"Human projectile Industry" is the name of my new Disco-Math Rock band.
You don't see many human cannonball acts anymore because they have difficulty finding men of that caliber. ;-)
The most memorable circus performance from my childhood was a human 'canonball', but it was made to look like a giant crossbow and the lady was dressed very beautifully. It was very elegant.
Man this video really *blew* me away
I was kind of worried the topic matter might have flown over most people's heads.
You again?? Who actually are you mate. Why do you watch like all the videos I do. Great minds think alike ig
There were actually human cannonballs before the late 19th century. But by today's standards, they are considered non-cannonical.
MatthewNJDavis Obviously not; that’s why they’re non-canonical. Just apocryphal anecdotes.
Allan Brackenridge Well, there are some documents, but they aren’t as reliable as the others, which makes them deutero-canonical.
Oh you DON'T use gunpowder! I've gone through 27 testers (bless their souls) trying to get my cannon working!
1:03 i replayed that whistle like 4 times, i think there's something wrong with me lol
Surprised how old of a contraption it is.
Even today seeing a human cannonball live is very thrilling.
I was working EMS at our State Fair and actually got to meet and talk to the Senior and son of the Smith Family. That was about 10 years ago. He actually flew over one of the tallest rides there before landing safely in the net.... It was very impressive to say the least.
Wait, wait a minute. You're telling me that human cannons aren't packed with gunpowder a la Wile E. Coyote? Well you learn something new every day. *;-)*
Really do love this channel. Thanks as always to Simon and the *TIFO* crew. I do actually watch and enjoy, every single video you guys make.
It's not the fall that kills you. It is the landing!
MrDinJavel As any skydiver without a parachute will tell you, I’m sure. Lol
Actually, wasn't there some dude in the '80s who tried this with actual gunpowder and blew himself up? I remember hearing it on the news when I was a kid.
Lauren Conrad I don't think any skydiver without a parachute will tell me anything. If they do, I will do my best to convince them not to do that jump.
Did you say 9 freaking gees? Jeez!
I remember everytime as a kid we would go to the Ringling Brothers circus and be all excited about the human cannonball. In my memory it seems like everytime they would wind it up, get it "ready" and then say "Because of technical difficulties we will not be able to fire the cannon today."
1:40 "The crowd went absolutely wild." You might say, they went ballistic.
It's one of the best parts of Sea Of Thieves.
i never thought they were fired with gun powder i always thought they were pushed out by something and it seems i was always right
I feel privileged to have seen Dave Sr. ath the Moslah Shrine Circus every year that I lived in Ft. Worth, TX
Keep it up guys! I watch all of your videos and all of your channels, LOVE what you do.
I just watch these all day when I’m home sick, good stuff
The question that comes to mind is:"Why? Why? Why? In the name of Hades, why would anybody do this?!"
The puns in the comments section are amazing. Seriously though, great video!
Best channel on UA-cam. Keep it up guys.
Could you do a video on that one time Finland had a king? It's an interesting story.
This video really had me thinking and great video!
if you haven't already yall should do an episode on the guys who got shot in the stomachs with cannon balls. the other side of the cannon
Well explained Mark Strong
2:03 that whistling sound when he says "shot" 😂😂
You should do a video on why a 10-gallon hat is called a 10-gallon hat. I don't think they can hold ten gallons.
Certainly a HEAVY episode.
That’s a real ball of an episode.
Video starts at 3:08
what a blast from the past
Human projectile industry.
"Tree Loggers" is redundant.
But you got the *"Loggers"* part right!!!
If you'd said lumberjacks I would have had to unsubscribe!
This video wasnt in mu subscriptions yesterday
I assumed it was bungee cords. I wonder what it feels like to be hit with all that compressed air.. They had some balls.
I never see them do it!
They always get fired...
Good lord. I had no idea that any circus acts really were as dangerous as they appeared to be, but this one clearly is.
*super jaded dude* “dude I’m gonna get in that cannon”
*other super high dude* “but make sure you cross dress”
I never knew I wanted to know this!
Good video idea! Well done!
A real dark way of saying, “That is a weapon, not a teleporter.”
Next up: The Human Cannon. It will feature Danny D, Peter North and Ron Jeremy.
This what I like about Today I Found Out, always interesting videos of a high Calibre!
I didn't know until now that I wanted to know the answer to this question
That must suck! Having the supreme court tell you your act is boring
How about a bigger net to allow for more error?
I think someone asked this because of the commercial with the guy being shot out of a cannon. I can't remember what the commerical is for, though lol..
This Hit me so hard.
Video Suggestion:
"Which is safer: left-hand drive or right-hand drive vehicles?"
i knew those cannons weren't actually actually real. the delay with the bang and the person flying out made it quite obvious to point out the bs.
Need a more powerful cannon to be used as an execution method, televised of course. How big of a splat can we make of the prisoner?
I wanted to know how they work...instead I got an 8 minute video about the history of human cannon balls
Who else is here, researching how powerful they should build a TNT Cannon in Minecraft, that's realistically survivable? I don't mean the landing, because it's for Elytra. I mean surviving the vertical launch. How powerful can a human cannon be, before causing greyouts, blackouts, or immediately causing death?
Man, the pun never ends here that’s for sure.
well...it takes balls, I'll say that.
I know few politicians who would make perfect human cannonball. No nets required!
It's a long shot attempting a career like that
Can you please do a video on why we lose some of our hearing when we yawn??
Mark O' I would imagine because the bone in your jaw and stuff, I don't really lose much hearing I don't think though it may be different for people
I would say air pressure similar to the what happens when you're in a plane or go scuba diving
Mark O' you’re estuchian tubes open up and allow air behind your eardrum so it muzzles the sound this is also why in an airplane if your ears won’t pop yawn and they will
I love your videos. I am baffled how anyone could dislike them. I always wonder if those people have "fact allergies". Please keep up the amazing work.
I like your shirt. Does it have all white linked sockets?
why didnt those lads just use an emergency parachute to not die
perhaps they erm.. "shot to fame" :D
I was just thinking, landing is got to be the hard part lol
The zucchini brothers? What the fruit?!
For a second i thought he was VSauce
3:17 you said, " found in normal cannons" (plural). but the collective term for multiple cannon(s) is cannon (singular).
That is stupid. It is easier to specify you are talking about multiple cannon if you add an "s" to the end.
No one else was thrown off by the shrill whistle at 1:04?
Am I the only one who thought the guy's name was Zucchini?
Binging with Babish is interesting but what was he cooking this time?
Do one on when we started to eat dessert after dinner.
Wow, I wouldn't want to be a human cannonball
Width lumin eye magnolia(study axis pull acord.(stunt tools)
so that comes out to 60,000 per 100,000
So what you are saying is that the stopping is the hard part, who would of thunk.
Thee Greatest Human Cannonball Ever is.... Webb Wilder!!!
It wasn't his first time.
I'd say lack of any HighExplosives tamp'd up the projectiles ass before launching?....
-This kinda stuff is like watching human>kangaroo boxing matches, the things humans do for a thrill/"Oh MY!/money. eh?....
Why are almost all measurements done in US customary system
Most viewers are probably from the US and most of these things were originally measured in what used to be global standard.
Because Americans are more likely to watch pointless videos while gorging themselves all day
Matthew Cranch was killed in Kent doing this stunt during the Scott May stunt show after the landing net wasn't fixed properly.
Ive seen the show after the accident and they are still doing the cannon stunt with someone else, something i found to be bad taste given it was there fault Matt Cranch died!
So Matt Cranch went crunch.
I don't fully understand the last quote.. the "Economic incentive.." part, at 7:44.
Could someone elaborate?
Did they judge in his favor so he wouldn't quit performing, basically? Or...
I will take dying over having paralyzed legs in a heartbeat.
Menstrel why most people who go blind don't kill them selves and that would be much much worse.
I swear to "God" I didn't know I needed to know this
Hello, I’m Simon Jizzler
Simon looks a lot like Tomasso Ciampa.
Sadly I know someone who died doing this
Can you do a video on early 20th century Russian clown act Bim Bom?
Hi, can you answer my question on your next video?
Why does people need to open their mouth while firing a canon? What will happen if they fire a canon with mouth closed?
"up to what point?" what year?
They just weren't Cobra Kai material !!
So using gun powder as a propellant isn't canon?
Is bonus fact like bonus meme?
Human cannonballs are pretty badass, but they're no match for The One Legged Woman Who Was the Most Dangerous Of All Allied Spies:

My old friend Charlie, who together with me always did crazy things when we were teenagers, worked on a plan to create our amateur version of this stunt. We figured the launch mechanism had to be a platform and giant spring, so we got hold of a giant truck spring. Since we were good swimmers, we figured firing one of us into a nearby bay would take care of the landing. I suppose it's a good thing that we never quite got our contraption to work.
