Agreed but a lot of lesser favoured drivers are thought to get massive bonuses per point they score so it can somewhat equal out. Someone like max prob gets almost no bonus and just a flat massive fee
Besides the drivers, have you done a video about the money of F1? Who's making all the money from TV and sponsors: the teams, the F1 company, the FIA, etc? Do all teams run at a profit, or they stop operating? How much is it to start a new team and how does F1 control this?
It's not about what you deserve, it's about what you get. Everyone always thinks they deserve more. It's a testament of a shitty manager that Ferrari was able to sign him cheap.
I once read in an article that F1 drivers have to pay a certain amount to the FIA to maintain their super license. The amount is based on the number of points they score in a season.
It seems like the minimum has increased significantly in recent years while the top earners have been similar since the days of Schumacher (Michael, not Mick, obviously).
Heard on the Dutch TV that Max is very gracious towards his family. Including his Dad Jos who has invested the most in his career, not only money, a lot of time too. His sister and mother live a comfortable life too, payed by Max.
I think Honda probably pays his salary thru tauri and is paid more on the side to avoid cost cap infringement. Same with stroll . Who proabbaly gets a daddy allowance on the side which dosent count
Watching this only reinforces my belief that driver salaries (and top manager salaries) should be part of the cost cap. Paying a top driver a ton of money offers a competitive advantage.
Like with any pro athlete, it's not only how much you make but how long you'll make it. If your career is only 2, 5, 10 or even 20 years, that might have to cover your debts from early days, supporting your parents/wives/friends, bad investments, and the rest of your life. If you have zero skills to do any other job because you've been driving since you were a kid and you never got an education, you might find the money doesn't go so far.
The fact de vries was grtting doible the pay of yuki. Yukis been at alpha for 3 years and is now their no 1 driver, someone give him a pay rise. Yuki could lose all his money for the year with the new fine implemented in f1
Think how much of an increase it is from not driving at all or going to work at Wal-Mart, because when they can't get an F1 contract any more that's zero money.
Don't forget the expense of the Monaco apartment for tax residency. So are contracts in dollars or Euros, and do they get paid weekly or monthly like a regular job? Do they have to deal with taxes in every country they race in or just where they're resident?
Interesting Irish proverb t shirt , “ Promise is debt”, I assume that was topical attire choice, like when hiring a driver. Hiring a driver is like hiring an American Football Quarterback, you cant win without a good one, and millions riding on success.
Crazy to think within a decade most managers gonna go out of business as AI agents evolve to the point of being able to do all they do and more, and for cheaper.
Max makes way more than that, with his new contract his salary has increased to 55 million + bonuses (not even taking into account sponsors and merch sales)
IMO Vertappen's salary is not correct as after his 2021 WDC he re-signed a new contract with two stages of payment. 3 yrs at around $24M and the last 3 yrs at $48M. But all the midia says $55M flat.
You seem to have the incorrect information. In 2021 and 2022 Max was payed 40 million (excluding bonuses) which with his contract extension was increased to 55 million starting in 2023 until 2028 (excluding bonuses).
Max is the reigning world champion and currently the best driver on the grid, why wouldn’t he be payed more than someone who hasn’t won a race in two years?
In 2022 Max’s salary way 40 million, it now has increased to 55 (both plus bonuses). Last year Lewis’ salary was 55 million which has been reduced to 35 for this season (he typically only signs for 1-2 seasons at the time)
False. Lewis’ salary in 2023 is 35 million, and I highly doubt that Mercedes would increase his salary to nearly 60 million for next year when he hasn’t won a race in nearly 2 years. Last year Max’s salary was 40 million but with his new contract has increased to 55 million (excluding bonuses) while last year Lewis’ salary was 55 million including bonuses
I find it funny that Lance has a salary knowing that his dad owns the team. It is like hey this is your allowance.
Tax deduction go brr
If we assume he's being paid in the UK, then its only the first 12.5k that is not taxed. So a pretty bad scheme to avoid taxes.@@YoyoZee
At the very least I expect FIA requires a compensation contract given the budget cap, etc.

Carlos Sainz salary vs Charles is a robbery of a talent. He deserves just as much as Charles
It's not about what you deserve, it's about what you get. Everyone always thinks they deserve more. It's a testament of a shitty manager that Ferrari was able to sign him cheap.
I find it difficult to imagine that Carlos would be happy as 'No no 1 driver in Ferrari' to accept such a disparity in pay to Charles's 24m vs. 12m.
I once read in an article that F1 drivers have to pay a certain amount to the FIA to maintain their super license. The amount is based on the number of points they score in a season.
That is 100% correct
Verstappen paid nearly 1m Euros for 2023. Perhaps more for next season.
Fernando for 5 is a bargin 😏
We dont know if those numbers are true
Why Leclerc makes double what Sainz does makes no sense. He isn’t 2x better.
It seems like the minimum has increased significantly in recent years while the top earners have been similar since the days of Schumacher (Michael, not Mick, obviously).
Alonso 5mil 😮 my foot , if Aston martin pitch that amount to him he would say to F off

How much is Kym Illman, an F1 photographer paid?
Zero. He is a freelancer. He sells his pictures to newspapers, magazines and probably some stock photo repositories...
