Very sad for the truck driver who lost his rig. Those things are a fortune and that was his livelihood. Imagine you have a large family to feed and because it is idiot it's all gone.
I had insurance. And since most can’t pay cash for those, a bank would require that you pay full coverage. In the trucking business, once you have exhausted you depreciation on purchased inventory like a truck, it’s time to buy a different one. Without depreciation your business just gives what you make to taxes instead of upgraded equipment. So you are sort of stuck in a catch 22, with having to buy new or newer trucks to keep your taxes lower. This truck just got replaced a bit sooner. But glad they caught the driver. With these newer models with no shifting or double clutching, a person who can drive a car could probably drive away with one of these. Skills would help but not having to learn the timing of double clutching an making a smooth shift when you have so many types of gear patterns depending on the number of gears. 9, 10, super 10, 13, 15 18. A person would have to know all those and be proficient to get away fast. But with no shifting. It’s easy to steal a big truck now.

Feel sorry for the ORIGINAL Driver, incase he had any valuables in the truck , wallet ,ID, photo pictures. Hope he did not loose his job. All he did was stop to fill the tank.
This isn't the first time that I've seen this happen in a chase. I guess when you drive a big truck like that, the rim ends up lighting the body on fire. 🔥
Trucks are not easy to operate. An ordinary driver would not be able to get into a big rig and just drive. Clearly this guy has some trucking experience. Also the 210 doesn’t pass through Ontario. That’s the 10 that runs through Ontario. The 210 and Haven is in Rancho Cucamonga. And the 210 runs east and west. The reporter claimed he was going northbound. He’s lost.
Many trucks made since roughly the 2014-2016 model years - most since, come with automated manual transmissions (AMT), where the cab has two pedals like a car, lacking the third for the clutch. They use manual transmissions, however a computer acts as the clutch and gear shifter so literally anyone could get in and drive, with or without driving experience.
@@Axle69e cool. That’s interesting. My dad drove trucks back in the 80s and 90s when I was growing up. He had many stories. His truck was definitely not automatic. I looked in his cab a few times and it always looked so complicated. Then again I was also a kid and driving a car seemed complicated when I was 8 or so. I grew up with lots of doctors appointments and usually my dad took me on his days off. His pickup was a stick shift as well. An old ford from either late 70s or early 80s. To me it seemed just as complicated as his big rig.
@@MilesCobbett there is, they may not have called the correct department at first since they drove through so many cities and thought they were in Ontario which they weren’t. Heard the fire trucks as this broadcast ended.
Nope not Ontario nor were they ever in Ontario. The reporter once said they were going northbound as well. The 210 goes east and west and never goes through Ontario or even near it really. Hopefully the officers knew where they were.🤦🏼♀️
A police cruiser could not pit this vehicle, trying to box it in would be too dangerous, and cops don't shoot tires anymore-- so what would chasing do exactly, besides add more 100mph death wagons to the road?

This individual is aware that he has no hope of escaping from officers. If he wanted to successfully steal a vehicle for transportation or for profit he would not have stolen this conspicuous truck. I believe that such pursuit episodes are too often hopeless dudes who simply want to sleep indoors for a while. Where there is some supervision and they might feel safe. In jail. Or prison. Thankfully insurances exist & lets hope to say he did have insurance. He’ll have a new rig in no time, sucks he’s on downtime for this though.

The freightliner trucks have a very low set engine. When you blow boath front tires the first bump afterwards will crack the oil pan. Then poof fire.

Unbelievable. No wonder crime is rampant in L.A. and in other Democratic cities.
Those truck cabs are fiberglass and will burn when conditions are right. This should be covered by insurance.

Great performance for an EV. He got a ticket for using the car pool lane, the drugs in the container weren't his.

He'll probably get released w/o bail these days.
This seriously only happens in Cali!
