It's been nice watching an old version of Ark. I first bought the game on Steam September 1st 2015 (version 206.0) and a while after joining the biggest tribe in Server 8; the snow biome came and broke half of the base! This video reminded me of how the original Center map had some more (since removed) tiny islands and other changes at the map border. When version 207 came out bringing rafts, we found ways to protect the raft from dino damage and explosives... build your raft's structures deep down into the ocean to tame things and all manner of craziness which is mostly fixed in the sequel. Co-ordinates 12, 41 in those green plains was our tribes wonderful open base spot before it got iced over; I lived right on 60.7, 25.7 where the swamp, beavers and redwood soon came next door. I remember farming the skylord cave to get scraps of chitin before beavers came out and all sorts of other things we did. The old water pipes, kibble and narcotic grind are less pleasant to remember; when two young kids joined the tribe after the snow catastrophe, I let them borrow the carno kibble to tame a low level wolf and it got eaten minutes later. Over time it was fun seeing how each player loved their own specific tames rather than just being managarmr or wyverns - our tribe leader loved spinos and bears, others liked argents, frogs and so on; one tamed dozens of monkeys and penguins and we'd have raft battles or fight in a colosseum with them.
Also the original rates and things before our leader ever mentioned the existance of tools like using a "taming calculator" such as Crumplecorn or Dododex; things have really come far since back then.

Day 1 of playing ARK on console was amazing. My friend and I managed to beat the server queue and found ourselves exploring the south, just outside the swamp. We were busy picking berries and trying to figure out our next move when, out of nowhere, someone on a ptera swooped down and snatched my friend. That unexpected moment turned into one of my favorite gaming memories ever

I started before the ice and redwood biomes , The map was drawn by a 3 year old with a pencil and no map markers making simply finding each other a total nightmare . Short jaunts from the base would result in people getting lost in the dark / wilderness .
I loved this. It was about Dinos vs you, the player, and you got stronger only over time. Stuff made alot of sense instead of the TEK and Breeding fiesta that Ark is now. The bow was a big deal, your first shitty Gun was aswell. Then at some point sometime, your tribe got a Rex. Well, tribes with Stone were fucked. And you didnt have the metal raiding BS without C4. Loved it. Also, every Dino had such a Purpose it feels. People really wanted to tame everything because it was so useful. Trike was your first go to dinosaur, youd get a stego for even more berries and so on.
I miss the old Ark honestly, or just the memories. Back when I was five-six, I saw a video on Ark. I really wanted to play it, but I didn't remember the name. I also couldn't find the original video. About a year/few months later (I don't exactly remember XD), one of my father's friends recommended Ark to him and said to try it out. We went to some place and picked up a used X-box 1. After bringing it home and installing Ark, I was so happy when I realized it was the same game. I'm 15 now, and my father and I have been playing it ever since. (My father takes long breaks from time to time.) I started playing a few months before SE came out, in 2015 I believe, early access. My father and I got so addicted to it to the point my mother started to get frustrated because we weren't helping out with household chores. He doesn't play it much anymore which I understand. I remember raging because I couldn't remember how to open my storage box XD. I want to share so many memories, but this is just a UA-cam comment. Thank you so much for bringing all the memories back, Man! I've watched a few of your videos and they're great! Keep up the good work!

Hello Baron, I just wanted to tell you that i discovered your channel recently and i love your content, i hope you will get more subs with the time😊
(Sorry if my english is bad, im from France)
your english is perfect man❤️, thanks a bunch
@baronwuztaken Thank you ! Just a question: Will you do some primal fear in the future ?
@@Enderkiller_295 maybe
Hey man, just wanted to say that you make amazing content🔥
I never watch PVE/modded ark and only like PVP focus videos but man you make it so entertaining to watch! I'm glad I clicked on you video today, Keep up the good work!
Also this video brings back so many memories man god damn 🤣
thanks a lot man
finally away from the brain rot
😂😂
I don't even know how I found this dude but now I watch him nearly every day and I love him❤
I remember playing this game as a Dino Dayz game. Good times...
I love this video, I love your narrating
Another goated video. The idea of it is very nice.
And oh Boy how much i love this editing.
haha glad to hear man ❤️
The memories ! blast from the past, absolute BEST ark youtuber !
HELL YEAH ❤️❤️
the crafting sound and engrem sound is so much better than the nwe one. i liked it way more at that time
i like the headshot/hit sound
Omg the shear amount of nostalgia entering my body rn is such a good feeling, thank you man for making this vid u absolute legend
Real Ogs remember finding their stuff by holding a torch just before u die
wtf THATS ACTUALLY TRUE, but if u get eaten gg
@@baronwuztaken can throw it on the floor too
@@adampadgett242 ah, makes sense, thats actually genius
wow thats crazy how nostalgic, i remember using a small piece of tape to make a x on my monitor to create a cross hair XD
dude thats actually genius 😂
The memories they always come back once or twice
It being 7 year's
i swear man... it was nostalgic AF
@@baronwuztaken Yeah
Can I get a shoutout@@baronwuztaken
Trike was your first go to dinosaur, youd get a stego for even more berries and so on.
beautiful editing and awesome entertainment, new subscriber bro keep the good work
This man cooked without learning the cooking pot engram
Keep up the good work!
thank you for sharing this experience man ❤️ if you wish you can replay this game (if you're on pc), join my discord and go to #resources
@@baronwuztaken No problem, I'll join your discord! Also, congratulations on 20k!! You deserved it man!
when the menu still had animations :(
sometimes i miss the old ark, back when i had no idea what i was doing getting killed by raptors every six seconds
😂 exactly.. thats why I made this video... to share with you guys the nostalgia
Ive never seen 2016 ark before thanks for showing me dude. I appreciate that😊
That sound brought joy to me but also still haunts every time I craft arrows
😂arrows are crafted stupidly fast Jesus
@@baronwuztaken bro have you forgotten to enable wandering for breeding your dinos?
Wild how our perception of the game has changed since then. There are so many quality of life features we take for granted, and so many simple pleasures that are lost to time
I agree, literally being able to use things in inventory by pressing E as opposed to spamming "remote use item" is such a good change
I still remember as if it was yesterday 🥹
Can't fkin remember the last time i laughed so hard at puns and edits of some random youtube suggested video
Damn that’s hard but ngl it’s kinda like ark mobile in some points like the sound effects and half of the dinos didn’t exist but ark mobile i think has tek and redwoods but that made it more easier then this version that ur playing ..good job playing this ❤ (:
That what I thought
Thanks for this dude! I can't believe I get to see some dinos before their tlc lol
no worries man
We literally used to use damage loaded scorpions carried by argies to tame quetzals and yes sometimes they’d just die and other times they’d just despawn
AMAZING VID AS ALWAYS BARON, ur editing style keeps impressing me and ur channel growing so fast man .im so glad to u see u reach this level. keep up the good work
absolutely maaan❤️, thank you so much
2:12 i play mobile Ark, that is way too exp, in my game i get like, 0.33 exp points for every stone
💀wtf
How nostalgic. I played the game on its first day on console, which was beyond buggy. This brought back my memories, happy ones with beach raptors 😂
My childhood
i played og ark and fun fact, as a solo i made a tactic with parachutes and argy, get close to the quetz, jump off with parachute, shoot him once or twice , call argy and repeat , it takes around 2 hours for high level
if only we could go back to when there was no swamps. i build my first base near the end of the river which is now the eastern swamp area.
we most probably CAN however you have to search deeper, I did find a 2015 ver but settled with a 2016 ver with far far more content
i started playing ark in 2020. Man i remember when lost island came out. I might not be an og, but i enjoy the game how it is rn in my opinion.
3:50 If you are on controller you still have to split it one by one because there is no split all on xbox or playstation.
its so annoying
this is how i remember the game after playing it for a few hours back then
You're my favourite ark youtube
❤️
The good nostalgia
5:50 ooOooo 😂
😂😂
just started watching now, cant wait for this banger to be finished!
Hope u enjoy it maan ❤️
big nostalgia
I'm 40 seconds in. You just brought back a feeling of happiness and nostalgia I didn't know was still in me.
ARK was such a good game back then and me, my friends and the people on my stream had such a good time.
It's incredible how the original Rex is so superior... Well, the whole game was superior, to be honest.
fr, back when a giga made you instantly alpha tribe
Genuinely my FAVOURITE ark youtuber ive seen, another dinosaur game that's actually really good and could make good content is path of titans, you play as the dinosaurs and kill other people
never heard of it, i played primal carnage back in 2015 tho if u know that game 😂
@@baronwuztaken my friend told me about it, was thinking of maybe getting it aswell
