Hey, I want to ask, if I didn't meet the necessary requirements with my grade 12 results but I did good in my first year courses, would I be able to transfer successfully or will I have a greater chance at transfering
Hi KayDee a lot of factors come into play here. Firstly, remember when you apply for a transfer your application starts out as if you’re applying straight from high school. This means your matric results are considered. However, oftentime applications do ask what you did between your application time and matric and may also give you a chance to upload your transcript. This may help boost your application especially if you did well. BUT you do need to remember that different learning institutions have different programs even for the same degree streams SO it will also depend on whether the university you want to go to recognises the program structure of the other university. Sometimes you might be accepted but not credited which means you may need to do 1st year again.
That means you’re applying for a new academic path altogether. You may still need to submit all your academic records up until the time of application and they might not credit you for the courses you’ve done especially if they are in completely different fields. So you can apply it’s quite similar to doing a first application fresh after high school, the only difference is you have more information in your academic record.
Hi❤ , i studied 1st year at UNISA , Communication Science and would like to apply for a different course at Stellenbosch university. Should i submit my uinsa transcript or just my matric results
Hi Jabulile this depends on the requirements of the accounting science degree you want to do at UP. Requirements of various programs and what they recognize are not the same across the board so the best thing to do is to call the faculty and enquire from them specifically.
Hi Andiswa, so ‘credits’ refers to the courses/modules you’ve already completed in your current institution. So oftentimes when people transfer they want to know if the new institution will acknowledge those and include them as part of the new degree/qualification. To calculate them, you need to look at your transcript from your current institution- it will show you the courses/modules you’ve completed. Then you need to assess the new institution’s curriculum specifically the program you want to do then check if the modules you’ve done in the current institution are relevant in the qualification you want from the new institution and if they are then you compare the topics, quality and points. Please note that you may not have all the info to do an accurate comparison as mentioned in the video so this will just give you an idea. The accurate credit transfer process will be done by the new institution staff before you register.✨

Hi Amani, I would encourage you to apply. Both your matric and your UNISA courses will be considered. You stand a better chance that when you just had your matric. As for whether you’ll be credited for those, it will depend on how similar the modules are between the two institutions.

Hi Mmatema if you’re transferring from one faculty to the other within the same university then it’s best you speak to the staff in your faculty as well as the staff of the faculty you want to transfer to. Hi London2011 I hope you’re well. So your Diploma may help you get into university since it’s the next step on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). It may improve your chances of getting into a degree program. However, your degree duration will not be cut short as a result of being credited for diploma hours. The two belong to different NQF levels.

Hi Emlin normally applications will normally ask exactly the information they want. Even if you did other things after high school they will most likely ask you to supply your marks for all the things you did post school as well. If you have any issues there’s normally a help line/email you can use for the specific institution where you can clarify exactly what they want. All the best!

Hi Thobile apply for the new university as per normal using all results you have from matric till now. once you’re accepted into the university, as elaborated in the video, that’s when the transfer of credits will happen. So the faculty at the new university will let you know what information they need from you. It’s best to call the faculty you want to join and find out whether credit transfer from your current program is possible as you may only know this when you’re in the new university.
hi ! i was wondering how UCT transfers credits from UP? I have tried to find it on the UCT site but cannot see anything for UP, especially in medicine. Should i also focus on the modules done, along with the credits earned, if I want to apply to UCT ?
Hi Nokwanda, you may need to contact one of the UCT med campus staff to understand this. As I mentioned in the video how they transfer credits differs from course to course and university to university. It all depends on how the university you’re going to recognises the modules/courses done in the university you’re coming from - relative to theirs.
Hi 😊 I want to transfer from UNISA to UP. I'm currently studying higher certificate in law so I don't know if I should start my LLB here at Unisa then transfer second year or will I be permitted to use my higher certificate to apply for LLB at UP? A response will be appreciated 🌻
Hi Reatlegile this depends highly on your current modules/courses and how similar they are to the ones done by first years in the university you want to go to. The other factor is how the university you want to go to converts the credits of the university you’re - I elaborate on this in the video. The best thing to do is to contact the university you want to go to (the relevant faculty) and ask them.
Hello Thank you for this video soo much I am currently studying medicine in Nigeria. Can I transfer credits to a medical school in SA and continue? I would love to contact you directly. Maybe schedule a zoom chat
Hi Chukwuma, it would depend on the institution you would like to go to and whether they recognize the modules you’ve done in your current institution. The best thing is to call the institution you would like to go to and find out more information from them.
Hi Koena you can apply at the new institution and upon acceptance move to the new institution. You will have to drop out of the institution you’re currently in when you move to the new one. It may be a good idea to attend the one that accepted you for now until the one you would like to go to actually accepts you.
So what if you failed on your first year, now you want to apply and start afresh at a new institution using Grade 12 only, without disclosing your previous university record. Is that possible?
Hey sis, is LLB at ufs equivalent to LLB at UJ? I would like to transfer from Ufs to Uj for my 3rd year going onwards? I am on the extended programme at ufs which is 5yrs and I'm on my second year now. Your response would be highly appreciated
Hi Ketshepile, you would have to check the programs from both universities and the courses/modules that are done under each one. It’s also worth comparing how both universities award credits because often times a 24 credit course in one university is not equivalent to a 24 credit course in another university.
If I may ask, do they consider your Matric final results? Is one obliged to meet their minimum requirements (Matric), what if one already has their first qualification (Eg Diploma In Accounting) and want to do Bcom Accounting (Maybe at UCT ), is there a possibility to be accepted?
Hi Sisa, if you’re applying for an undergraduate qualification they will consider your matric results as that’s part of the entrance criteria for that program and you would be filling in the same application form as everyone who wants to do the program. If you would like to find out if they will make a concession due to a previous qualification achieved you’d have to call the relevant faculty staff and discuss your case. All the best!
Enquire from the institution you want to go to. They will assess the program you did and how similar it is to the one you want to do and they will advise. Unfortunately it’s not a question that has a generic response.
Hy dear I want to ask something regarding transferring...let's say in 2020 u are accepted at unisa to study for a higher certificate and u want to transfer so when applying in 2020 should u select that u are a student in a different university
Hi Lethabo, if the question is asked in the application then you should indicate that you are a student elsewhere. This may also allow you to share your latest transcript with them.
Hey , I'm currently studying at UFS doing Bachelor of Science and I want to do Public Administration at DUT . I just wanna know the process and what is the process of transferring NSFAS funding, if I get accepted.
Hi Mhlengi so after acceptance, your new institution needs to send NSFAS your registration details. NSFAS will then re-evaluate whether you still qualify based on their other rules ie you passed your previous modules etc and then accept/reject based on that. This process will not start until you are fully registered in the new institution. Also note that the N+1 rule will still apply and your UFS years will be counted as part of the total.
Hey am currently doing electrical engineering at VUT but I feel like the course and university is not for me, will it be possible for me to transfer to a University and do Education
Hi so lets say if you failed Bsc engineering at wits and want to transfer to uj but it has b eng, is it ok if we even indicate that we did not study in a tertiary institiution before, or is it ok to include since a university like uj has b tech instead of bsc in eng? also dont want to transfer credits just want to start from like first year
Hi Ibrahim, you would need to apply at UJ from scratch as per normal application. They might ask you what you did between you completing matric and now If they do you will add the information about WITS. They will likely make the decision based on matric results especially if you’re not looking to transfer but to start from scratch.
Hi Lindokuhle it depends on the criteria of the degree as per the institutions and what you’ve already done. I don’t think it would be a transfer considering the difference between a diploma and a degree but you MIGHT be credited for some of the exposure you got… MIGHT. Enquire with your institution of choice as different institutions may handle this differently.

If you qualify for the program you want to do in UoZ you can apply. Enquire with the faculty you want to go to if they will transfer your credits as well or if they need you to start from year 1.
You can if you qualify for the program you want to do in the public one. Although the chances of getting your credits transferred might be slimmer. Reach out to the faculty you want to transfer to and find out.
how do we inform our current university about transferring? I'm currently a unisa student and how will a change in universities change my nsfas funding? will I have to reapply with nsfas?

If I finish my degree with extra funds in my school account, and want to do postgrad at another institution. Will those funds be movable to that institution?
The university should refund you your money unless if you were on a bursary and the bursary wants it back. So if they refund the money you can just pay the other university
Hi Thobile you would have to ensure you meet the criteria for the program you’re applying to and apply as per normal university applications. should you require the details of exemption this is usually a process that takes place once you’re already accepted into the program at university. The faculty staff will guide you on the requirements of the exemption application.
Hello I received my matric results on Friday and well I didn't get accepted into UCT but I did for my other 2 backup options. Now I'm not satisfied , so I'm considering doing 10x better and working harder this year, so that I can get exceptional credits then transfer to uct in my 2nd year. Will this be possible to do?
Hi Bohato, as stated in the video, this depends highly on your results in the new institution as well as how similar the programs in the two institutions (the one you go to and the one you want to transfer to) are to each other. All the best!
Your spot is not guaranteed until you’re officially accepted. Remember that some people who meet the requirements are sometimes rejected due to the capacity being reached. So you cannot assume that just because you qualify that they will definitely accept you. This is why it is important to apply to a couple of institutions and not just one.
Hi there …. I got accepted at UNISA for diploma but l want to do it with tut campus at Pretoria. The only thing l am scared of losing is the NSFAS bursary
Hi Zwelithemba you need to apply for teaching at NUW as per the normal application once you’re averaged you can begin the credit transfer process. Please note that because the programs are different there may not be that many overlapping modules and thus not a lot of credits transferred. The best thing to do is to call the NUW teaching faculty and find out how many credits you would be able to transfer based on your current program.
Hi Silindokuhle one of the requirements for a transfer is that you spend at least 2 years at the new institution before the end of your degree so that you can graduate at the new institution. So it depends on how long the program is and also how much correlation there is to the two programs in the different universities. If there’s no correlation and you have to redo some modules then it may take longer.
Hi. If I failed my 1st year and want to change universities to start a different undergraduate course. What are the chances I might be taken? *I've applied at that institution last year I got accepted but I didn't go there*
Hi Kutlwano, when you apply again it will be like a new application. So your matric marks will be considered. Some institutions do ask what you have done since you finished school but the weight of this depends on whether what you did was relevant to what you’re applying for and generally whether your matric marks qualify you for what you’re applying for. Keep in mind that different institutions may handle this differently so enquire with your institution of interest.
Hi Kutlwano, if they accepted you before it means you grade 12 marks meet the criteria of what you applied for. I am not sure how much they consider what you studied as they might ask for those marks. Perhaps they’ll consider it if it’s related to the course you want to do. I’d encourage you to apply nonetheless.
So I wanna take a transfer from ul to ukzn and I'm doing Bachelor of agricultural economics and now I'm on my second year my duration time is 4yrs would it be possible???
Hi Sphumelele you would need to ask the faculty of the university you want to go to. They can answer and let you know if you can continue based on similarities of the programs and credit calculations. I elaborate on this in the video. Please contact them so they can guide you.
You can transfer to any institution if you meet the requirements of that institution and program you want to do. The question of whether your credits will be transferred is dependent on the faculty you’re going to and how similar the program is with the one you did. So at worst you’ll just have to start the program from year 1.

So the faculty at the new university will let you know what information they need from you. It’s best to call the faculty you want to join and find out whether credit transfer from your current program is possible as you may only know this when you’re in the new university.
@@IKNOWYOUKNOW2 alright thank you
hi ! i was wondering how UCT transfers credits from UP? I have tried to find it on the UCT site but cannot see anything for UP, especially in medicine. Should i also focus on the modules done, along with the credits earned, if I want to apply to UCT ?
Hi Nokwanda, you may need to contact one of the UCT med campus staff to understand this. As I mentioned in the video how they transfer credits differs from course to course and university to university. It all depends on how the university you’re going to recognises the modules/courses done in the university you’re coming from - relative to theirs.
Hi 😊
I want to transfer from UNISA to UP. I'm currently studying higher certificate in law so I don't know if I should start my LLB here at Unisa then transfer second year or will I be permitted to use my higher certificate to apply for LLB at UP? A response will be appreciated 🌻
Hey were you able to get a transfer??
hi did you manage to get more info on that? coz i'm also a UNISA student doing my 1st year in LLB wanting to transfer to UP next year
@@buhlemalupi364 hey did you get the information?
Hi, I am in first year, doing an LLB programme. Would it be possible for me to transfer to another university for second year BA Law?
Hi Reatlegile this depends highly on your current modules/courses and how similar they are to the ones done by first years in the university you want to go to. The other factor is how the university you want to go to converts the credits of the university you’re - I elaborate on this in the video. The best thing to do is to contact the university you want to go to (the relevant faculty) and ask them.
Hey! I am doing a 3 year degree and I am hoping to transfer to UNISA, does the 2 year rule to graduate count for UNISA?
Hello
Thank you for this video soo much
I am currently studying medicine in Nigeria. Can I transfer credits to a medical school in SA and continue?
I would love to contact you directly. Maybe schedule a zoom chat
Hi Chukwuma, it would depend on the institution you would like to go to and whether they recognize the modules you’ve done in your current institution. The best thing is to call the institution you would like to go to and find out more information from them.
what about someone who want to start afresh in another institution but recently registered with another institution?
Hi Koena you can apply at the new institution and upon acceptance move to the new institution. You will have to drop out of the institution you’re currently in when you move to the new one. It may be a good idea to attend the one that accepted you for now until the one you would like to go to actually accepts you.
So what if you failed on your first year, now you want to apply and start afresh at a new institution using Grade 12 only, without disclosing your previous university record. Is that possible?
@@JOAE24 any updates? did you tell them?
Joh this really is a complicated process 😭 makes me not wanna transfer anymore lol
😂 Give it a shot you might go through. At least now you know the process before you start.
Is it possible to transfer from a Degree (only did a year) and do a HC to anothers institution and continuing from that particular HC
Enquire from the institution you want to go to. They will assess the program you did and how similar it is to the one you want to do and they will advise. Unfortunately it’s not a question that has a generic response.
Hello is it possible to transfer from. Cput to wits
Hey... How is BSc at Ufs? I'm thinking of transferring to Ufs for BSc
Hey am currently doing electrical engineering at VUT but I feel like the course and university is not for me, will it be possible for me to transfer to a University and do Education
If you qualify for the education program you want to do you can apply.
Hi so lets say if you failed Bsc engineering at wits and want to transfer to uj but it has b eng,
is it ok if we even indicate that we did not study in a tertiary institiution before, or is it ok to include since a university like uj has b tech instead of bsc in eng?
also dont want to transfer credits just want to start from like first year
Hi Ibrahim, you would need to apply at UJ from scratch as per normal application. They might ask you what you did between you completing matric and now If they do you will add the information about WITS. They will likely make the decision based on matric results especially if you’re not looking to transfer but to start from scratch.
@@IKNOWYOUKNOW2 so in this case would it be okay if this person did not disclose that they previously did the bsc ?
What happens when they need a sworn affidavit of your activities after completing matric
Hey, how did it go for you?
will I be treated a transfer student if I do a diploma and I want to do a degree
Hey, I finished school 2018, obtained a diploma pass, I did a bridging course at unisa (higher certificate in criminal justice) completed it 2020 and now I'm currently doing my first year in Bcom law at unisa. I would like to transfer to University of Zululand for my second year. Would that be possible?, I got really good grades
Was it possible for you?
If you qualify for the program you want to do in UoZ you can apply. Enquire with the faculty you want to go to if they will transfer your credits as well or if they need you to start from year 1.
hi sis,can i ask how they can see you were a previously registered student if you never give them your transcipts?
They usually ask what you have been doing since high school so you would tell them.
can I transfer from a private university ( like varsity college) to a public one?!
You can if you qualify for the program you want to do in the public one. Although the chances of getting your credits transferred might be slimmer. Reach out to the faculty you want to transfer to and find out.
is it possible to apply to study for medicine in Uct while doing engineering at a ukzn, when you qualify for it??
You can apply for any program in any institution if you qualify for it, regardless of what you’re currently doing.
how do we inform our current university about transferring? I'm currently a unisa student
and how will a change in universities change my nsfas funding? will I have to reapply with nsfas?
I'm also at unisa I wanna transfer, I wanna know the nsfas part too
Hi Shaahid so after acceptance, your new institution needs to send NSFAS your registration details. NSFAS will then re-evaluate whether you still qualify based on their other rules ie you passed your previous modules etc and then accept/reject based on that. This process will not start until you are fully registered in the new institution.

So once nsfas has recieved and accepted the registration from the new university, will it also find me with accommodation and food money. Since at unisa we don't have that.
Thanks in advance
And also how long would you have to wait to get funding at the new university
Okay my situation is a bit tight
My high school aps is below nwu required aps and I got in ump and I'm doing my first year this year, will I be able to transfer to nwu after finishing my first year or will I be rejected because they consider nsc aps before uni scores?
Hi there a lot of factors come into play here. Sometimes you might be accepted but not credited which means you may need to do 1st year again
I'm in the same situation. how did it go?
So if im transfering to snother university does this mean i have to apply for res as well?
Yes.
If I finish my degree with extra funds in my school account, and want to do postgrad at another institution. Will those funds be movable to that institution?
The university should refund you your money unless if you were on a bursary and the bursary wants it back. So if they refund the money you can just pay the other university
Hey what is to apply for exemption as a student transferring from college to university? And do I have to apply for it ?
Hi Thobile you would have to ensure you meet the criteria for the program you’re applying to and apply as per normal university applications. should you require the details of exemption this is usually a process that takes place once you’re already accepted into the program at university. The faculty staff will guide you on the requirements of the exemption application.
Hey did you manage to transfer?
Hello I received my matric results on Friday and well I didn't get accepted into UCT but I did for my other 2 backup options. Now I'm not satisfied , so I'm considering doing 10x better and working harder this year, so that I can get exceptional credits then transfer to uct in my 2nd year. Will this be possible to do?
Hi Bohato, as stated in the video, this depends highly on your results in the new institution as well as how similar the programs in the two institutions (the one you go to and the one you want to transfer to) are to each other. All the best!
If you get average marks in your first semester but get good marks in your second semester will it garantee a chance of acceptance at uct?
Your spot is not guaranteed until you’re officially accepted. Remember that some people who meet the requirements are sometimes rejected due to the capacity being reached. So you cannot assume that just because you qualify that they will definitely accept you. This is why it is important to apply to a couple of institutions and not just one.
hi so do you pay the registration fee as a normal high school.
Yes
Hey, can you apply for a degree at another varsity if you were doing HC At other Varsity?
If you meet the requirements for that program you can apply.
Hey. Can I transfer from a private institution to a public one ? Same degree ..
They don't credits from private institutions
You can transfer if you qualify for the program but they may not transfer your credits which means you would need to start from scratch.
Hi sis. Do you lose nsfas funding if you transfer?
Hi there ….
I got accepted at UNISA for diploma but l want to do it with tut campus at Pretoria. The only thing l am scared of losing is the NSFAS bursary
I am a student a student at TUT studying wildlife management but I want to change and study teaching at NWU do I need to apply for a transfer?
Hi Zwelithemba you need to apply for teaching at NUW as per the normal application once you’re averaged you can begin the credit transfer process. Please note that because the programs are different there may not be that many overlapping modules and thus not a lot of credits transferred. The best thing to do is to call the NUW teaching faculty and find out how many credits you would be able to transfer based on your current program.
Hey, can a 3rd year transfer to a new institution?
Hi Silindokuhle one of the requirements for a transfer is that you spend at least 2 years at the new institution before the end of your degree so that you can graduate at the new institution. So it depends on how long the program is and also how much correlation there is to the two programs in the different universities. If there’s no correlation and you have to redo some modules then it may take longer.
is it possible to transfer from university to college?
If you meet the requirements of the university program you want to get into.
Hi. If I failed my 1st year and want to change universities to start a different undergraduate course. What are the chances I might be taken? *I've applied at that institution last year I got accepted but I didn't go there*
Same problem
Hi Kutlwano, when you apply again it will be like a new application. So your matric marks will be considered. Some institutions do ask what you have done since you finished school but the weight of this depends on whether what you did was relevant to what you’re applying for and generally whether your matric marks qualify you for what you’re applying for. Keep in mind that different institutions may handle this differently so enquire with your institution of interest.
Hi See above comment please.💫
Hi Kutlwano, if they accepted you before it means you grade 12 marks meet the criteria of what you applied for. I am not sure how much they consider what you studied as they might ask for those marks. Perhaps they’ll consider it if it’s related to the course you want to do. I’d encourage you to apply nonetheless.
I just want to find out, if a degree needs 360 credits and you have that does that mean you automatically qualify for the degree?
Hi
I would like to ask if it's possible to transfer from a private college like varsity college to UP
Hello can I transfer from a private college to a public university ?
I don’t think public universities accept credits from colleges so you’ll have to start from first year.
@@juniorndlovu3310 but they allow college marks or certificates?
@@Bianca09404 yeah I’m assuming. When I applied, I submitted my college marks during the application and I was accepted. I did good in college.

@@Bianca09404 yeah. The course I’m doing now is similar to the one I did in IT, so I just submitted my transcript from college with my matric results.
Please contact them so they can guide you.
hi, can you transfer from varsity college to a university?
This question is never answered😪
You can transfer to any institution if you meet the requirements of that institution and program you want to do. The question of whether your credits will be transferred is dependent on the faculty you’re going to and how similar the program is with the one you did. So at worst you’ll just have to start the program from year 1.
I hope the answer below helps
Can transfer if you were doing a diploma in different university,to a bachelor in another?

What an upgrade! Yes you can.
@@anthonytesla8382hi, can you pls explain more. Im at VC and on a student loan. My dad just got a great Job at stellies and now I’m able to study there for free. How would I go about transferring?
You can transfer if you qualify for the program you intend to do at Stellenbosch. They may not transfer your credits so you might start from year 1 with the program. Reach out to the faculty you want to do to at Stellies and enquire from them if they will transfer your credits.
Apply to Stellenbosch as if you were applying straight after high school
