@@TyeArtisik I was always interested in fame and show business from a very young age. My parents always encouraged me. My dad was a musician. He was in a band and they used to travel abroad and be quite successful. But they would never ever have ever have made me do anything that I didn't want to do. But it really makes me feel at this time in my life that the only reason why they were like that at the time is because they just cared about me.

This situation goes beyond Judy. This was a time when thin was in, and because females are known to gain weight quicker than men, the studios would put them on a strict diet. Like with the male actors, they would also give them pills to keep working. Judy wasn't the only one who fell victim to this vicious cycle. Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Rooney, and Elizabeth Taylor also fell victim to it. It was a problem well beyond MGM and I'm so glad we don't have that destructive system anymore.

    • @bigboomer1013

I feel that they could, but it depends on how it's done. Kids can love acting and it can give them a future career in acting and preforming in which the child may love. Also let's not forget that some shows and movies need child actors to play child roles. But when it comes to a parent forcing their child to work as an actor, that's a big no and something that should be illegal as in some way, it has the same vibe as underground child sex trafficking videos where they force children to star in them. But without the sexual abuse part. Also if a child wants to quit the acting job they consensualy signed up for, they should have the right to do so.

Hearing what she went through with that creepy man @5:30 was heartbreaking. I went through the same, but with a doctor instead. When I asked questions, he’d tell me it was normal and not to worry. I always knew it was wrong, something in my gut told me so. However, a person of power was telling me to trust them. @ microsoftpainenthusiast. It’s the beast system. Individuals that vibrate at a low level are spiritually compromised, or something else. They like finding people who have god given gifts and, inner light. They suck the life force from them.To make profit off of the physical things they produce with that light. That’s why these STARS look so depleted all throughout their lives. Stars produce light. In fact, she said she was the only one who was on her side. Unlike her mother, her father didn't force her into the business. He would always tell Judy if she wanted to not go into show business, she doesn't have to (unfortunately, he got overruled by her mother). So while Judy did have an unhappy childhood, at least she got a loving father.
Also, A Star is Born wasn't a hit until years later. At the time, it was an absolute flop, mainly because they had to edit it down due to the long 3 hour running time.

Same here. Rita Hayworth’s life was pretty sad too. James Dean had a really fucked childhood, and although his adult life wasn’t too tragic, reading about his romance with Pier Angeli was a “what the fuck” moment for me. Pier Angeli’s life too was pretty sad- she had a horrible mom.

Yes Slo4n, you're right. Its been almost 100 years since since Judy Garland has grown up in Tinsletown and not much has changed in the Industry. They should be called out and held accountable. They have ruined countless children stars lives, and it needs to stop. When I was kid, my biggest dream was to be rich and famous, now as an adult, knowing everything that child stars have gone through, I'm so glad i never became a household name and all the horrors that go along with it.

She had such a sad life but with respect, I can understand her children reaching a point where they wanted some space and not to take care of her. Still, it's sad they had issues (despite loving each other) and judy was so alone to the point she had to sleep on the couches of fans. I hope her last husband was a comfort to her. I'm glad her children have spoken so lovingly of her since and that she has definately achieved respect from people since her death.

That is so sad. Thank you so much for describing everything in the way that you do. You are absolutely articulate in the way that you describe everything exactly as it should be. You are brilliant . Thank you. I constantly find myself at your channel. I would really like you to do one about Frances Farmer.

I actually read a biography about her when I was about 20 years old. It was so horrible what she went through. There’s so much more. Her mother would pretend to leave her when she was a child- like literally leave her in a hotel room and tell her she was leaving her only to come back a few hours later and act like it was all of a joke. She was never fully in control of her money either. It’s all insane!

This Poor Child, it's a miracle she survived!! My take on this is, neither parent wanted her AT ALL, so they felt if she must be born they would use her any way they could for as long as they could and because this was so obvious to all around, they too did the same thing. She was not acknowledged as a human, she was never treated with love and empathy. I had a similar experience growing up but no where near to this degree. My heart goes out to her as it must have affected every aspect of her life till the day she died❤

I'm 59 and have loved Judy Garland since I first saw Wizard of Oz as a child. No one is a better actress/singer. I remember hearing she died on the news when I was only 6. As I got older, I read biographies about her and found out what this beautiful, supremely talented woman went through. Her life was like a Shakespean tragedy. No one should have had to go through what this poor woman did.

The fact that the way Judy was treated is the Hollywood Blueprint for child actors and it needs to change. Her family and MGM got too much success from abusing that poor kid like that and that’s why they were able to pull off doing shit like this to Brittany until now. This is a fairly new industry still in a lot of ways
Please deep dive MGM. There is good reason Shirley Temple signed with Fox.
I actually wish we’d of gotten a movie with Garland and Temple together. They were always made to be competition instead.
