The TAP app is compatible with most Android phones with NFC (near-field communication) capability, running software version 11 and above. NFC must be enabled to use your virtual TAP card.

It did not work when I used it last time.
I don't use the Metro as often as I used to anymore. I was able to use my phone a long time ago. I thought it was a good idea and stop carrying my tap card. Only to find out somehow it does not work anymore when I tried to use it last time. The bus driver was nice enough to allow me to ride for that time. However, I could have much a hard time if the driver did not allow me.
I hope the issue with the app gets fixed soon. I believe public transit is an important service to maintain.
Interesting metro is not responding to the people who says bit working on thier phone
Heads up. This is if your tap card is showing up as HOT-LIST on METRO and you have an android phone. Long story short, you need a new card. Get a new card, physical since this app ain't reliable. Call the helpfull staff at TAP card to transfer your balance (or other passes such as a 7 day pass, etc,) on the card. Call the school to transfer school passes from the old card to the new card. Finally, don't put your card onto the phone since this makes the physical card useless.

Today it was very unpleasant to hear from the driver that my plastic card was STOLEN and does not work, although I just added it to the application.

I have an Android phone (Google Pixel 5) with a digital wallet which uses GPay to look for payment sources.
When I tap on a bus transponder I get an "invalid card" alert because my default payment source in GPay is my bank debit card. Because I can not add a TAP card to my digital wallet I must use a plastic TAP card.
