So is the singer a dude? there is some serious voice modulation. I get why you would want a female lead singer (they tend to be more popular) and if you haven't got a girl handy, I guess a voice modulator would do the job? Its also possible the sound got messed up a bit by sound compression which is popular now (god knows why timbre was a good thing). I guess it doesn't REALLY matter, its a good pop song, just curious
