The softer the hook link the less value an anti tangle sleeve has in terms of pushing away from lead.

Exactly and with a stiff hook link a loop knot can kind of act as an anti tangle sleeve anyway 🤷‍♂️ so do we rly need anti tangle sleeves at all?

@@DunkinBiscuits I’ve come to realise all rigs and things like this have pros and cons. Stiff boom with sleeve offers the best solution for laying rig out straight in front of lead but reduces movement. So fish approaching from rear mechanics are hindered. For nearly all my lead clip work now I use a doubled over section on semi stiff, to a ring swivel and feel this offers me the best all round mechanics and pres

I fish a Ronnie rig type in a short Korda boom coupled with some Nash trigger link and it’s in a pva bag I had 2 out on it last week nothing big but it works

We were using silicone tubing and armour tubing like that in the late eighties.
It'll only push a stiff link away not a supple one.

Love the anti tangle selves I use them on every rig I use and personally I think it does help with hooking up too 100% worth getting and making rigs that little shorter to come into contact with the lead faster 😁🤘

Unless it's a chod over weed or pva bag I only fish heli style, these are pretty much essential for my heli fishing, I wouldn't feel confident casting out without one on!
