- Realistic Updated House Tour One Year Later (Brand New Custom Home Update)
I’ve been patiently waiting to finally share our updated house tour after a full year of living in it and slowly making it our own! I found it important to share a realistic perspective on how much time it truly take to furnish a space to perfection. It’s SOO normal to take your time and not have it exactly how you want it right off the bat. Social media is great at showing a before and after without the journey, leaving so many people feeling behind, unaccomplished or take the joy out of the process. It’s a JOURNEY, and it should be a fun one that makes you feel proud of yourself, not like a race to the finish. I’m excited to share some of the ideas I have for various spaces in our home as well as other areas that have come along beautifully!

I’m not sure if I recommend gold. You would have to incorporate it elsewhere for it to match. And then you would have to switch out a lot more than just the light. I like black, but I do think you should change the light!
Ughh I know ☹️☹️ That’s something Juan pointed out to me with our black pendants and faucet. Although, we do have some mixed metals going on with our appliances that contrast with our pendants and hardware and I actually love that everything isn’t SUPER matchy. I think It will depend on our kitchen table and chairs so I’ll definitely decide on that first. I think I could find a way to balance it out if I really wanted to but I also have some other light options that I love and would consider instead of gold, maybe seagrass!?! 😊 If not, a way simpler/smaller style pendent that is still black !! 🤩🤩

Such a beautiful home! Would you mind me asking what the greige color on your walls is called? Also, love your kitchen! We have white cabinets and a gray island. We’ve been contemplating the cafe appliances for at least a couple of years now, but I’m afraid it will look like too much white. It’s balanced and beautiful in your kitchen. Ours is a long straight line of cabinets with one on the end.( L shaped I guess) Would you still recommend the white cafe?
Thank you so much ! The color is “dover white”by Sherman Williams! Your kitchen sounds so pretty, love the two tones with the gray & white ! I honestly do recommend them. I love how cohesive my kitchen is having white cabinets/appliances and the subtle pop of color that comes from the handles/knobs. I have never preferred silver items whether it’s cars/appliances/jewelry etc because for wherever reason in my mind they look unfinished like they need a coat of paint or something (but that’s just a me thing 😆). I thought black would just stick out to much for my taste and make it a little too cold with the color of our flooring. Besides how they look, they work great and haven’t had any maintenance issues. They also have a few smart features to them that are an added bonus!

There are still so many projects that we want to add to the house. Backsplash is one of those things. It’s funny because I was looking at the same backsplash you have used, but potentially in the subway style? Thought I could do the subway in the kitchen and maybe the squares in my laundry room.😍 There’s probably different versions, but Is it the Cloe tile? Sorry for all the questions 🥴
Absolutely! I definitely can’t speak for how they will hold up with kids haha but I will say they are very wipeable and mine doesn’t have any scratches even with a dog in the house! I just looked up the Chloe tiles and they do look very Similar to the ones I have. I don’t know exactly where my builder bought ours but the box of extras we have are labeled “Marazzi Gesso LX”! I definitely wished I would have utilized these gorgeous tiles in our shower as well!
How is the pura air freshener compared to bath and body or air wick?
I honestly don’t have any complaints about air wick or Bath & body works, I have used those brands in the past and did the trick as far as aiding in my house smelling clean and fresh. What I love about pura and why I think I personally will be a forever customer is how luxurious the scents make my home feel. All the scents really set a tone in my house, (similar to when you go into a fancy hotel or high end store) and it’s something that I haven’t felt with any other product I have used. With that, I will also say, scent is always something I pay attention to and LOVE whether it’s scents put on myself, scents on other people, or scents of places I go so I care about scents probably more than most people lol ! Also, it is really nice to be able to control the puras from my phone to turn them on/off when nobody is home and change the intensity or even set it to a schedule. I would say if you value a really nice unique and luxurious scent, you will LOVE the pura and what it has to offer! Hopefully that answers your question 🤞🏼🥰

We are getting ready to start the building process next month and I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with everything new I’ll need to buy… a new couch, new side tables, new dining table and chairs, new bed frame, new fish tank storage, new barstools, new EVERYTHING! But this reminded me that we will have an island to sit at for meals too. We don’t need everything immediately. Furnishing a new home is SOOO expensive and everything adds up quick. So thank you again for saying this!

Yesss it really can be so overwhelming thinking about all the “to do’s” on top of regular expenses so stepping back and thinking about the bigger picture has really allowed us to enjoy the journey, take our time and be much more intentional with how we prioritize our spending!
