Human animals have too much energy expenditure on non-essentials to their sustained existence. Humans, egocentric to the extent that they consider their existence superior to other sources of energy, whilst systematically wasting so much of it. This comment for instance.

Thank you, Mr. Fallon! For a former-military man, you make the most sense.

"...we have a soul, and a spirit, and we have reason and if we use these things, we ought to be able to do better..." - Well, history has shown otherwise. We have not "done better" - oh, yes, in some strata of the "developed world" there have been material improvements, though at the expense of further suffering in the "third world" (how else would we have our cheap goods, our affordable electronic gadgets, our electric cars?). What we call "reason" is really only a capacity to rationalize, to falsely justify the violent subjugation of some over others. And we call that subjugation "order." We can point to no evidence of metaphysical necessity for human beings to be the center of the universe. This is just the same old, tired hubris, so we (the so-called "developed world") can continue to plunder the rest of the world, and wrecking the earth itself until there will be no earth left to wreck. And they call this "progress."

It’s amazing to me how these so called thinkers of our time conjecture to their graves with all these shenanigans and refuse to entertain the possibility that maybe we have been put here by something supreme.

How hard is it to see that we are actually just animals though?

@@pasthuman Plenty do entertain the notion that there is a possibility of a creator. Few entertain the notion that a creator would design humans to be superior to other animals.
What is far more common is the refusal to entertain the notion that perhaps we are simply animals, no greater or lesser than any other animal in its place in nature, and that we through our hubris have distorted our reality to a point of unnecessary self-destructive potential.
