in the ramily!
Hi there, i have literally have the same focus lx. Does it have cruise control? I've been trying to put it on and not sure if it even has it 🤣 if so how do i turn it on?
Hello. Our Focus Mk2 Hatchback (2005) has a single pump. I'm not sure if every Focus is the same. When you try to clean your front window, can you hear the pump spin?
Great showing how and where…I’ve got 2009 ford focus and couldn’t find the fuse for water pump, try looking up diagram and all of is US version 😢 do you where I can find it? As pump work but dies and then works next day which I think it is fuse? Thanks
@@CarSpyTV thanks for head up…I did chat with near by garage and said could be filter clogged up because screenwash could change into gel 🙄 we did put baby disinfectant init in case and work perfectly….until marks the car and having to wash it twice 🤦🏻♂️
I'm not sure what the brown is at this point. A ‘butchers’ is clearly required! What a great phrase that is. Apparently, it comes from rhyming slam, specifically 'butcher's hook'.
Hi CarSpyTV , I have a 2008 Focus MK2 and Im wondering would you know a way to temporarily get rid of a dash light warning?. I recently failed my NCT(MOT in UK) for an ES Stability light being on the dash(the dash light of a pic of a car and skid marks behind it. Anyway brought it to mechanic thinking it may be the cluster needed to be re-solded but no the issue is its a ABS pump that has gone and needs to be replaced. He is trying without luck to find a second hand part in scrap yards etc rather than ordering a new one which could cost up to 1k. Anyway all I need to do is have the engine warning light off by the 9th Sept when I bring it back to the NCT centre(MOT) which would give it a pass it as its only a visual check needed. It would give us more time to source the part and pass the test if somehow I could make the light go away temporarily. Would you know of a way?. Funny thing is I haven't even asked him yet!. btw im driving it around in the meantime its safe he says.
You might be able to cancel the light with your mechanic's OBD2 scanner. However, it might come back on straight away. You'd have to try to find out. Good luck.
Had engine warning light come on every time I started up ,first thing to do is turn ignition on and off quickly 3 times it work for a while.I then noticed a slight crackling sound on the radio when I turned ignition on and off, after much u tube searching I found connecting block on the ignition switch under te steering wheel was not working correctly
Very handy thanks. My Mk2 has weak windscreen washer spray, so I think the pump may be on the way out. If I do need to replace it, i know how to do it 👍🏻

Very thorough approach to identifying and resolving a problem. Glad all is well now.
Mrs CarSpyTV is certainly pleased. She can see through the windscreen now!
Hate this designs that simple water tank is a pain to access.

Have a mk2 ford focus and the front windscreen fluid works fine but I don’t get no fluid on the back one? Any ideas ? I can hear the motor turning
Perhaps the pipe's leaking, disconnected, or blocked. Perhaps the water jet's blocked. Good luck getting it sorted.

I've followed all these steps but have no voltage across the wires in the connector, does that mean new wiring?
In my experience, there’s more likely to be a problem with the pump than the wiring.
To clarify, you need to simultaneously operate the switch to take a reading with the multimeter.
@CarSpyTV I had tried to test the connection across whilst pressing the button with old and new pump but still no voltage
If it was my car, I'd recheck the fuse before moving onto the switch and wiring. Good luck.
@CarSpyTV I will check again later after work most likely, I had checked twice yesterday but no luck, thankyou though
Nice and logical approach to chasing down the fault, I was mortified however you didn't use car stands (scissor jacks fail) 🥺
