I know you may now see this but I have waited years to finalize my Bruticus as he is one of my favorite combiners … I finally settled on the Zeta Toys and thank you for the great and honest review Decepticons for life!
The tab behind the thigh is to connect the feet for base mode. The "key hole" is for the giant back cannon to peg in.. the blue pegs are actually in semicircle...
It's two years later and they just reissued the metallic version... I still almost threw it across the room. Even seeing how Bobby handles the figures from the early release, I can tell just how bad the tabbing and joints are. While they improved some of that stuff with the new guys, there are some *abysmal* aspects to it. My Vortex broke with very little effort. The twin turbines on either side of the propeller? They popped right off and you can see how short and impotent the screws holding them in place are. That was enough for me to contact Zeta and to say, "It looks great but don't touch it." I really feel for you guys with the first set.
Congrats on completing your Bruticus! I knew you were excited to get this guy all together, and I’m just as excited to complete mine. I’m glad that this “paid off” in the end result. Already waiting for your review of Onslaught. I think this set looks amazing with the MakeToys Starscream, and I’m glad you showed us that. That’s what I was hoping for in this review, and you delivered it. Well done! Bring on Superion!
Congratulations on completing him, and Thanks for getting this out so fast, you’re faith in this set sold me long before this review, so I’m just waiting (anxiously) for my onslaught. Seeing this thing as bruticus, is exciting!
Oh man, I am so excited for this guy. Mine is en route from Hany, it shipped the day this was posted. It will be my very first MP scaled combiner. I have the Iron Factory Bruticus, and now having an MP scaled one, I am going to be super happy. I alwas liked Bruticus over the other teams, even Devastator. And the colors on this guy do not bother me at all, I really dig them due to the original G1 toy acuracy. Solid review, Bobby! You could definitely hear the enthusiasm in your voice in getting him built.
at 6:23 when brawl comes off. it show the hooks used to hold together and there are stress marks on it. do think the hooks are thick and strong enough to hold long term or one wrong move and snap?
Great review as always Bobby. I'm definitely looking forward to completing this set, and displaying him next to Constructor. No regrets from me going in on the Zeta bots. Thanks again for all you do for the community. It is greatly appreciated!!
I don't have any problems at all with 3Ps taking liberties with the colors. It doesn't always have to match the G1 cartoon. The G1 cartoon didn't always match the G1 cartoon. And even when it did, it wasn't always appealing. I also don't have any problems with partsforming. Especially on a combiner, which by its very nature, IS partsforming.
Thanks Bobby! I just got this from East Coast Toys last week and I am very pleased. Your reviews were a big part of my decision over the UT bot! Looking forward to their Superion!
Yeah I'm with you on that as I myself am a collector and I am collecting two sets of combiners for my collection and this is an exceptional piece thanks again for your work and keep it up
I feel like there is a noticeable drop in quality for the last one, its covered in sprue marks and the swindle connection on mine barely holds, its a terrible design choice and that piece should have been able to lock in. Had to paint the eyes and glue those antenna in place too. For all that though he looks phenomenal, but Devy is still the number one for now.
I know this is old, but I like how this man said “It’s affordable” 😂😂😂 bruh the cheapest I can find is $390 and all of them have a minimum $90 shipping fee or higher. Imo almost none of the figures from 3rd party are worth the sheer f-ton they ask for. Like this is MAYBE $200 max and that’s really pushing it. Hell I’d buy one right now if it was $175 plus shipping. For that money they better be damn near perfect and made basically all out of metal and have perfect ratchets and articulation.
BT FABI really do love this boi. He’s my favorite combiner. I want this as a show off item for my display. I think that this figure would be absolutely perfect if it was just a little more g1. Like not having vortex be the same helicopter as MB Blackout and the shuttle cockpit chest piece. I still love it. I’m also really excited for the new stunticons. That menasor makes me giddy
Only Computron, Abominus, Piranacon, Superion, Menasor, Monstructor, Defensor, and Predaking left. Still got a long ways to go yet guys, and don't even get me started on decent sized MP Titan bots, and World bot Unicron. Great review as always, keep it up!
FYI it's way easier if you don't want the rotors to unscrew the whole assembly from beneath, than to unpin every individual blade like Bobby did here. It is a shame it wasn't built to just let you slide it out though.
I love my Constructor, but I have no regrets passing this guy up for the Unique Toys version. The colours on Armageddon just make him look a bit patchwork.. Ragnaros' muted colours are easier on the eye in my opinion. I am commited to Zeta Superion, and he should look more cohesive since all the individual bots share similar colours.

One defense if they do make a Toon upgrade kit later, a lot of the design was done for TW before the split. Afterward Zeta really kept the thing cheap to buy. We don't know whether Zeta would have gone this route if they had been on their own from the start or not. If they continue that with whatever is after Superion I would hold it against them though. They do APPEAR to be taking steps with Superion to have it "right" without a separate upgrade kit though.
This is 100% speculation on my part, but my impression is the TW mold reissues were done for the express purpose of keeping the remaining Aerialbots priced similar to the Combaticons and first Aerialbots. TW had done a lot on the early Combaticons and Aerialbots before the split so that allowed Zeta to sell cheap since they didn't have all the costs, but the later ones that hadn't progressed as far were more expensive to make. You know what the fan base is like. Imagine for a second people bought the first two Aerialbots at $60 each and then suddenly the other 2 limbs were $100 each. Wasting time releasing a few reissues is probably worth it to avoid that particular firestorm. Of course I have no idea if those TW reissues actually even sold very well which would completely torpedo this theory. I've also heard in the past that TW was huge in China so judging by US sales may not really work for them.
Thanks for the review. I’m in on the set now. Might wait for a boxset. I waited on constructor and got in on the preorder of the rusted yellow one. It’s always a gamble to wait though. Bobby, thanks for this video! I've been waiting forever to see this in scale with other combiner bots! Mine is an route, and I'm looking forward to slamming this monster on my MP shelf!
This is perfect... besides the eyes needing to be lit, and other revisions to the G1 that I dig, such as Swindle’s roof not being forward, or the pleasant surprise that Iron Factory took with using a G2 Vortex. Still, if I wanted to buy an MP Bruticus, I’d go with Armageddon over UT’s Ragnaros or MMC’s Assaultus, ... so far, assuming there aren’t more Bruticii in the works. Also, this is pantsforming, which goes even further than draping on a poncho, mits, and boots. Though, it also doesn’t bother me. But I will note that Iron Factory did partsforming perfectly by turning thejr accessories into a trailer and a little bust. Granted... that’s also the other side of the sizing... 😋 Oh, one more thing, let’s hope the Combaticons get some more love in IDW Phase 3! Like having them be lead about on Starscream’s misadventures and then having to pull together to save Screamer from himself. Or, ya know, just the Combaticons being cool, and blowing stuff up. 🤩
Thanks for the early view Bobby. Hopefully someone addressed this already, but did you try those "flight stand" keys on the knee connection to lock it in?
Looks awesome. Zeta (toy world ) is funny about there G1 accuracy. Everyone knows about the color difference and accessories on constructor. And I got burned on them. That's why I waited on this set. I'm ready to pull the trigger but I'll but those silver thigh pieces as well as some other slight differences will be available when they relese the "box set"
Yes, I prefer the combiners to be around the same size. Armageddon is indeed, NOT too big here. Now on to their Superion and all the rest! Excellent review and I like how GCI and Titan One are treating you. Good stuff!
This needs more upvotes so people know how the shoulders work. I find it odd seeing all of the reviews saying that the shoulder connections are bad and none of them seem to know that they pull out to disengage the ratchet..... Which then makes me wonder how many people are destroying their Constructor shoulders.
I think you may have actually put up the first full review of this beast....still don't know if I'll be happy with him, I DEFINITELY will be peeved if they do an an accurate toon version later
I do think Ragnaros looks more like how I envisioned Bruticus as a kid - but love the articulation and size of this guy. Unique Toys wasn’t to Zeta there. Great video.
I admit I was thinking of going with Unique Toy after that review, but now I'm glad I've been short of money cause I'm all for this one instead, great review.
Thanks for the review Bobby - this helped me start to appreciate this guy. I'm not long after putting him together & my initial feeling was disappointment - he kept dangerously leaning back (no matter how the hips were positioned rotated), & arms just didn't look right on him once attached. Putting him in an A-stance helped dramatically with balance (he's still nowhere near Constructor's standard), so I'm really warming to him now. Anyone know what batteries the head takes?
Oh, I almost forgot, TOTALLY do a series if he paints that for you. I feel that a ton of these bots could use some fan paint love. Pastor Robins lights are a little beyond me, but I can pick up a paintbrush ( or learn how to airbrush).
I've been holding out on these guys... until I saw a review. So thank you for getting this out so quickly. Honestly, as happy as I am with my Devy (Version 2), I'm a little hesitant with this purchase. The four limbs look amazing, but the legs and the torso look a little plain in comparison. They both could have used some additional details and panel lining of some sort or another.... But, it also could be just the coloring like you mentioned. Now I wonder if I should wait for a Version 2 with a leg correction.
oh boy...I had a feeling this is gonna replace my KO oversized Warbotron. Those knee connectors are scary tho, hope they don't get stress marks. Burnin' the midnight box o'wine to get us this review. Thank you.

Looks nice, definitely the way to go if you want a Bruticus you'll never de-combine for fun. That's not me, so hanging with UT.
I feel maketoys makes equally stable combiners with the great artculation. But for this size this is amazing
BAM!! This is exacting what I'm expecting!! All I mainly care for is their combined mode. I need more...NOW!!
Yeah I'm with you on that as I myself am a collector and I am collecting two sets of combiners for my collection and this is an exceptional piece thanks again for your work and keep it up
Those parts you mentioned in the thighs are for the room let base mode that you can make with the excess parts

Now does the connection require not brawl to ONLY be backwards like other versions or does it allow for both options like g1?
I've been holding out on these guys... until I saw a review. So thank you for getting this out so quickly. Honestly, as happy as I am with my Devy (Version 2), I'm a little hesitant with this purchase. The four limbs look amazing, but the legs and the torso look a little plain in comparison. They both could have used some additional details and panel lining of some sort or another.... But, it also could be just the coloring like you mentioned. Now I wonder if I should wait for a Version 2 with a leg correction.
So glad I went with this now!
Oh yeah zeta bring them all.im hoping to see every known combiners at this size its just wow
And amen
Great review. Can't wait for the preorders to ship. I think some prolabels and maybe some add ons would really knock this guy out of the park.
Nice review. Thanks Bobby.
Bet that guy looks sick on the shelf with the other combiners
The Key to Vector Sigma was partsforming all along.
Hey Skully have you seen the new zeta head they have on big bad toy store? It looks dead on like Bruticus
Nice, fair review. I do think it looks awesome combined.
What are the tabs on back of thigh of combiner?
oh boy...I had a feeling this is gonna replace my KO oversized Warbotron. Those knee connectors are scary tho, hope they don't get stress marks. Burnin' the midnight box o'wine to get us this review. Thank you.
I would like to see a size comparison between the two.
Outstanding!
