Gyatsos name directly comes from the Dalai Lama, Gyatso Tenzin (Tenzin is also an important name in the avatar world, but youre not there yet) but it makes for a very memorable name. Monk Gyatso was the first non-main name I remembered in this show when I was literally under 10 and the show was coming out. Partly because it literally sounds like Monkey Otso and that was funny to me as a kid.
I found out you were doing reactions to Avatar a few months ago, so I subscribed then, but I only started watching through them a few days ago. I like how you and Calvin have really in depth analyses after the episode, so I wanted to watch your reactions when I had time to really sit down and listen to your post-episode conversations. I really like your insight from 17:00 to 18:18, and never thought about Aang's journey like that before. Love your reactions so far. Welcome to the fandom.
How many cats do you have? My husband's best friend got married last weekend and he has 4 cats and she 7 and he said they also have some rabbits. I was like crap, what are they going to do? My husband didn't see the issue but 11 cats are toooooo many. I have 2, note, I know no one cares. Hermione and Cloud. I watched to the end. I like a good discussion at the end. Though if there's not much to say don't sweat it. I've seen a lot of reactors say next to nothing which displeases me greatly.
Oh wow! That is quite a lot of cats! We have 3 cats currently (Loki, Nimue, and River) and are staying with friends who have two kittens (Sam and Dean) so there's quite a few kitties around us at the moment! Which, I love!
@@CarmenYoung Sam and Dean. So cute. And I love your names, esp. Loki. Hermione was once with a Ron and a Harry but Harry passed and Ron was attacking Hermione sadly so he had to be rehomed before she got to badly hurt. He did hurt her. I'd never had cats who fought like that before and they were from the same litter. Oh well.
@@mellonlord4616 Oh no. That's so sad to read. I'm sorry that happened! At least you were able to find a new home fo rhim and hopefully he's happy and everything there. And Hermione is happy and safe with you!
Cats and rabbits sounds like a dangerous choice. The rabbits are probably bigger than the cats, and the cats are stronger. Sounds like a potentially dangerous pet combo lol. That said, I love both cats and rabbits (rabbits a little more, cause im not allergic)
Season one can be a little up and down. Like for me episode 6 is my least favorite though for most people it's episode 11. Some people criticize season 1 but I don't know any show that isn't still getting it's legs in season 1. Season one is still good, everything is built on. The main characters, side characters, the world, the magic, the tension and story arcs are all founded in this season and why seasons 2 and 3 are so good.
Totally understandable. The episode has moments that drive the story, or at least things that return later on, like most episodes. But episode 6 is one of my least favorites too.
Agreed. Most of my least favorite episodes are from season 1 (6, 11, 14 and 15). This might be an unpopular opinion but I think season 1 only has 8 really good episodes: 3, 8, 12, 13, 16, 18, 19 and 20.
@@rumaristo129 Episode 14 is fundamental to the show. It's where the theme for the whole series is first stated. I love that episode. But then I'm not one of these people that like to perpetuate rape culture so the other subject matter doesn't upset my delusional fantasies. I also again, I'm not saying season 1 is bad, there are many good episodes that you listed so we don't agree. I think the critic of season 1 is too harsh.
@@mellonlord4616 Episode 14 had its moments but I still think it's one of the worst episodes of the series. Not a bad episode per se but a mediocre one on Avatar's standards. I don't think it added much to the themes of the show (like political ambiguity, power of friendship, horrors of war, long-term effects of child abuse, imperialism and colonialism, gender discrimination, corruption, oppression or growing up to be your own person) and I also don't think any theme of the show should be explicitly stated in a single episode. A theme is a story's soul which carries the whole opus. And I still think season 1 is really good. I just see it as inferior to season 2 and 3, which are amazing.

Finally..the main character arrives. Cabbage man
A worthy main character for sure.

10:54 the thing I love is he doesn't have to worry about laws or destruction of personal property. Anything Aang wants to do is cool here!
Bumi teleportation amazing.
Those jokes had Carmen's eyes rolling so fast they could drive a turbine
I just can't with cheesy jokes...and I say this as someone who tells the worst cheesy jokes ever! But, at least I know how bad they are! lol
oh Carmen... I'm definitely a Sokka, I laughed so hard with all those jokes, I find them funny as hell XD

I like your longer discussions at the end. The longer the better for me.
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback! :) Happy to know they are being enjoyed!
The poor man and his cabbages - it never ends
29:13 Yes, Im still there. I enjoy long discussions, but a lot of this wasnt even discussing the show, and thats not a complaint.
Calvin was so smiley 😂
Aw man, it's hard to find someone reacting to Pippinpaddleopsicopalus... Katara is so good at adopting stupid, out of left field names on the spot.
Bumi is pretty spry for a 112 year old man, isn't he?
29:24 Of course! lol _Love_ your post-episode conversations 👍🏼 PS ~ You guys are adorable 💕
love seeing this cute warm soft adorbs side of calvin with u ♥
Russian Cat Dolls are so cool.
