The 2GB FAT16 drive was nuked when updating to Windows XP from Windows ME. As Windows XP was an x64 version, Vista x64 required a clean install, then every version after that was a proper upgrade.
You really should've played this at 20 percent its original speed even at the lowest playback speed it still hurts my eyes and I don't even have any vision problems

Ah! Seeing the VMware logo pop up as the virtual computers rebooted explained a lot to me. I was wondering how this would work, because Windows 1.0 would never support modern hardware, and old hardware would never support Windows 10, so I thought it was either you changed the computer hardware as you went or it was a virtual computer.
Linux Mint is by far easier, Ubuntu kept having issues on a fresh install for me. - No wifi adapter, fixed after some tinkering with secure boot. - Resolution locked, fixed after installing 460 nvidia driver instead of 470. This broke internet again, this time couldn't fix. - Steam couldn't install, could install on nvidia driver 470 but not 460.

Well I did erase the drive when installing XP, as it was a x64 version making it impossible to upgrade.
Windows 8.1 wasn't so bad. I loved how responsive it was

Comparing clean installation from disk with oobe to upgrades isn't a fair comparison, upgrade also can take way longer because of all (and older) data

Windows 1-3.1 do not have any memory limits, however Windows 95 and 98 will refuse to run on PCs exceeding 512MB RAM.
