    I’m in love with my DW specialist. I didn’t understand the 1911 draw until I held a Dan Wesson

      After I’d got my 6” trp and 4” empccc I walked in buds and picked up the ss 10mm specialist and it never left my hand and resides in a ttgunleather iwb with nuclear 135noslers..i handload almost every day and hunt with longslide 1911 so I have dialed real 10mm power loads in that I wouldn’t personally shoot in plastic guns…I had to fire 1 to run some ol dogs off comin near my little jack Russel’s 1 handed and liked to lost it….I’d forgotten I put the mean ones in mag…lol

    I have five Dan Wesson pistols two staccato pistols and one Wilson combat and I will tell you the Staccato‘s are my favorite but the Dan Wesson is the best bang for the buck by far my TCP is exactly like yours every bit as smooth as a $3000 handgun and I paid $1580 for it

    Thanks for the video! I purchased the SA Emissary in a 9mm... and then came across the DW TCP chambered in a .45. After I held it at the shop, I fell in love with it. I'd truly like to get my hands on the 9mm version.... been hunting around to see if anyone carries it.

    GREAT REVIEW! Does the pistol use commander length (4.25") recoil springs... and what is the spring weight?

    • @EchoDelta2A
      @EchoDelta2A  7 місяців тому

      I believe it's a 17lbs spring, but can't really tell for sure.

    This or specialist commander? Im looking for 45 acp 1911 for AIWB.

    • @EchoDelta2A
      @EchoDelta2A  3 місяці тому

      Really comes down to weight and feel. If you want the lighter weight for EDC, the aluminum frame of the TCP helps, as does the carry bevel on the slide. If you want the traditional, all steel, and less snappy recoil, the Specialist will shoot a little nicer.

    Did you change the front sight? If so what brand and cut did you go with? I've heard DW sights are proprietary. I would like a FO Dawson Precision but don't know if ant fit.

    • @EchoDelta2A
      @EchoDelta2A  9 місяців тому

      I didn't, and I can tell you with certainty the Dawson's don't fit. That said, DW does offer a few sight options on their site, but be cautious when you attempt to remove the front sight. It's a bitch to take off.

  • @lylesmith5079

    I think that you may have made a mistake on the weight. You said 3 pounds that's 48oz. Heavier that a steel framed Government model.

    How is this gun holding up?

    • @EchoDelta2A
      @EchoDelta2A  5 місяців тому

      To be honest, it doesn't see a lot of action and I baby all my guns. Always clean my pistols immediately after the range, even if only firing a few rounds. So, I can't speak to any type of wear and tear. But it still fires as nice today as it did day one and still looks like new. Roughly 400-500 rounds later. Finish has held up as have the tolerances. Hope this helps.

    • @EchoDelta2A
      @EchoDelta2A  Рік тому +1

      Without a doubt, owb. I'm a big boy, so I'm kind of limited on any iwb options anyway. That said, it's small enough to get away with owb, and a helluva lot more comfortable too.

    • @EchoDelta2A
      @EchoDelta2A  Рік тому

      The Southern Trapper custom. They have long lead times but worth it. If you're in a hurry, I'm convinced that the Craft holsters built for any railed 4.25" DW would work as well. You may need to work the gun into the leather for a day or two, but should be a nice fit thereafter

    I've read many of the complaints on the finish and I can tell you that it is mostly ignorance as to how to care for it. It works much like the finish on many of my Combat Knives and dlc watches that I own an wear. When they clean the gun with a degreaser or solvent, it removes the oil both on and in the finish. It turns a lighter shade of grey simply due to the oils being removed. A simple re-oiling brings it back to original color again. I am stymied that some have actually sent the guns back at quite an expense where nothing more than a thick oil left on for a few minutes takes care of the issue immediately.
    On the Combat Knives I made before retiring, I used Rig Grease for shipping. It seems to stay in the metal more doggedly where many gun oils and other over the counter oils are made to vapor off their carrier making the finish look dry.

      Great info! Yeah, I was baffled as well. I always rub a thin coat of oil all over every pistol I own after cleaning, just to protect whatever finish it has. I thought it was a common practice lol. Guess not.
