Ive tried explaining to my wife why I love going out to the middle of nowhere (north central Nevada for me) and setting up a simple primitive camp out there. She just looked at me like I was crazy. I had her watch this video just now with me on the 75" television and she looked at me and said, "Now I get it." As I've explained it to her before, in the simplest of terms, I love to be out there to see the purist form of our Earth. It's that moment just after sunset, or as Paul described about the the thunderstorms; it's that moment where every sense in your body is being completely enveloped by nothing but the natural elements of the world. It is truly something special to experience that. The most surreal moment I've ever had in my life was riding to Alaska, only 100 or so miles short of Prudhoe Bay. I stopped the bike and just admired the natural beauty this planet has to offer. I felt like I was in heaven at that moment. Not single sound, anywhere, but the breeze blowing through the arctic grasses and bushes. For that moment, I was the only person in the world. Thank you for EVERYTHING that you do. You are the only one I've ever seen that captures glimmers of those moments on video. It's just like a famous music artist said before, "in your head, the melody is heavenly, something you've never heard of. It is a mixture of sounds that is only repeatable in the afterlife. But as a writer, you try as hard as possible to recreate just ten percent of it. And when you do, everyone else believes it's beautiful. Only you know the true beauty in the song that is written."
I was lucky enough to share a van with Paul Marsh for 2 months driving from Ireland to Eastern Siberia. What an amazing guy! Top of my list for any trip any time. Stay safe my friends. 'Dr Rich'
I know you get high number of views on vehicle build videos. But stories about people and trips - just way better content for the soul. Thank you for putting this together.
When you are born in Africa you never really leave it. I love living in Queensland and all that it offers, particularly the sand islands, But the old familiar places in Africa in your series provide a huge dose of nostalgia. You never really leave.
Thank you Andrew. Always a pleasure to visit with your adventures. Your truly blessed to have the opportunity and support for your ongoing business venture as well as the pure joy of traveling. Paul Marsh is a brilliant adviser/friend whom anyone of us would be proud to have. 🍻Cheers, and safe travels🍻. Gabe Szekeres, In beautiful Boulder City Nv. USA.🤙🖖
You'll be happy to know that the grotty-looking Cape Agulhas lighthouse (at 0:21) has since been beautifully restored. Built in 1848, it is the 2nd oldest still-operating lighthouse in SA.
Andrew as we are all in lock down in Australia your videos are so important for people to dream while they are facing an uncertain future. Please upload old videos we have not seen from your collection. You can play an important role in these times.
Andrew , your videos are always a massive inspiration but right now , with all that's happening in the world and being in self isolation , your films are making me even more hungry for an adventure into the middle of nowhere . Keep up the excellent work please . Best wishes from the UK
Hi Andrew Wow ;-) What a great Video! You and Paul Marsh are a great team! Please continue and surprise us with more this great content in the future. Best Regards from Berlin and stay healthy, Dirk
Awesome to see some of the old footage Andrew! like Paul said about Africa, I have the same feeling about Australia and I completely get his emotion of being somewhere out bush and cleansing ones soul. having been here since 2012, I cant think of another country I would want to settle in. I love Africa and some parts of the middle east but as a wise friend once said "we all got to live somewhere" Cheers Andrew 😎
Always great to see Paul! He's always down to earth. It's my observations that well traveled people are usually very humble! It's a win for us in the industry to have people like him in this industry. More videos of both of you. It's always great seeing you both chit chat about offroad and global travel!
Paul Marsh and ASPW - Overlanding's answer to Morecambe & Wise, Starsky & Hutch or Tom & Jerry. If amazon or netflix commissioned a series with these two, I'd seriously have to consider getting a subscription.
There are a lot of 4x4 shows on but your trips are whot we can all do even on a budget but the most important thing Is how you tell the story behind each trip thank you
Thank you Andrew! Cooped up and feeling stir crazy here in New England, USA. I appreciate you generating so much content right now for us home-bound folks! Also, lovely storytelling as always. I really needed this.
You two balance/compliment each other perfectly , and... banter, so well. Haven’t had a proper rusk in ages, but will be making Biltong again this week. Cheers from Oregon and have a sundowner / OBS for me, Western AU looks like a proper spot
i think this is the shortest 24:41 minutes I've experienced... i just started watching and its done... Thanks Andrew, I really enjoy your channel... Hope to see you when you pass through Zambia...
Wonderful documentary Andrew! I love your story telling. Paul is an absolute gun! You two together on the Canning Stock Route series was epic! A lot of good chemistry between you two. Goes to show that aside from vehicles and equipment, the most enhancing element of a big trip is great company.
Another great storytime Andrew. Have meet Paul a few times when I worked at Apb trading Kidderminster and several landrover shows. Nice chap and full of knowledge in vehicle preparation.
Absolutely beautiful. Funny, lots of great humour, the beautifil African scenery, I really envy the cameraderie at the camping and..and.. Thank you so much for posting.
That was probably the most inspirational video i have watched in a long time. Thank you both for sharing your adventures and please keep them coming Andrew. Im guessing we will all be stuck at home here in Australia some time soon.
Another great video. Paul Marsh is such an interesting person and so with you gives one an insight into a beautiful country as well as great information
I think you had one of the best sleeping arrangements in the troopy you just sold. Looking forward to see how you better that in the new build. Love seeing Paul again.
@@4xoverland Pretty useful really. You can ask him to film you driving from a distance. Then he'll just teleport back into the vehicle with all the camera gear!
Really enjoyed this one Andrew, enjoy many of your films/series - but somehow this had just that extra touch. Thank you for the sticker recently received, now displayed on the small rear window on my Defender.
Paul is the most down to earth person I’ve ever “met”, thanks for introducing him to us Andrew
He recently made his own youtube channel check it out...ua-cam.com/channels/cL60cDFf6kGzfj7uGGqv_w.html
Every time Paul tosses his tent and runs away I laugh. It never gets old🤣
And he’s such a great guy to listen to and learn from.
The episodes where Paul Marsh participate are my favorites! 🙏❤️🚙
You never fail to please Andrew. Always enjoy the addition of Paul Marsh and have much respect for him. Love the subtle ending.

Watching Paul pitch his tent was the best part of the Canning Stock.
I know you get high number of views on vehicle build videos. But stories about people and trips - just way better content for the soul. Thank you for putting this together.
And I have far more fun making them!
Keep them coming Andrew, we just sitting at home for now.
@Viktor Sligo same here, gota work!!!
Friendships like this are rare! Thanks for sharing
I'm a simple man. I see "Paul Marsh" and I immediately click like.
Thats the type of reminder of stories that made your chanel so great.
Whenever Paul Marsh is with you the experience will be extraordinary...
Paul needs his own channel 100%
That would be great!
However, I would settle for a 4xoverland recurring visit from Paul too.
I have camped at Hartmanns on my own, magic place. Paul is a legend, no doubt about that.
legend. ild pay for a paul marsh podcast/video series...
As it happens, you can. www.overland-workshop.com/

Wow, just wow. A great video. Thank you for taking us "outside" while we're stuck in self-isolation. Big 👍🏾from Papua New Guinea🇵🇬.
I’m watching this at work, I’ve never smiled so much at work.
What a wonderful film! Good job using your time (self-isolation) and resources (hours of footage) to produce a bit of art.

How is possible someone dislike this video??!!!
It's not the video they dislike. It's me. Down-thumbs have become meaningless.
Very interesting men the both of you, I could only imagine the outtakes between you two. Keep them coming Andrew 👍
One of the best you have done, congrats. I am in lockdown in Nz and this just makes it a bit easier, keep in coming. Thank you.
Once again Great Video, informative and valuable content. Love Paul's sense of humor, could do a few camping trips with him.
Very entertaining! Hell of a team!
It sure will be great if I get to meet Paul Marsh someday. Never knew he has the ability to teleport.
I once asked him if he could teleport. He refused to answer. Next this I knew, he was gone.
