- Display the task name next to bars on the Gantt Chart.
In Microsoft Project, by default the Gantt Chart displays the resource names next to each task bar. You can format these bars to display whatever information you choose.
This video looks at formatting the task bars to display the task name next to each bar. This makes it easier to identify tasks when Gantt Charts are printed or saved as PDF.

Thank you so much for you video after trying to get to grips with Microsoft project 2013 and trying to trying to add the title which I thought you used text. You're video has saved me, It was very clear thank you. Keep up the good work.
Video did exactly what it said it would do in a short time. I've seen much longer video guides still fail to answer the title problem! Many thanks
Great, very quickly sorted my quandry. Thanks!
THANK YOU so much for this video! You really saved my ass while doing my school project! :D
Happy to help.
Thank you for very useful videos!
Great, to the point...!
I was looking for this setting...
Thanks a ton
No problem 👍
Critical tasks are a different type of task. If you want the name next to these bars also, you need to repeat the process for Critical Tasks.
Thanks so much for this video! Saved me hours of searching.
You're welcome Rachelle.
Thank you - very helpful and straight to the point💪
You're welcome. Thank you.
Very useful and simple to follow steps many thanks indeed :)
You're welcome Chris, thank you.
Cool... and adding the task ID number to left or right is now easy (due to the complex list they show on this section). Lets say if you wanted to place it on the Left of the bar chart on the main Gantt chart page either select an individual text line and bring up format bar and go to text, and here on top (rather than click any selecting any drop down items) just type in capital … ID and it will auto give the bar chart your task number lol. Have fun with all this complex stuff :)
Very good. Short concise. Could not find it in the Ribbon.
Thanks David.
THANK YOU GOOD STRANGER FROM THE INTERNET

Thanks my friend. Short and sweet.
You're welcome, Jack. Thank you.
Thank you for the video. I am using task names on top of the bars but it shows me in center aligned. Can I set that it should start to the very left of the bar?
Thanks for the info. Really helpful

You're welcome kajwdec.
I am able to show to task name next to the bars but when I display the critical tasks, the task name disappears and only those tasks that are not critical show the task name next to the bar. Is there a solution to this issue?
Thanks for showing that process. So easy once ya know, right? lol
Absolutely 😀
Thank you very much Habibi
:)
Hi, How can you display the resource name in the timeline?
and how is this done in Project Online ? thanks
How do you get the file to open and show the Gantt chart on the project start date, instead of, say, 20 years ago?
How do I format my own text for the Task Bar?
It won't happen in my case? why?
Thanks though (:
You're welcome Naman.
sir, how to put all the display next to gantt chart ( ex 30 bar ) at the same time like we change text style. Now i use to add display at bar, one by one
+Sofizan Zainal Abidin Yes you can quickly apply the same text to each bar by using Text Styles. However you will need to apply it to each style in turn. For example, normal task bars, manually scheduled bars, summary bars, milestones.Once done though this View can be saved for long term use.
@@Computergaga how to do it then?
Hello sir,
I followed the steps as you did but unfortunately the task name does not appear besides my bars. Is there any reason for this?
I suspect your tasks may be manually scheduled but you added the task name to auto scheduled tasks. Follow the video but find manually scheduled n the top half of the Bar Styles window.
@@Computergaga Thanks. This is brilliant. I had all manually scheduled tasks and once I followed your reply, it worked. Thanks again.

I added notes to display next to gantt bar but anybody knows how to format the notes text like change color and fonf size.
Kosala Gamage Click the Format tab and then Text Styles. Click the All list at the top and select Bar Text Right. Make the necessary changes.
This could literally be done in 20 seconds
Yep 3 minute video could be 10 seconds
PLEASE SEND THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD THIS SOFTWARE.
The software is Microsoft Project
this was 3 min 33 seconds. it really needed to be about 30 seconds.
Sorry, but we get there hey :) Enjoy the ride
Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "what is project planning and scheduling?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Biycarlett Astounded Builder - (search on google ) ? It is a smashing exclusive product for discovering how to download thousands of business and project management templates minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my brother in law got cool results with it.
Thank you
You're welcome, Mohan.
