Crazy car. No service plan, more expensive than a (bigger, more powerful and using less fuel) Baleno, no electric mirrors, no brake assist, wind up windows in the rear, no split folding rear seat, no rear park sensor ('optional extra'), no cruise control ('optional extra'). It's like going back 15 years. Oh, hang on, it is.
First vid of yours I've seen. Nice review. Seeing the Cape Town scenery is also a bonus. I'm originally from Sea Point but been living in the US since 1996.
Juliet, I’m glad you got to test drive the new Polo Vivo. I’m driving the outgoing model in Trendline guise with almost 15 000 km on the clock now and I’m considering the latest 1.6 Life (auto). The dealer doesn’t have one to test drive but I don’t necessarily care ‘cause I know to expect good driving dynamics and build quality. Also I live in PE, and this car is built nearby in Uitenhage where it keeps hundreds, if not thousands, employed and our businesses busy. GUYS! SUPPORT LOCAL! Oh, also, they’ve got great deals on these if you drive less than 20 000 km a year. You could pay as little as R 4,000 p/m.
I used to be a fan. I had two polo's consecutively. But its too samey now for me to consider another one. At that price, its not really bang for buck, is it?
The Vivo competes against the Baleno, not the Swift, when you look at their respective pricing. The top of the range Swift is ~R260k while the entry level Baleno starts at that price. The Baleno GLX is ~R315k and you get a lot more features in it than the Vivo Life. I've driven my friend's pre-facelift Vivo and I'd rather be in a GLX Baleno.
Deal breaker for me is the lack of tow hook, no rear split seat back, no boot light and the flat seats. Exterior looks great in any colour but white and silver. I also need a towbar which is not an option anymore.
What pisses me off is that there is nothing new about this car. In fact, pretty much everything comes from the original polo that was released back in 2010. add to that all the budget bits like the tail lights, no centre armrest, crappu indicators on the sides rather than the side mirrors etc. Its not even a tsi engine. VW dcamming people left right and centre. I had a 1.2 TSI highline DSG ba k in 2014. Bought it brand new for R267k. That was a great car. This is just overpriced garbage. No offence to your review though. That was great. I just think that car manuarcturers are charging too much but simply reusing components from like a decade ago. How much R&D went into this car? Theyve literally just pulled parts together from the oarts bin and have the nerve to call it new.
Oooh that is tricky!!!! Have you driven both yet? I have driven both, but not enough yet to review the Swift. But it is such great value for money. A fab car!!!!
If I said I'm head of the board at Volkswagen and to bring city life we need atleast 1million reserved ... do tall think earth will give a car we know will cost 100k a chance
At this point, the polo is catfishing people. All cosmetic changes but when you take a look deep down, you really feel like running into a wall after discovering the deception. This thing should be put to rest already, it's that old.
Just clicking because I saw Juliet, otherwise I have not business looking at VW overrated cars. But my lady here overhyped the vehicle for those who love VW but to be honest I don't why I would buy this car.
Juliet you try to compare this old car to some cars that are just not its competitors! You can not compare the Grand i10 or the Picanto to this, the Hyundai and Kia are much smaller, try the Citroen C3 or the Swift or the Mahindra XUV3XO, that is modern cars that and exactly the same size and cheaper to buy and run than this old overpriced Volksie!
Regardless of how you look at it,this is a disappointing product from VW. I don't even wanna touch on those minor cosmetics😒 , some will say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." That doesn't work here as there are no improvements, both on the engines and the standard futures. Rear windows for such a high asking price😶🌫️, only VW fan boys will buy this thing. How can you buy this over a Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 Renault Cleo? .....
The i20 only has Stability Control in the turbo versions, dealbreaker for me. Clio is unreliable and you'll wait for parts. I take your argument about the Baleno, that's the only alternative I'd consider over this.
😂 looks like they replaced the R8000 with a R2000 unit and then people say how did they keep the price the same 😂 It was way overpriced 5 years ago, they have enough room to play

At least they give you a radio😂
They are really taking consumers for a joke with that price and the cheap quality of the interior etc. They know people will buy this car regardless.
15 yrs ago stuff was far more reliable nothing wrong with that the good old base model car is whats needed back
@@robintyson591 at least there's a new bumper🤡
yup mad. And to think its made here in our backyard yet still so expensive.
R320k is beyond diabolical for this matchbox
VW need to pay their execs and workers top dollar, that's why brands like Haval, Chery and Suzuki are starting to nibble away at their market share.
Got out of a Starlet in the Vivo. Much more stable.....totally agree with Juliet.
Great review. Always enjoy your videos. Thx. The windy windows at the back and 2 airbags is so funny 😂in 2024
It's criminal to offer such barebones spec for more than R300k.

Awesome review. Can't wait for you review on the Swift, very excited.
Used to be a fan but am no longer a brand loyalty person I'd opt for a better deal no matter the brand Mahindra 3XO entry level will do just fine
It's hard to see why...it's the "same" car
That intro lol, so 80's synth :) Rock on Jules.
I used to be a fan. I had two polo's consecutively. But its too samey now for me to consider another one. At that price, its not really bang for buck, is it?
That insurance quote is an indicator that this cheap car is a high risk for theft / highjacking 😅
One of my moms friends also bought this one already, it hasn't been out for so long 🤣
In the UK, this is the VW Polo from 2009 to 2017. Here you got a higher price but more equipment
They had the same Polo back then, the Vivo is always the previous model though
I love your content and car review. thank you.

Apart from budget it also comes down to your preference on your safety👀
I feel like “Vivo Life” is quite redundant

Love your videos. Please also try POV. We would like to see more views on the road
The sales of this car must say something 🆒😎🤟🏻
😂 it says the something alright, SA buyers looking at this and thinking it's a good deal, should not be allowed to vote 😂
VW is just taking chances, how do they justify that price?
Suzuki Baleno scored a 0 star crash safety rating in 2021. The Swift as well. Keep that in mind.
How does VW keep getting away with ripping people off. R320k for a matchbox is insane 😂
Please review the Jetour dashing

Please, i need a review of the Suzuki Swift GL+ I am in between the Polo Vivo Life and the Suzuki Swift GL+ 😊
Oooh that is tricky!!!! Have you driven both yet? I have driven both, but not enough yet to review the Swift. But it is such great value for money. A fab car!!!!
Well. VW and other local manufacturers are threatening to close up shop…. So might not be local for long..
Please can you do a review of the new Mahindra 3XO?
Please review Jetour
Buy this one at your own risk, especially in JHB AND DBN

Love these cars ❤, nice review 👍
No matter how little it changed, this car is something I would buy in a heartbeat ❤💯🤞🏽
VW thinks we don't see that they trying to do what Toyota does in land cruiser Bakkie 😅
😂
😂😂
She sounds and acts like my mom’s coworker lol
Ok il get a really good older one looks the same and just put this bumper on and the rear Vivo badge😅 dont get mad thats what VW did.
Lol... I'm fine thanks with the Vivo, where's the Baleno?
Suzuki Swift has 6 airbags for less money 😊
But it’s Indian built…
I hired this car. It was soo disappointing. Felt like a 1.0 litre car on hills😢
