At 1:01:30 imagine showing this reaction to someone who doesnt know the show. A guy crying and screaming for help is getting eaten by a titan and they are watching this smiling as if it's the most wholesome thing there can be XD
I don't usually laugh out loud when I'm watching things by myself. But seeing you guys smiling from ear to ear as Berthold gets his head crunched by Armin had me DEAD lol
Kind of interesting that Floch's motivation for bringing Erwin back was part of Levi's reason for letting him rest. Levi could see that Erwin was tortured by his ambition. He could also see that Armin was inspired by his.
Agree. Also the speech Erwin gave on this last charge will live on as part of Floch's character. He will be the one to remember and give meaning to Erwin and the others who died on this charge. Thats why there is a shift of attitude etc.
Look at the bright side, you guys got to see these 3 episodes back to back. When the 'Armin part' came out in the manga, there was a 3 month hiatus for the manga where we all got to think he was gone. Social media blew up with people taking framed pictures of Armin to ocean, to pay tribute and so he could finally see the sea. There were a number of cosplayers that also paid tribute by dressing as him and going to the sea. It was a TIME. lol... 😂
Erwin was being eroded from the inside out by all the guilt he felt from sending his comrades to their death for his own selfish motives. However he was unable to stop pursuing his dream, unable to stop himself from being enslaved to this dream because his dream was what he was ‘drunk on’ and not only did it give him his strong sense of purpose, it was powerful enough for him to be able to throw aside his humanity in order to keep pushing through his guilt. During their final conversation Levi saw how tormented Erwin was as he grappled between his duty as a commander and his selfish desire to abandon the mission and go to the basement. By that point Levi had already developed an inkling that Erwin’s motives might not be as noble or righteous as he may have once thought. But it wasn’t until that very moment, that Levi truly understood just how deep Erwin’s obsession ran, how mercilessly this vice-like dream was suffocating him, and how much it was consuming him. As his long time friend and comrade, Levi saw that Erwin’s misguided motives made him someone who was pitiful rather than hateful. Even when Erwin, for the first time, showed hesitation and childish selfishness at a moment when his soldiers desperately needed him, Levi’s initial look of absolute disbelief and incredulous ‘huh?’ quickly changed to a face of genuine sympathy and commiseration because he understands the pressure Erwin is under and how tragic his dilemma is. Levi decided to do him the favor of making the difficult decision Erwin hadn’t been able to bring himself to make. This all ties back to what Erwin told Levi in the No Regrets, OVA: when a person hesitates or allows themself to wallow in regret, they are dulling their future decisions and allowing others to make their choices for them. But in turn, Levi’s decision did also give Erwin a chance to redeem himself before death. Hence, Erwin thanking him with a face of relief, peace, and acceptance. In a sense, Levi fulfilled Erwins’ desire for judgment (often misunderstood as a desire for forgiveness). The surmised purpose of ‘judgment’, is to bestow punishment on those who commit immorality and evil. As a result, to the remorseful sinner, judgment alludes to a possibility for redemption through punishment, something Erwin secretly felt he needed. If we want to tie in Armins’ “Those who can’t sacrifice anything, can’t change anything” philosophy: Erwin sacrificed his dream in order to change himself. He wanted to finally shed the righteous commander mask he’s been hiding behind all these years and for the last and only time, be a true commander who is truly fighting for his soldiers and humanity, not his own goals. Notice he does not parrot his usual ‘dedicate your hearts’ line. He never actually was sincerely dedicating his heart to humanity’s cause. They were empty words and he knew it. By throwing away his script and mask, he was able to finally be honest not only to his soldiers, but also to himself. The final factor that made Levi decide to let Erwin go was when he saw that even at deaths’ door, Erwin was still obsessing over his dream, still unable, maybe even unwilling, to let it go and make his peace. Many misinterpret the final rooftop scene as Erwin slapping Levi’s hand away and rejecting the syringe but that definitely wasn’t what that scene was about. He subconsciously raised his hand because at that moment in his delirium, he was reliving the moment his obsession first began and reflecting on the day he asked the teacher *that* question. Surprisingly, it’s actually the first time it’s fully revealed what Erwin had even asked that day. It’s been teased again and again how he’d raised his hand in class in his childhood, presenting a very controversial question, but what that question exactly was, was never explicitly revealed to viewers until this scene. It really sits among some of the most powerful and emotional moments in this show imo. Before leaving for the mission, Erwin himself had admitted that he had no idea what he was going to do once he fulfilled his dream of seeing the basement. Whereas Armin on the other hand was still full of dreams to be drunk on. Big dreams that have the capacity to inspire *everyone* to keep pushing forward along with him. Armin was ‘looking’ far beyond the walls, all the way to the ocean whereas Erwin’s vision was limited only up to the basement. A dream that stops at the Zhiganshina basement just simply isn’t enough to lead humanity towards the direction in which they now need to go, which is beyond the walls and forward. Erwins’ dream was a source of torment while Armins’ dream is a beacon of hope. Levi understood that letting Erwin go was the greatest mercy. He would no longer need to suffer under his dream (that honestly had become more like a curse at that point), or live every day wracked with guilt, or continue to shoulder the heavy responsibility of making the most difficult decisions for everyone, while still having to endure being called a devil or a demon. Someone in the comments for another video put it quite nicely - ‘If Levi had brought Erwin back, it would have been a betrayal and act of disrespect to his conviction’. Erwin wanted to make his peace after a long struggle and even if it took a lot for him to get to that point, and even if he himself was still wavering inside, it was his decision as well and going against it would be the same as dismissing his determination and resolve. With his wish fulfilled, he would have lived life an empty man left with nothing because he no longer has a dream to chase. Even if he had survived, it’s likely he would have never been the same commander again without that drive. On the inside, he’d just be a regular guy holding on to nothing but guilt, and guilt is a horrible and painful thing to be drunk on. As people often say, sometimes you’re happier chasing your dream than living a life where you no longer have one. You’ll continue to find this to be a heavily emphasized, central theme in this show. Thank you for listening to my TED Talk.
This needs more likes. I'm always looking for comments that describe Levi's decision and what he was thinking. I think you described it better than anyone else.
Adding to your comment, I think Erwins dream and the question he asked in class got partly answered with the appearance of annie, berthold and reiner because they don’t have any records of living inside the walls. Whereas Armin’s dream had yet to be discovered
@@ismaelal-baity3999 completely agree. As something that stretches endlessly in every direction, the ocean itself also acts as a symbol of curiosity, infinite possibilities, and hope. Armin dreaming for the ocean represents his desire to endlessly explore all the world has to offer, not just the ocean itself! Armin doesn’t cling to a singular goal or cling to the past like Erwin did. Rather, he is driven forward towards the future by his curiosity and passion which makes his dream that much wider and with, exactly as you said, so much more to discover.
"Levi decided to do him the favor of making the difficult decision he could not bring himself to make and in turn also gave him a chance to redeem himself before death, which is why Erwin thanked him with a face of peace and acceptance." Funny how people mention Erwin's "thank you" that was an appraisal of Levi's choice. It was not. He was just relieved that someone else had made the choice that he knew he would have to make anyway. Also reminder that he looked fucking sad when Levi made that choice, then came to an acceptance. It was a resignation, not satisfaction. Never deny that Erwin has a selfish dream, but he at the core is driven by curiosity, a thirst for truth and a sense of justice - things that never fade away. Erwin is inquisitive in nature; he looks beyond the Wall - that's why he asked that question in the classroom in the first place. When Erwin’s gamble paid off in the Coup and it’s proven that the government cared nothing for humanity, he reacted not with triumph but with sorrow. Rather than thinking of himself, he worried about the future of mankind: He told Nile that they were on a more dangerous path than ever before. The only time when Erwin's personal goal became a barrier to humanity's victory is in the battle of Shiganshina, where he quickly discarded his dream for humanity. *"The moment humans reveal their truest nature is when they are in the brink of death."* At the brink of death, Erwin chooses humanity. Actions speak louder than words. Erwin didn't understand that his motive isn't entirely selfish: wanted to free humanity of their government's lies and injustices. Even Isayama himself said *"Erwin is not the kind of person who prioritizes his own dream. He follows through with his responsibilities, and when the time comes, Erwin is able to give up on his dream and make the best decision."* "Even if he’d survived, he most likely would have never been the same commander again without that drive." I totally disagree with this, that's not how goals work. If a person wants to become a millionaire, it doesn't mean he stops working after he has $1 million in his account. No, he'll strive for more. Erwin had been fighting before he even knew about the basement or Eren, and it’s unreasonable to assume he would just stop fighting or he never been the same commander again without that drive if he learned the truth. People need to understand that motivations are deeper than goals. A person who spent his life to find out more about the world wouldn't stop after finding out that there's so much more to his dream and the world than he ever realized. Recall when Levi asked what Erwin would do after they retaking wall Maria, he answered, *"Eliminating threats. Apparently someone outside the Wall wants us all dead. The truth that we'll find at the basement will reveal who that someone is."* It was he who posed the question of "Who is the real enemy?" in the first place. A man all about eliminating threats isn't going to just stop after finding out the identity of the threat. It isn't in his nature to simply be "done" with his life. He'd come up with a new dream, see the bigger picture at hand and decide what needs to be done and how to go about it. Erwin would make sure the sacrifices made were not in vain by leading Paradis to victory. Not to mention that the Survey Corps now has gained the populace support, it would be a lot easier on him. His strong sense of responsibility wouldn't allow him to abandon the people when they need his leadership. Also, he would be very curious about how Titans first came into existence, like his father was going to seek the truth about them.
0:45 btw this joke that Connie makes is actually pretty fucking funny, but it makes absolutely no sense if you don't speak Japanese so a lot of people just think Connie is losing it. The joke is that "Eren's house" sounds exactly like "Eren Yeager" in Japanese. So Connie accidentally made a pun with Eren's name. But then Connie realizes that when there's a place below a house, we usually call it.... A basement lmfao. So Connie is like "One of those might be Eren's house....Yo Eren, how does it feel to become your own basement?!?!"
Fun fact: in the latino dub the house joke was with Mikasa beacuse Mikasa sounds like Mi casa which means my house in english, the joke was: "Si yo fuera Eren, podría decir que, mi casa está que arde" Translation: if i was Eren, i could say my house is on fire
RIP Erwin the GOAT Smith, Daddy Sasageyo, The 13th Commander, the Expert Conman and my favorite anime character. This trilogy will never fail to reduce me to tears like nothing else. Levi screaming “I swore” and Erwin’s “thank you” break my heart everytime.
These three eps put together is the absolute highest order of watchable media there's ever been. The emotional roller coaster is on a whole other level.
RIP Erwin and the most underrated GOAT Moblit. Man was always protecting his Captain. Then for the first time while sacrificing his life for her, calls her Hange. Fitting that the eye she lost was the eye that saw him die.
The only reason Hanji is alive right now is because she had Moblit to keep her in check. Without him she would’ve already been six feet under in season 1 lmao
The ending of this, episode 3x18. Was the first time it pulled genuine tears out of me. I have a military background but I'm sure it hits others just as hard too. Another thing that wasn't brought up in this episode, but much earlier. Erwin already named Hange as his successor. He was already ready to pass the torch to her at any time.
I will say going forward that because of what happened to hange's eye Levi officially drops the teasing nickname of foureyes and never calls Hange anything else then Hange
1:01:42 you can see for a split second, berthold sees eren and the others as his friends so he smiles in relief that hes gonna be saved, but right after that he remembers theyre his enemies and calls out to annie and reiner instead.
AOT really knows how to manipulate our emotions in the most impactful ways. Watching Armin get pulled from the titan as Erwin dies is grief and joy at the same time and it's hard to hold any emotion in. Absolute golden reaction y'all 🔥🔥🙌
Thank you guys for ur genuine reactions and for not holding anything back. Letting ourselves feel everything is such an experience. Big goofy smiling while sobbing alongside u guys
as much as i hate it whenever reactors laugh/smile when watching bert die, the image of people smiling as if they're taking a family photo while theyre watching someones head get crushed makes me chuckle violently
I think one of the reasons Levi chose Armin is because Eren, Mikasa and Armin mirrors the dream of him, Furlan and Isabel (his childhood friends). One wants to escaped being caged inside the walls and see the ocean, while the latter wants to escape the underground to live under the sky. So when the flashback happens where we see him eavesdropping on the three, Levi saw three 'kids' chasing a shared dream. Something he will never achieved since his friends are already dead.
I can’t be the only one that felt bad for Bert. For a split second he called out to “his friends” for help and realized they aren’t going to. And calls out to his 2 true friends in terror
I have no words, those 3 episodes are just amazing and it was an awesome choice to watch them three in a row. Looking forward to what comes next. As usual, things are about to get CRAZY!
OK even after watching Levi's showdown against the beast titan literally more than 200 times, hands down guys you made the best reaction on this scene that i have ever seen on any where. after all this hype I'm just dying for the reactions on episodes 4_5_6 of season 4 i mean those episodes are the absolute perfection in every single category
Eren's titan is small compared to the colossal titan, but the comparison in ep.16 was for dramatic effect lmao. Eren's titan is 15m tall, and the colossal is 60m, so Eren should technically be at the colossal's knee.
I saw a comment that Bert was delusional when he woke and called for help as Armin was going to eat him. Bert was confused of the situation like when Reiner woke up from not being very conscience. Bert confused. Thought that was interesting
I think he just reacted with instinct. He first saw friends so he called them for help. But then he remembered they are also his ennemies. Which is sad because it means he first and foremost really considered them as friends more than ennemies.
I believe Armin was the better choice. Erwin was "grooming" Armin near the end for a reason. Levi told Erwin he was going to be a "liability" (physically speaking) and he knew that and came anyway. Erwin was ready to go. He was hoping that perhaps maybe he could see the basement. That was his goal, not to see other people for himself, but simply to know if they existed. That's kinda sad compared to Armin goal.
Armin sees the world in bigger perspective, he has greater dreams. While erwin's goal/dream is to reach the basement and find out the truth. I was torn between these two and I can't help myself to literally blame isayama for this emotional damage, making these two valuable scouts (armin and erwin) in verge of dying at the same time. For me, armin already done enough especially in the end, he was carrying a lot of pressure and responsibility ever since erwin died, he was also unsure of himself, but Erwin believed in him, like what Levi said, armin has abilities that no one has. Armin has done a lot of things ever since season 1, defending them, waking up eren during the boulder scene, and many more. I feel like he do more than he done in season 4. Also some people are so sure that erwin would support eren, but we don't really know the truth if he would really support eren along the way. Maybe he will, or maybe not. Eren would still do it anyway.
And it's not even my birthday, great job you two. Yall are right Erwin's story arc came full circle. Both deserved it by their actions. The difference was Kenny's statement regarding the dreams. Ultimately Armins dream won as it represents the future. Much like an ocean's horizon, it is never ending.
watching AoT with 1 earpiece is a CRIME, I'm sorry guys but thats a deal breaker for me. Nothing stops you to put on 2 headphones and perfectly hear each other
In case nobody else has mentioned it, 0:35, that whole weird set of lines from Conny is some kind of pun in Japanese. Something about houses falling sounds very similar to "Eren Jeager". Its just Conny making a dumb joke in panic.
I had to replay y’all’s Levi vs beast titan reaction twice lol. Such a powerful 3 episodes. Good job you adorable couple! 💙. 23:55 . Make that 3 times getting the time for everyone😂.
I always wondered, in season 1, episode 5, Eren is inside the steam of the Collosal titan for a while but isn't burned or bothered at all. I always wondered if that's a subtle hint that Eren was a titan, since they seem immune to heat damage from steam. There's no way a brand new watcher would even know but upon rewatching, it's a small detail that I noticed.
I’ve finally realized the reason Levi picked Armin wasn’t because Erwin raised his hand but because he realized Erwin wouldn’t have a reason to fight anymore if he had gotten to the basement where as Armin had “bigger dreams” beyond just the walls
I was so pissed when the beast got away after all the sacrifice the surveys had to do. Omygoodness. These eps carry so much emotions. I couldn't keep up the first time i watched aot. I had to watch a 2nd and 3rd time to process all of it. I cry every time i re-watch erwin final speech and armin sacrifice. AOT= 10/10
Man i loved this reaction. I like the way you guys don’t talk throughout the episode. It annoys me when other reactors are tryna think and predict what’s gonna happen instead of just enjoying the show. Such fire episodes!
*(NOT A SPOILER)* Idk if anyone else explained this since I don't see it in the comments, but Connie was laughing at the beginning of the first episode here because the phrase for "That could be Eren's house" sounds a lot like "That could be Eren's Yeager". So Connie was laughing at that bit of randomness since the phrase sounded like Eren's name. Thus why Jean told Sasha to smack Connie.
Erwin has the experience and Insight 56:30 - "They don't need that anymore" (Not to mention that he also has Public Relations Skills, Public Speaking skills, and The Reputation) A Trusted Authority. Something now the scouts lack of...

Because they are just "Armin supporters". 😌

@@atielak That's exactly why I thought of it 🤣
0:45 btw this joke that Connie makes is actually pretty fucking funny, but it makes absolutely no sense if you don't speak Japanese so a lot of people just think Connie is losing it.
Fun fact: in the latino dub the house joke was with Mikasa beacuse Mikasa sounds like Mi casa which means my house in english, the joke was:
"Si yo fuera Eren, podría decir que, mi casa está que arde"
Translation: if i was Eren, i could say my house is on fire

Omygoodness.. Thank you for giving us the 3 eps together. Ur the best.
Peak anime right there. Peak storytelling later on
Peak comment right here.

Pieck storytelling in Season 4
@@DJS12345678 Great try but this is so overused now.
@@thedevilorder true lol
These three eps put together is the absolute highest order of watchable media there's ever been.
The emotional roller coaster is on a whole other level.
Remember, in the end Levi didn't chose Armin to live, he chose Erwin to die and that lead to giving the shot to Armin
"Their morale is so down how is he gonna get them to do that?" BOY YOU BOUTTA FIGURE OUT LMAOOOO
So true 😂
RIP Erwin and the most underrated GOAT Moblit. Man was always protecting his Captain. Then for the first time while sacrificing his life for her, calls her Hange. Fitting that the eye she lost was the eye that saw him die.
The guy that saved hange is Moblit, her/his right hand man and has been with hange since the beginning.
RIP Moblit! And Marlo.
It’s her
The only reason Hanji is alive right now is because she had Moblit to keep her in check. Without him she would’ve already been six feet under in season 1 lmao
Vince the way you smiled like an 80s wedding photo throughout Bertholdt getting eaten sent me 😂
Yes they are sus poor Bert
1:01:58 I've never seen anyone so happy watching someone's head crushed by a titan 😂
Yes
The range of emotional rollercoaster you guys went throughout the hour was insane
This is some of my favorite fiction of all time these episodes are so great
The ending of this, episode 3x18.
Why is that so considerate yet depressing
SEASON 4 SPOILERS
levi calls her four-eyes during their talk right before she sacrifices herself in s4 prt 2
RIP Moblit. The realest one.
Amen
You know Levi is a big deal when Reiner still calls him "Captain" Levi
Yes
1:01:42 you can see for a split second, berthold sees eren and the others as his friends so he smiles in relief that hes gonna be saved, but right after that he remembers theyre his enemies and calls out to annie and reiner instead.
Yes your right his wife and his brother sad 💔
I think I speak for all us fans that we completely enjoyed this 3 episode in one video. We say keep on making them! We love you both!
3 episodes! I can't wait to get off work tomorrow should be a great friday!
yo thats wild lmfao. those huge ass smiles while Bertholt's screaming for Annie and Reiner and gets chewed up. I get it but lmaoooo poor Bertolt
Yes your right
AOT really knows how to manipulate our emotions in the most impactful ways.
The single hardest choice between who to save out of two people in all of movie/series/anime/cartoon history
as much as i hate it whenever reactors laugh/smile when watching bert die, the image of people smiling as if they're taking a family photo while theyre watching someones head get crushed makes me chuckle violently
I've been watching anime for 20+ years and these episodes and the next few are the best I've ever seen.
I'm so glad you watched these 3 episodes together. Thank you for the reaction 😁
I can’t be the only one that felt bad for Bert. For a split second he called out to “his friends” for help and realized they aren’t going to. And calls out to his 2 true friends in terror
He goat too he loves Ainne 💔 yes he call Rianer
I have no words, those 3 episodes are just amazing and it was an awesome choice to watch them three in a row. Looking forward to what comes next. As usual, things are about to get CRAZY!
Wow 3 in a row??
Im very happy 😊
I love this show for the concept of titans and how they work, and the story of course
Damn they were both smiling while Bert got ate 😂
Yes
Lol!! Your guys facial expressions are so expressive!! I love it
OK even after watching Levi's showdown against the beast titan literally more than 200 times, hands down guys you made the best reaction on this scene that i have ever seen on any where.
after all this hype I'm just dying for the reactions on episodes 4_5_6 of season 4
i mean those episodes are the absolute perfection in every single category
Add in 7 too.
They had a perfect smile when Bertolt was eaten by Armin...😭
Yes 💔
Whoa you guys actually did multiple episodes hahah, major props! 🙌
A moment of silence for Moblit
The light-heartedness of her "'Perfect Game' - hmm!" was so sweet and innocent. No idea the trauma to come. 😭🤗💜🧡

You are the sweetest couple I've ever seen. I loved your reaction video. your reactions are so natural 😊
thank you!!!😭😭😭

Eren's titan is small compared to the colossal titan, but the comparison in ep.16 was for dramatic effect lmao. Eren's titan is 15m tall, and the colossal is 60m, so Eren should technically be at the colossal's knee.
yeah at first I was bit mad at that, but it's understandable in the end
リヴァイ兵長が獣の巨人を倒すシーンのリアクションが、最高でした!!😆💐👏

These episodes were so epic yall had to back to back. Loved yall reactions!
I just watched your video for the first time and o my, you should've seen the reactions I did to your reactions! you guys are amazing. keep going
Masterclass PEAK TV.
@@fs400ion yes
This bout to b every thing...thanks guys..keep on pushin
Now you see... Erwin's human after all. Him crying cuz he's unable to FULFILL his dream. As for Levi, this is the SECOND time he CRIED!!!
Annie and bert are sad 💔
RIP to the legendary commander Erwin Smith 🙏
Before this, AOT was just a great high quality show. Season 3 Part 2 is what turns it into a masterpiece, and that trend continues into Season 4.
Nah... It always was
And it's not even my birthday, great job you two.
Yall are right Erwin's story arc came full circle. Both deserved it by their actions. The difference was Kenny's statement regarding the dreams. Ultimately Armins dream won as it represents the future. Much like an ocean's horizon, it is never ending.

happy couple watching human getting his head crushed by a titan
These last two episodes were about overconfident bad guys and masterful diversions from our heroes
Thanks for the reaction ❤
I was so hyped when I first saw Levi vs Beast fight
Erwin as a slave to the basement.
Armin is a slave to the sea.
Both honorable ❤
watching AoT with 1 earpiece is a CRIME, I'm sorry guys but thats a deal breaker for me. Nothing stops you to put on 2 headphones and perfectly hear each other
Love both of your reactions. Yall just gained a new sub! Hope you enjoy the rest of AoT.
The best episodes, hands down. Now you know why he’s called Erwin THE GOAT Smith.
You are spoiling usss 🔥🔥
Oh god i can't stop crying even if i have watch this episode 10times
Legendary episodes Legendary reactions 😌
OMG 3 of them at once...
Yeah this is about to be an insane video!!
In case nobody else has mentioned it, 0:35, that whole weird set of lines from Conny is some kind of pun in Japanese. Something about houses falling sounds very similar to "Eren Jeager". Its just Conny making a dumb joke in panic.
I’m just eating up the emotions right now! Love it!
1:01:49 Somebody is dying, this beautiful couple seems very happy with that xd. Love u guys ❤😂
You guys need to watch Levi’s VA - No Regrets, then this becomes even more emotional
Berthold dying
They : 😁😄
Yes your right
Great reaction, great post discussion. Thank you for the upload, guys.
Bertolf choices may be wrong but he is a good character, and always will be
Yes l wish he tell Annie he loves her
Congratulation now all u need is note for next episodes
I’ve finally realized the reason Levi picked Armin wasn’t because Erwin raised his hand but because he realized Erwin wouldn’t have a reason to fight anymore if he had gotten to the basement where as Armin had “bigger dreams” beyond just the walls
Amazing episodes! Good reactions from you 2 as well!
*(NOT A SPOILER)*
Idk if anyone else explained this since I don't see it in the comments, but Connie was laughing at the beginning of the first episode here because the phrase for "That could be Eren's house" sounds a lot like "That could be Eren's Yeager". So Connie was laughing at that bit of randomness since the phrase sounded like Eren's name. Thus why Jean told Sasha to smack Connie.
Ohhhh
R.i.p. to the goat of the show.
Moblit.
