@@Nyxson yes, but you wanted to play the game, but now you can't play it because it's not available on steam because that's what sony wants, so why not pirate it and enjoy the game, because after all not the developers of the game is to blame for all this bullshit, but someone from sony management
As a legitimate owner, you know how frustrating it is that piracy often seems more convenient. For instance, it allows users to avoid third-party launchers and logins. Additionally, unwanted updates-like the ones in GTA4 that remove features that you’ve already paid for. Furthermore, many multiplayer are supported by the community rather than the publishers themselves. And let’s not forget about microtransactions and cut content disguised as DLC, all while dealing with a broken and buggy state.
Gabe of Steam said 8 years ago: "We think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy. Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem," he said. "If a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24 x 7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country 3 months after the US release, and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate's service is more valuable." It would be your moral obligation to pirate a game made by Sony, since giving them money reinforces their bad behavior and just confirms that they are "in the right" to discriminate you based ON WHERE YOU WERE BORN or where you live.
Exactly. Piracy is a service problem. If you make it harder to play your game when compared to just pirating it, you create it by yourself. No sympathy for the devil.
@daseafrate2025 Oh so instead of a asking companies lowering their prices in those regions (like many actually do), people should just die without entertainment because they are poor… got it
@daseafrate2025 Who said about barely affording food and rent?! Plus, even if you can't afford it, you do not deserve entertainment?! That is the most entitled thing I have heard (at least today, I see some weird things here)
and these situations are the reason that why I love and mostly play indie games and don't care about AAA as much as possible expensive and broken at launch sometimes full of woke and politics and you also gotta deal with their stupid decisions like this
Legit copies being less convenient to play than pirated versions is such a dumb thing. I remember firing up Control on Steam a couple of months ago and encountering a black screen issue. Tried everything from compatibility modes to switching APIs. Turns out, the game-a singleplayer title with no online elements-needs an internet connection to play. My first reaction was, "I bet the cracked version doesn't have this bs".
"Why piracy is a problem" Hasn't been a problem for me, it's been great! I got fed up with all the horrible gaming practices the last 4 years I started pirating literally everything in April of 2023 and I've been having a blast!
Unfortunately people are still going to buy the game simply because the game was amazing (I played on launch on ps4p). But they will lose millions of $$$ due to this decision. If Sony wants to make their own pc launcher they should do it already.
And they will fail like everybody else did and return to Steam with open hands. Not the first time this happened, but Sony thinks that they are different… They are not… Steam will not become just another console…
In South Africa the Rand is so weak that latest games are prohibitively expensive. 10 years ago I used to buy pirate CDs but nowadays I download on sales. It means waiting two or more years to play a game but so what? The bugs have usually been patched, you can read reviews and your system can usually handle the graphics.
@Nyxson I personally don't mind games piracy. Here's why.... I still buy games legally, but I often also want a DRM free version of the game for when it's been removed, or they want to change it in some way that I don't agree with. The games industry is heading down a dark road, and piracy is one way that people fight back.
Also, let's remember something: nobody owns a game on steam, you have purchased the right to access and play that game. That can change. You, the buyer, "own" nothing. Steam owns it, and you pay to use it and have it available. And honestly, I have an obscenely large steam library, but this thought comes to my head once in a while and keeps me from buying more.
I guess they don't mind me pirating it since they can't make money from me even if I'm willing.... It's like those websites that don't let you enter without disabling adblocker. If you just leave, it's same for them since they couldn't make any money off you anyway
People can still play the single player story mode without linking a PSN account. It's just that in our case (those who are locked out), they decided based on the availability of PSN support in our region. If we can't make a PSN account set to our own regions/countries, they might as well not sell it to us. Maybe Sony did this so they could avoid more potential lawsuits down the line.
Lawsuits from who?! And for what? Plus as I said all older Sony games are still available Worldwide… Also… How the hell PSN is not supported in Japan?! Or Baltic states which are EU members?! There is no rational reason for this stupidity except for establishing same idiotic console rules on PC
@@Nyxson Take it easy, man. I'm not trying to antagonize you. Considering that people will be buying the game for full price but won't be able to access the online multiplayer due to the PSN requirement, there could be potential lawsuits from those who didn't know that a PSN account couldn't be created set to their own regions. That's probably why Sony took the initiative to just restrict the sale from regions unsupported by PSN. As for Japan, I've read they have their own package. Same with the Baltic states. Seems like a work in progress. I'd like to post a link here, but YT keeps deleting my comment.

Piracy is a problem in rich countries. In Places like Brazil where a game costs 1/4 of a person monthly wage, piracy is the solution.
