- This is the film we (T.L. bass telepictures and the KISS Rebreather team) have put together for the State Park. It is a short documentary on the teams work exploring the Roaring River spring.
"It wasn't an easy dive" said by Mike, means I shouldn't even look in the general direction of that place.
Mr. Mike, I have to tell you you are realistically at least in my opinion one of the greatest cave explorers in modern America, and I can’t thank you enough for all your work
That drone shot at 7:45 showing the altitude equivalent to their depth was genius. Fantastic film!
I have been fishing Roaring River since the late 70's and I always wanted to know more so thank you
I came from Dive Talk & the fact your channel isn't at a minimum of a million subs says a lot about the current state of our society. They should be using your content & others within your circle to educate our children in school about under water exploration bc y'all are the very definition of under water explorers! I mean, they're always talking about how much of our earth's oceans have yet to be explored, but here you are doing it! I'm in the nursing profession & a non diver & find it absolutely fascinating & highly educational. Thank y'all for what you're doing, keep up the amazing work! 👏
Thank you for your kind words
What a true adventure! Setting a depth record and truly inspiring work on the video. Thanks Mike and crew, brilliantly done.
Commentary from Mike! Really appreciate the extra time you guys put in to add the narration.
😂 No way would I have went down that hole! Your a beast Mike Young. If not for you guys. We would never have seen so many wonderful things on this Earth. ❤💯
I spent my childhood at this park. I remember how that spring always seemed otherworldly. Dark water has always given me a little anxiety anyway. It’s weird how I can simultaneously love a place and be totally spooked by it. Got to go back. 😅 excellent video.
Awesome! I always listen to the cave diving videos and they never show any footage. This was amazing to see. Kudos.
I find this so therapeutic to watch..Mr young you are the man.👌
I definitely need more of these
This was a great video! Very interesting!
never did i know that watching you cave diving make me dreaming that someday i will do it too. thank you for sharing this, Mike, sir. this is so wonderful and truly mesmerising. great job for you and the crew. Have a great explorations!

This has to be the most incredible cave discovery ever. Amazed I'm just hearing about it now with how much cave content I consume.
Amazing!!! What an honor to meet Mike Young and dive with his Sidewinder!! God keep you safe for many years to come!

Youre an inspiration Mike! Love from Norway!
Wonderfully done once again Mr. Mike Young and crew.
what a beautiful shot video great work mike & thank you I'm so happy you shared this with us ❤
Roaring River is breathtaking!
As a kid growing up in NE Oklahoma, we’d visit there occasionally. Seeing that cave and the huge trout, stuck with me into adulthood and was a catalyst for me getting my cave diving certification in 2011. I’ve never had the opportunity to dive there, but have many other Missouri springs. Love the video, thanks for sharing.
really cool how it just opens up like that in the abyss
Thanks for sharing your adventures Mike.
great video mike ! you inspire all of us.
Wow! That was one of your best videos yet! Very cool! So sad about Eric Hahn. 😔
Awesome 👌
Brilliant stuff mike and team !loved watching this you guys should be proud of what you've achieved. Onwards and downwards from here !
Hi Mike, im not a cave or a diver, but i saw you on Dive Talk on the video with Shane :( I just wanted to say you're an amazing smart diver. Hi from Canada 🇨🇦
Growing up in the area my father would take us to RR constantly. I would just walk to the edge of that spring and look down in awe. Thank you for showing me what I could only imagine in my head. Since Arkansas disallowed dry caving because of bats my thirst for caving doesn’t get satisfied as much as it used to. This makes me want to learn to dive, get certified and explore this amazing area on a whole different level. Have you done much diving in Beaver Lake? I’ve heard stories of decent cave systems in the old canyon. Thanks for the amazing content and stay safe!
I have spent a lot of time in beaver lake.the only cave I have found is down by war eagle.
@@mikeyoung8968 is that the system that connects directly to War Eagle Caverns? I’ve heard stories of a system that connects to Mystic Caverns I believe. But I think that one feeds into Table Rock. So much water around here. I know one of the show caves talks about their blind trout and how they have been tracked from the cave to a lake.
@@DontHateItsBased it is at a lower elevation and flows some water out. It gets to tight after about 300’ in. I don’t believe it is connected. If it was I believe War Eagles stream would flow down it instead
I used to survey and bounce pits with a buddy from VA who passed away here. Nicest guy you could ever meet.
Eric was an incredible guy. I wish we had more time with him.
Awesome video Mike!
You look sad there Mike maybe just tired. Thanks for all you do.
Yea just tired. Some of those days are very long!
i love the videos! im no diver, but this makes me want to buy a drone and check out some of the local springs and lakes around here, we call one the "barrel hole" thats pitch black about the size of a 55 gallon drum straight down into no where, rest of the entire lake is about 3ft deep, that lake feeds several other lakes and tributaries to the main river, might be a huge system there. theres also some other lakes around that are 700-800 ft in depth, that have active ice cave systems nearby, NO ONE i don't think has ever dove in those waters, super clear water, you can see bottom in 40-50ft in depth from a canoe near some of the springs we fish at. either way, thank you for all that you do, youre an inspiration.
awesome.
Last time I fished there, I fell in 3 times! Cold...
Awesome film! Thought the altitude comparison at 7:48 was great. Also, the shot at 8:45 where you disappear during decent was very cool. 472' is just wild to think about. Have you traveled beyond 472' since this was filmed?
No that is the extent of safe exploration with current equipment.
Great video as always. I appreciate the stuff you guys do. How was the permit process for this adventure? I've heard bureacracy varies in terms of pain from state to state and government to government.
It is very political. We have ask occasionally for 15 years. We where lucky that the park superintendent Joel Topham wanted us to do it and was instrumental in making it happen.
Wow 462+ feet. How many rest stops did you require on the way up? What is water temp down there?
Water temperature is same all the way down. We did about 3.5 hours of decompression stops.
Who would you recommend reaching out to in the Florida panhandle near Morrison springs for learning basic scuba diving certification?
I am not familiar with the shops in that area well enough to make a preference on one shop or the other. Most all shops are good for basic certification. Personally I would go talk/ interview the instructors and find one that fits your needs and personality,
I think we should leave it to the pros, Mike, Brian and Edd to extend that line to 700-800ft🤔🙏💪🏼👏🏼
To me, it’s interesting to think about the difference in the diving experience when you’re on a rebreather at great depth, and you have all these other considerations that don’t enter into “normal“ scuba diving. E.g., work of breathing, and the potential for over breathing, hypercapnia, etc. It seems like that would be a different way of existing underwater. It seems like you almost have to be in some kind of Zen state to keep everything within safe limits. Obviously, the margin for error or unexpected developments is small. Honestly, the phrase that comes to mind is “holy crap!“
The benefits of a rebreather far outweigh the complexity. Also after a few hundred hours on then all these things become second nature.
@@mikeyoung8968 As an open circuit diver, I look at video of CCR/sidemount, and it just looks like what scuba was always meant to be. Also- the only way I'd ever consider cave diving. I wish there were fewer barriers to entry, because it looks great! Thanks for the Roaring River video. 472'!
When you go that deep, do you feel the pressure pushing on your body?
No it feels the same at all depths.
You should hit up demolition ranch he has caves to explore
Sure does anyone have contact with them? I would love a new cave!!!
🤗🕊️🩵🕊️🤗
you sir are a true explorer with the sheer will off a 100 man great team work and discipline !!!
That's awesome
