Hexs all day long just makes sense... More colours and wireless! How do you feel about the safety of them though? Have you found a way to secure them from light fingered fuckers? (no pun intended but there's one there 😂)
They are not sponsoring the video lol. Jeff is just a good guy and I know any dealer can give you a cheap price then map pricing you see online, but it's best for you to be buying say 10 plus lights. I buy all my ADJ stuff through Jeff
A suggestion for people getting started is not to buy 20 lights right away and be in debt before you get rolling. Start out with 4-6 of whichever fixture you like and then buy 1 or 2 more each time you have a gig. You will be surprised how much you can impact a room with 8-10 lights done correctly. Your clients will not care how MANY lights you have. They will care how well you accent the room.
bro, uplighting is an "add-on" you can charge for. there's online companies that rent brides uplights starting at $35 a light. Think about it...You're giving ur uplighting away
@@DjGCue71 That's true, but his comments were aimed at DJs just starting out. Most new DJs don't have a load of starting cash to buy a huge uplighting package. They buy a few lights. Then, they perform a few gigs with those lights without charging for them separately. Their wisdom is shown when they reinvest what they've made from those gigs back into their equipment so that they can separate uplighting within their packages in the future.
Where have you been all my life ??? Thank you for explaining to us. Very very good job of explaining, and I didn’t have to fast forward because you were explaining so well plus we get all the information!!
Dude i can believe you deal with canal street guys What a small world They are the ones that hook my up with my lights, fog, speakers and subs Great guys...
It's funny coz people moan about DJs using controllers and it making life easier etc... Its a small tradeoff when as a mobile DJ you have to act as engineer, sound engineer, logistics manager and programmer. I've had mad issues several times with a faulty dmx light.. And it's ALWAYS at the event.. Because of the way my setup is too, completely fucked up the left hand side of my lighting.. I carry solder, a portable soldering iron and some heat shrink.. Basically had to T off the rgb output of a working light and piggyback the faulty unit directly to that. Thanks for the advice Rick you're really making it super easy for us 😉
I personally prefer Chauvet for the simple reason they have IEC in and then a standard outlet out, instead of IEC to IEC, because then you have to buy IEC to IEC cables instead of using the plug to IEC that comes with the light saving money, also some of the Chauvet pars can run of 12VDC which can help in power limited situations
Using wireless DMX transmitter/receivers is a way to mitigate the cost between the QA GO and the Element Hex. When you consider $140 between the two versus roughly $200 for a transmitter and seven receivers, it can mean a world of difference for most mobile DJs.
Do you need the HEXCON DMX controller to use them wireless ? Planing to buy the Mega Hex 4 pack. But not sure if i can link them all togetjer using only wireless connection ? Having cables all over the floor ans walls to link them looks bad imo 😊
Great video ,good suggestions Rob, word of advice to the DJ's who are not offering uplighting it's a game changer, increased my bottom line immensely I started offering uplighting back in 2007 Detroit, Michigan, where you had some companies that were getting $800 for 8 uplights, times have changed but it is still very profitable and less time consuming, with battery powered fixtures.
Really helpful vid mate, great info for possible new fixtures for my school i do sound and light tech for (yeah im a student too lol) so greatly appreciated. keep up the great work and high quality content!!
Can you create a video explaining wireless DMX, how to use it and showing the software you use. Looking at getting into wireless DMX. Love your videos and I have learned so much from them!! Thank you so much!! DJ Larry Wright - North Carolina
Thank you Rick, great overview of up lighting. Can you recommend a basic DMX controller that’s easy to program for 4-6 lights right around the DJ booth?
If your doing just pars. Something like tha adj basic analog controller will work great. Other then that chauvet show express is my favorite computer based, tons of tutorials online for it. Or the adj dmx bridge with the iPad app is cool too
GREAT VIDEO RICK I HAVE MEGA HEX PARS. AS A SINGLE OP IM DYING TO INVEST IN THE WIRELESS CANS BUT IT'S THE RETURN INVESTMENT THAT MIGHT TAKE FOREVER. PLUS IN NEW JERSEY SOME OF THE VENUES ARE INSTALLING THEM ALREADY
I love ADJ but since the Chauvet Freedom Par Hex’s came out before these, I got them with the Flarecon wireless control you can use with your iPhone/iPad and love them because of the ease of use. These look sick too and I’m glad there are so many options out there for us to check out. Great video once again!
What about the ADJ 5PX HEX Series like the 5p hex but now with power con exciting that means you would have to change most of your power cables to power con. Expensive
Hey rick what about the chauvet ez go battery powered up lights? Id rather have battery powered ones so you can put them anywhere and not have to worry about electricity.
Great Vid Rick! can't believe i watched the entire video lol My fav par is the Mega Hex. It has all the colors like you mentioned. But lets get real here, and no i don't want to bash on any brands before someone reply's to this comment. (YOU DONT NEED ANY BRANDED WASH FX LIGHTS) Meaning a cheap par from Amazon or any other brand that has all the colors like the Mega Hex Par can cost half the price of the QA and has all the same features like the Element..... If it's something like a moving head or something then i would chose something more "Trusted" if you know what i mean!
But you know why those off brand fixtures are so cheap. The diodes inside are not grade A stock. They have defects that dont pass the Quality Control of something made by a name brand company.
@@DJRickWeb I mean if you go that cheap yeah lol but you can get a fixture like the hex with all the colors water proof wireless dmx and battery powered for around $150 - $300 and they sometimes include the travel case
Im in the market for up lighting, but yes the return for investment here in Aus is no way as much as you can get in USA. I would love to get some APE up lights but Dam they expensive bro!
You should buy from Both Lighting. I own 26 RGBWAU wireless, battery powered, dmx, IR and app controllable uplights that cost half of what ADJ or Chauvet charge.
where can i find more powerful lights? i host weddings , XV ... etc etc.. i have the ADJ mega flat pak 8 .. but they do not convince me, i feel they are not strong enough..
could you use a pinspot as an up light? you mist the ADJ mega tri par profile which had better colour mixing and was a bit brighter than the original mega par profile
Hey Rick!! Love the videos man! Just wondered...Have you seen a significant increase in business since you started making videos? I was thinking about making some videos of my own.
DJ Rick Web I used both at the same time, by the end of the gig they're were dead. Freedoms still have 30-40% after 8 -9 hours of use. I do Uplighting rentals every weekend.

Have to admit I was expecting to see a link to CSL here... not Amazon.
Labeling with your company name logo contact info is a good start. I put a piece or two of gaff tape around the legs attaching them to the floor.

Look at his newer uplight video, I bought the mega hex par, one of them broke, I bought the Chinese version for a lot less and they work great.

Thanks for taking the time to inform us about uplighting. It’s very helpful and I appreciate the way you explain it! Aloha!🏝🎶🎤🤙🏼
Great tutorial on these different lighting pars. Keep up the great work. Waiting on the next lighting video part 2.
Great video! Could you possibly do a review of the Rockville uplights? What do you think of them?
Probably not. Not a fan of there electronic products for reliability issues

They work. It comes down to what your trying to sell. The ez wedge pars are not as bright as the ones I showed and they dont have wireless dmx
#18:40 do they have cahrgeable battterys in them and how long do they last before you have to charge them ?
I recommend both lighting stuff now. See my newer videos

Professional since 2012. Overall started back in 2009.

Nice video Rick👌🏼
Why don't you try german "Stairville ones? (that's a brand of Thomann) I had some from ADJ and Stairville and have to say, Stairville is the best!
Thee is always wireless DMX companies like Donner that can be used on regular DMX units.
Very informative! Thank you!
What pars should I get for beginners
Watch the video
Thanks Rick this video help me a looot
Nice Video! What do you think of the adj Mega Tri Par Profile Plus ?
Love those, but for the price just get the hex pars. Plus the tri par plus is discontinued
Would the chauvet tri 6 led be good for uplighting?
could you use a pinspot as an up light? you mist the ADJ mega tri par profile which had better colour mixing and was a bit brighter than the original mega par profile
Possibly in a pinch.
You mention “hex pattern advantage” a few times. What exactly does that refer to? What’s the advantage of the hex?
Any color you can image you can make it. Since it gas red green blue white amber and uv. 6 or hex colors. You have limitless color mixing options
DJ Rick Web thx
Thank you Rick.
What’s your Minimum wattage on each uplight fixture?
Wattage isnt really a factor may more with the current pars on the market
i dont need a Lights, i like sound system is cool
Hey Rick!! Love the videos man! Just wondered...Have you seen a significant increase in business since you started making videos? I was thinking about making some videos of my own.
Negative. If anything the footage I edit into my promotional and marketing videos is the only thing valuable from them.
Who has the best price on wash fx2
Just about everyone is about the same price on that fixture. Bigger thing is finding them in stock right now
@@DJRickWeb exactly tried ordering them at guitar center online and they are backordered
Love or vids
That $20 a fixture priceis helpful but are you saying companies charge $400 for 20 lights regardless of whether they are wireless
Depends pricing varries
What is HEX?
Red green blue white amber and uv. Or hex lights
Artfox Flat Par 9
Hi
I’m a dj too
Adj element suck! I had two and sold them for freedom pars. So much brighter and the battery lasts so much longer. Freedoms didn't even last for a gig

I dont think anythin out there even comes close to ape labs stuff to be honest.
Roger Vera Yup including their prices...
Ape labs. 👍
Really cool lights. Easy quick to setup. Long battery. They are pricey though
