- You see many configurations in the altered gasser class but Rockford, Illinois Gordy Buetsch's '55 Nash Metropolitan has to be one of the freakiest you'll ever see! Now before you go assuming this work of art and engineering was built by some high dollar hot rod shop, think again. Gordy a tool and die maker did 99% of his own work including bodywork and paint. The '58 392ci Chrysler Hemi Fire Power Engine was built by Dave Carter of DC Automotive in nearby Rockford, Illinois. The engine has Chrysler heads and 10:1 pistons, crane hydraulic cam and a weiand dual quad manifold with AFB carbs. A '77 GM TH400 built by his friend Ken Kruse connects the power to the Ford 9" rearend.
