  • No special tools or lasers needed for this method of balancing your props. Get rid of vibrations for jelloless footage even without anti vibration mounts.

I like the idea of "feeling" for the balance! Go figure! A while back I pondered the idea of getting a variable frequency strobe light to video the entire air frame at various RPM. I think that sometimes vibration can be specific to one or another frequency and may even appear in a different part of the craft. With harmonics to boot. A trade off between flexibility and rigidity. Thanks for the quick tip.

In case you want something more "accurate" then your "feeling in the hand" ... there is/was ELMvibra ;-) ... I guess you have the skills for make a DIY ELMvibra if you want

+elm70 Thats a nice project. I've watched an old mechanic in patagonia balance the propshaft on a mercedes truck by putting it on blocks, running the drive train flat out, add a bit of weld repeat. until he could feel no vibration. It was kind of dangerous but it drove like out of the factory after that.

Why not just buy a good props balancer?
Enjoy the rest of your week

+ABMNS PRODUCTION Quite often a balanced prop will still cause vibrations once fitted due to the motor being out of balance or bad mounting tolerances.

RCHacker Yes it's also true most of the vibrations come from the motors. But motors balancing is pretty tricky in my experience.
      Have a great new week
